Guild Wars 2

New build for this 2nd video. This will likely be my regular WvW build from now on since i find it a good mix of surviveability and damage. The loss of Martial Mastery, Bark Skin, 6th Dwayna Rune Effect and Energy Sigils really affects my ability to just negate a ton of damage but its not so bad if i time my dodges well and my weapon evade/block. The Permanent Fury/Swiftness and 6-9 Stacks of Might for me and my pet really help out the damage. First few clips is showcasing the damage potential of the build against some unfortunate targets, then the rest is 1vX.

This is great! I love the sword and warhorn combination as well, watching this is making me consider going full melee. I noticed you use Sic ‘Em, have you noticed at all if it still get cancelled a lot or does it not with your jaguar? I use jaguar as well and if it doesn’t… that’s a lot of extra power for the pet.

Not to do with the build, but, I’m happy somebody else uses the weapon skins I have and love, this made me happier than it should have, haha!

It still get’s canceled but very rarely because ive found most things that cancel it, its not perfect though. The damage increase is so good though.

I’ve been trying to crack this nut for a while, but it seems like you got there first xD. 15 in both skirmishing and nature magic, paired with sigils of battle always seemed the obvious choice. After that, I couldn’t seem to find traits that felt right.

The sword/warhorn pairing along with sic’ em is really nice though. I’ve been playing a more conventional cleric bunker in pvp, using both of those. The Fury from the warhorn makes a noticeable difference in your dps, and sic’em, despite it’s quirks is just amazing. Your pet can run down players with perma swiftness. It’s fun.

Anyways, I’m off to the mists now to give your build a try.

Also, using GS auto to play find the thief. That gets a bump cuz it’s one of the best games to play.

I’m kinda disappointed at the skill level of your foes. Seriously, does no one use condition damage or even know to kite birds/cats in wvw?

Another nice video. Being able to dodge and evade so well sure pays off by allowing you to drop Natural Healing and pick up more offense.

The parts I like the most are:

1. Watching thieves on the defensive. Nice to see for a change.
2. Really like that you have the abilty to reset a fight. I am horrible at that. I start a fight and suddenly turn into Leroy Jenkins.

I have literally 20+hours of footage from the past week and there are 3 total fights that end in a draw, everybody else gets facerolled. Thats just the general concensus in any MMO. Anyone who actually is any good will always end up being some sort of stalemate, or nowhere to be found in general.

Pretty much this. You run into the random ranger and you will just destroy him then if you fight one of the good rangers on the forums with your own ranger it becomes a fight of who makes a mistake to gain an edge in the fight.

nice work. i have used this build extensively since week 1. it is quite versatile. this spec gets you the best / most consistent pet dps of any spec i have tried. fortifying bond is so nice to have.

1 thing to try playing around with is lyssa runes, since all buffs will be shared with pet & gives you a full condi wipe that helps without 30 in wilderness.

But yea , 0 15 10 15 30 is very versatile with its gear choice , weapon choice and pet choice . I have been running runes of altruism as it is an additional 15% boon duration, 3 stacks of might and fury on heal . Essentially you can go perma fury with that .
Very useful in dungeon groups as well, just put on healing spring , and every 30 seconds you apply might , fury , regen, vigor and condition cleanse on the whole group . Add a jungle stalker and fern hound and be a ranger guardian lols

Yeap, when I wasn’t running with my 8man on Merlin, I spent the vast majority of my time soloing…

Did the same in Warhammer Online as well.

It’s a bit ridiculous how many critical hits you got, not to mention the damage on them, considering you only have an 11% base critical chance and 15% critical damage. Some great gameplay, though.

You need 25% Boon Duration to give your pet perma Fury/Swiftness with Warhorn 5 and weapon swap. Another thing is that 4 dwayna runes give me like 90% uptime on regen. I find lyssa runes pretty bad TBH to buff the pet.

Im 0/15/15/15/25 but yah its a very good build. Those rune choices are good for PvE groups i just like my Regen.

This is a nice build man. I always like things that kinda go against the grain a bit, and a melee ranger usually does lol. I was curious though, would you happen to have a more bunker version for TPvP you could share with me? I have some guildies who formed a TPvP team and we need a bunker. I tried the Guardian thing, but that just isn’t really fun imo. So I’m trying to learn ways to bunker from more knowledgeable rangers like yourself.

0/0/30/10/30 or 0/0/30/20/20 are your options. Cleric amulet with dwayna runes. Sigil of life and energy sigil.

Troll Unguent or Healing Spring.
Lightning Reflexes and Signet of the Wild. 3rd utility is Quickness for stomps/rez or Signet of Renewal. Sic em is an option too. Rampage as one for Elite.

WS line you take Survival Cooldowns. Sword cooldowns. 3rd trait Bark Skin or Empathic Bond. Vigor on Heal trait is an option ONLY if you run Healing spring but Vigor doesnt stack with 50% endurance Trait.
NM you take 33% Regen trait and if you go 20 NM you get protection on Crit.
BM you take Mighty Swap and 20% CD reduction to F2. If you go 30 BM you get the pet heal.

As always you can tweak your build to what you like or your group comp. I usually run Jaguar and Wolf pet.

What weapons do you suggest as a bunker?

Sword/Dagger and Greatsword.

Maybe it’s just me, but I’m finding that the chance for regen to proc (5%) from the Dwayna runes is abysmally small. I put together a basic gear setup based on your first build, and it just seems like regen isn’t up all that much.

I was considering swapping to soldier armor, and a full set of Melandru runes (with lemongrass soup), and taking the 10 in nature magic and rolling it into Skirmishing for the +30% damage for the pet. With the 65% reduction in conditions, I’d swap Lightning Reflexes out for Signet of Stone.

It procs pretty often for me. I recommend Knight over Soldier if you go that route.

I will say using nearly identical gear (minus the runes), my ranger seems a lot tankier than my thief. While I enjoy my thief, the ranger just seems to match my playstyle a lot more.

Choosing soldier is mostly habit from playing the thief. If I went Knight over soldier, would I really miss the extra vitality? Having a lot less regen would make me think that I’d want to add vitality to compensate.

No use in extra vitality if you cant heal it. Also knight has more toughness than Cleric. TBH i only advocate extra vitality from gear on eles and thiefs and even then 16K seems the sweet spot.

You NEED a stun Breaker. Also tbe pets heal for more trait is crap. Use the bleed on crits for cats.

It seems much much higher to me, I find it procs constantly it could be me getting hit alot wich I am, cause I’m very good at picking fights with multiple people (certainly not always for the win but it’s fun, lol) so no matter how well I dodge I still get hit plenty but even considering that I felt it seemed like a high proc rate, I’m wondering if minor condition ticks can proc it if so that would be a reasonable explanation I must go test this now.

Im aware protection gets used up due to the dodge but the heal is pretty bad for yourself. Its 133 every 3 seconds for yourself.

I assume you’ve probably tried going 20 each in WS and BM too and found the reduced sword skill cooldown trait wasn’t worth the tradeoff of the 25 BM trait?
