i have 75% boon duration, 38% crit dmg, 60% crit chance, 1600power, 1200condition dmg, 600 healing power, 50% condition duration, 3 combo fields.on top 2900 armor an 20k hp + massive evade and easy 14sec protection uptime. when i ask my guild what class i should bring, warrior, guardian or ranger they always say ranger. for small scale wvw fights ( 3-10 ppl is our group size ) it is the stongest dmg/support compromise in gw2 for wvw.

/agree and i have a similar build, and i love it…but still for very small groups…it’s not really World versus World anymore…it’s more like GvG
I still don’t see the role of a ranger in large scale battle/defense who’s the core of Worlds versus Worlds

This perma-fury talk is so sad…. You have to kitten up your dps, use healing boon-duration runes + non-dps pet to achieve that. I guess I can now officially say that I switched to Ele after crafting 12 legendaries for Ranger and im sad to say that I’m having such a blast…
Ele can solo execute 6+ (six, you read it right) blast finishers on fire field withing 10 sec of fight, each blast finisher also gives aoe fury for 10 sec (60 sec total). After 30 sec of fight im capped at 25 might stacks, my team sits on 17+, if you add up guardian or warrior for might or another ele – we all capped at 25 might stacks and real perma fury (1min 30+ no 26/28 bullkitten). All of this is a part of DPS rotation in DPS build – im not sacrificing anything. Also if kitten up happens I can insta switch to water, heal twice for 2K AOE + give regen + remove 3 conditions (almost insta), I can stay in water and heal for more but it usually is not needed even with bad pugs
Its just so sad to see how other classes can do real support while Rangers are blind enough to discuss “26/28 fury uptime”. These issues have been brought up on forums many times by experienced players. The only way to draw real attention to them is to abandon class completely. DO NOT PLAY IT – let Arenanet see their own metrics. According to their last metrics Ranger is 2nd most popular class – they obviously think that Ranger is perfectly fine.
They clearly do not acknowledge any real problems, thats why we do not see any group oriented buffs to rangers. Last two ranger buffs – stealth on LB and reveal on sickem – niche kitten for solo play/roaming.

the sad part is, i can easily kill your ele with 2 trait modifications. i dont care if a class can do 1 or 2 things better then the ranger, it is the whole concept, the vareity the ranger gives me. im loving it more and more. every day on my ranger is a good day. call me crazy or stupid, because i dont go the easiest way. i dont care. ill always stay with my ranger. it is the optimal class for my playstile and fullfills its task more then satisfactory

warhorn is not good because the slow recharge time. the main problem its a mixed weapon. party support and single target dmg. i dont need one if i need the other. warrior horn cure immo, give vigor, swiftness, weakness to the enemy (-50% dmg is better as the 20% crit), blast finisher and have faster recharge.
i think the main problem is we dent have a good main hand weapon. axe off is legit.

Isn’t that the archetype of the Ranger anyway? That lone roamer (with/out his pet) that drew us to the class? That scout that can hold his own when not overwhelmed by numerical superiority?
IDK, I play my Ranger for exactly not “following the crowd.” If I’m unwelcome in the dungeon (which I despise anyway) or the “crowd” (no place for me in GvG or zerg), I don’t really mind. I know I contribute when I do grace others with my presence. I don’t mean that as haughty, just that I am not a burden when not wanting to be alone. I much prefer alone though.

4. When the devs got to Guardian and Warrior you could see they got very excited.
I really thought Anet was pushing for the whole feedback and collaborative development? I have seen nothing implemented, besides the protection on dodge, that most people have been suggesting. From simple things like larger pet pet sizes as the Ranger lvls, to bigger things such as a re worked pet mechanic. Not sure of Anet has anyone in house that likes/plays/cares for the Ranger class.
That’s not really suprising at all. Straight quote from Jon before the game was launched.
‘The guardian is the first time I’ve felt I’m playing that class I want to play, but this profession does it in the way that I’ve been waiting for since 4th grade. That idea that it doesn’t have to be so direct and so specific and you can still feel like you’re doing other cool things whilst still supporting your allies.’
They clearly had a direction and vision when they were designing guardian. And passion. And it shows on the end product.
Ranger on the other hand was put together from two early developement professions marksman and warden. So it really wasnt anyones passion, just something they glued together so they got 8 professions to the end product.
It’s sad to see such unprofessionalism. If they would work in any other business and ranger was their end product they would have no customers left and gone bankrupt long time ago.

Ya, I’m right there with you Skady except I’m only 2 legendaries deep. Maybe someday the devs will learn what the ranger traits are (companions defense is 15 in WS to start). Lol

so you basically cant do anything well? sounds like a terrible build man.
Warhorn is actually pretty good with a sigil of earth due to 16 rapid attacks…
But ya expect the warrior and guardian calls from wvw commanders to continue. Guardians just got huge insane buffs to hallowed ground and another ability. They give +20% boon duration while in hallowed ground and – condition duration aoe somewhere else. If you’re a guardian, you should be loving this patch already.
my cleric support guardian is basically going backflips right now. i can cleanse 12 conditions in an AOE from myself and 4 other people (used to be only 9) while outputting close to 20k aoe heals over a few seconds.

Your allies might not have boon duration. You have to go 20 into a tree for 20% boon duration or take runes with boon duration. I mean, that’s going open up a lot of things for teamplay. And in wvw? It’s going to be huge. Watch: everyone will have it on their bars when zerging.

Your allies might not have boon duration.
they dont, but i can hand out just about every boon in the game on a low cooldown. protection, stability, regen, swiftness, aegis, might. when i apply my boons to others, they benefit from the long duration as well.
what blew my mind when i was tinkering with a spirit support ranger 6 months ago was that my boon duration did not apply to my group. so spirit of stone proc did not give them MY protection of 6 seconds. this made me drop the spirit ranger in wvw forever. the only boons we can perma give to others are regen, swiftness and fury, arguably the least useful boons in the game.
