When I first read these two lines:

One specialization will have access to traps…

We’ll also be reusing old types of skills like shouts and traps to create more synergy with the Rune system.

I thought for a minute that maybe druids would be elite trappers. But now as I think about it, I think it’s more likely that this means that some class that doesn’t have traps now will get trap utilities (and maybe a trap heal and trap elite?)

Do you think that’s the right interpretation?

If so, what profession would you guess gains traps in their elite specialization?

I can’t imagine they’d give us a set of utilities we already have. I could see engineers getting them.

I read it to mean another class will get traps.

My guess is going to Mesmers. Could have some crazy mind-trap style skills^^

I dont think engineer because 1) they have bombs which are resable to a trap.
2)ATM only medium armor classes have access to traps and i think they want give traps to a different armor type class. Best canidate is mesmer but could also work for a havey armor like warriors or gurdains(with their new bow )

Really wouldnt suit Rangers. We depend on our evades on our weapons for survival, unlike the Necro who just face take everything. Losing our weapon skills to use traps would be pretty bad.

Why not? because rangers already have a set of traps. Druids will have to do with the current rangers trap. On the other hand, I to think the best candidate for traps are :

- Mesmer : Mind trap with slowing condition really fit the so called chronomancer that lots of mesmer want to have.
- Engeneer : They should obviously be able to create trap, c’mon that’s basic Engeniery. (but on the other hand this will look a lot like bomb and mines. That’s why it’s my secondary guess)

For the shout… well I guess that will be the necromancer burden.

No core profession should be balanced around an optional elite specialization.

Clearly necromancer shouts will just be a list of profanities they can scream at their Flesh Golem to make it do what they want for a change.

I hear ranger shouts are getting a similar fix.

Trying to fit HS into a theme, as a.net saied every skill will be part a skill theme, so could HS become a trap?(we have survival heal- TU, shout heal HAO and a spirit heal) I dont c HS as a signet. OR, -TU is going to become signet and HS survival?

They could still put #4&5 as traps on the staff, then have evasion on 1,2 or 3. Then we would have 5 traps we could use, not counting HS if it becomes a trap or if they add an elite trap for druid. Even if they put 5 traps on staff (which I doubt), we would still have 3 utility skills for evasion and survivial and having 9 traps on your bar with trapper runes, TE and TP would be AMAZING! GW1 staff trapper again! Yay!
