Well what I would do:

- critical damage to marksmanship and condition duration to skirmishing
-combine agility training with pet prowess into a single trait and move it to the master level
-move quick draw to adept level
-carnivorous appetite affects ranger as well. ICD of 1 second
-new minor trait “random cool name”- convert 1 condition into a boon on weapon swap (ICD 9 seconds)
-opening strike refreshes on weapon swap as well. Pet opening strike refreshes on Pet swap as well.

There, i fixed it :p

That carnivorous appetite under 1s ICD would be a bit OP, 3~5s sounds more reasonable.
Everything else would be just amazing.

Since it is reliant on crit the ranger has to spec zerker/rabid/knights to benefit from it. Those amulets don’t have much sustain anyway so the change really isn’t that OP.

Regen heals for more with a settler’s amulet.

That is what i was aiming at, for sustain procs with offensive gear. It is not passive play, you have to be attacking to heal up.

Was there something mentioned about pet changes to prevent them from getting killed in a few seconds in the middle of a zerg vs zerg battle?

Or even better, that aspect feature so we can stow pets?

They would really need to make an amendment for PvE/WvW that decreases the amount of damage the pet takes by 50%. That alone would make a lot of difference. Besides, I think we all know people aim for the Ranger first in WvW, not the pet.

Right, but my pet dies from massive aoe and cleave damage, not damage targeted at the pet (we are talking about zerg vs zerg here, not roaming).

Simply solved by the aspect feature, let me stow the pet for the same % it is supposed to do.
Upside: you don’t have to micro manage the pet (and honestly, in these conditions it’s impossible to do so);
downside: you lose the pet’s utility.

Everything else would be just amazing.

It requires a constant stream of crits to fuel. No healing when not attacking is enough to balance it.

A cooldown of 5 seconds would make it barely better than most health regen food.

About the carnivorous appetite OP thing, I was thinking outside PvP, stacking food + SotW + TU + regens + sigil of blood + the suggested carnivorous appetite rangers would actually have too much healing (in combat), but in PvP the 1s CD would be totally fine.

Predator’s Onslaught gives me a weird vibe. Like the big signet changes are ushering in a bold new world where both Ranger & pet (which is to say, the “whole character”) benefit from buffs equally, but this trait is a relic of a less egalitarian age…

Seems fine balance-wise though, considering it an 8%-ish buff that’s relatively easy to activate.

Now the only real question is – when the heck is ANeT going to implement the changes? I had really been hoping it was going to happen last week when the new content was released. Let’s hope it is soon.

just of the top of my head i don’t think these changes we be seen before sometime in October.

Reason 1: they are doing 2 classes a fortnight so:
ranger-engi 25/7;
x-x 8/8;
x-x 22/8; and
x-x 5/9;
Add about a month for the dust to settle and the forums to calm down abit your in October.

Reason 2: October is 6 months after the 15th of April patch, i think that i read somewhere that they plan on doing major updates twice a year.

On another note, do you think that each class is going to be given a reveal buff? i hope so, as it hopfully will mean people will bring other classes in to wvw roaming and i wont be fighting thief’s and mez’s all the time and the ones that i do fight my be less dependent on stealth

Honestly I hope all classes do end up with a reveal skill, as that might shake things up a bit (from a thief’s perspective too, I’m bored of SA being so necessary in WvW). I do hope thieves get something shiny too though, otherwise you’re going to be seeing a LOT of S/D thieves :P

Any decent player will stay ontop of you with relative ease and this is why tpvp is a nightmare atm, nowhere near enough evasive mechanics to survive intelligent dps.

I have to disagree. Lb3, sword 2, sword 3, dag 4, lightening reflexes, wolf f2, bark skin…I survive longer on glassbow than I do on spirits!

I was hoping for sword improvements

Yeah, me too. I would have been thrilled if they had just eliminated the loss of player movement control in the lengthy Sword-1 attack sequence, which renders sword pretty much unusable in situations where red circles appear… you see them spawning on your location, you hit escape, dodge, run, jump, everything you can think of, but what does your player do? She stands there in the red circles, mindlessly finishing her interminable sword attack animation despite all the dodge/run/jump/escape controls being spammed… and then, of course, she dies.

Even more fun is when the target mob unexpectedly moves close to the edge of a platform and the silly Sword-1 attack movements make her follow the mob to the edge even though I didn’t move her, and then just fall off the edge of the platform when the unstoppable attack animation makes her circle around the mob… and there’s absolutely nothing you can do about it even though you see it coming- you just can’t make the game stop that attack until it’s kitten good and ready.

So yeah, Greatsword is the only viable Ranger melee weapon in dungeons, IMHO. Wish they had fixed sword, but oh well. Sword is still fun to use in open-world PvE.

It isn’t? I haven’t seen it connected to the bow, just some flowers cyrcling around it.

Maybe an evade on the 3rd in the aa sequence ala greatsword would fix some of that…. Hmmmmmmm

Funny thing is tho’, if you look at the red circle you’ll see a hook that was probably designed to hold the bow-string and who knows why they haven’t used that.

Ok, I do know. The animation didn’t matched the design. But instead of redesigning the bow they simply moved the bow-string. Sloppy design รก la ANet, as we’re used to.

Well see the thing is with Kudzu, one could, if they so chose, to make a perfect argument about how the weapon is beautiful and the most suitable legendary for rangers, down to every last detail, including that added on excuse for a bowstring that looks like a last minute detail, which one could argue completes the feel of the ranger down to every last detail, including that nice little metaphor for a class mechanic.

If one so chose to do so that is. Not saying that I think that or anything. I love the forced 30% dps mechanic that makes rangers beastmasters by default.
