It’s been 2 weeks since the last balance patch and I guess a lot of rangers have tried the runes of the trapper, how do you feel about them ? still exited as day 1 ?

I personally enjoyed the changes very much, the runes are solid and the build they open up are very powerfull, I never liked the trapper builds for roaming because it felt high risk and without ascape abilities, but with the stealth and super speed everything has changed.

What do you guys think about the trapper ranger for roaming ? I’ve seen only 1 trapper ranger since the patch so it felt like a) not many people know about the runes, or b) not many people enjoy the trap ranger.

I litteraly won 99% of the 1vs1 and a lot of 1vs2 while roaming in the borderlands (against BB and JS who are not know to have a strong roaming comunity)

But then sunday on a boredom I changed few things and made this build :

This build felt so much stronger than the first one, on top of applied strenght I can stack up 15 might for a nice condi burst, and with the Omnomberry ghost I get a nice healing every 2 or 3 crits.

Condition specs are always powerful small scale but this might be over the top Nice build, I’ll bet it will create lots of qq! They will never hit you with evade and stealth, and you keep pounding them with conditions. Might even get thief level qq.

I do enjoy the trapper runes too, but more for use in breaking target in zerg situations. Just need flame trap for that.

I’ve run into a couple trap rangers and just wrecked them. Once on my power ranger since I had the range/rapid fire stealth tracking, and once on my condi regen ranger. I hit him with entangle and it was game over.

I also went against 1 on my necro. Let’s just say necro is pretty much a hard counter to a trapper ranger.

I can see how that build could be pretty effective against other professions though. Too bad I’ll never get to try them out in WvW since I absolutely hate crafting.

It might be over the top yeah, but I love to see big numbers :P, it’s also good to speed clear camps.

I would love to get a new Elite trap, maybe a condi cleanse/water field or a smoke field, but that’s maybe too much to ask.

I still have to fight against really good roamers, but 1 thing is sure, condi necro is a hard counter.

I run hybrid and yes, they’re quite powerful. However, it has problems with Mesmers (AI constantly eating your traps etc.) and more “ranged” specs in general (like other power rangers) since it’s not so easy to aim players to walk through your traps as it is on conquest pvp. Trapper runes with traps are brilliant against melee attackers, but have problem with “full cheese meta” on WvW sometimes.
