Looks good and I enjoyed it. As fas as I can tell its the same build as before except you changed utilities and now use Citadel Runes (kind of obvious when you get random Fury and Bombs spawning under you lol).

Awesome Video, could you please give us a deeper look into this build on the levels of traits and armor type that have rune of the citadel?

I see the effect of the transfer the knockback to the pet (WS III)+ CompanionĀ“s Defense and the traps are bigger and ground targeted (skirmishing VIII). Also i see the 10 point on BM for faster pet swap. I can guess you ar using Rejuvenation aswell.

What i see:
At least 20 point in skirmishing. At least 5 point on NM – WS. At least 10 on BM.

Very nice Sol, though I’m not sure I could roam without the 25% runspeed.

I’d love to find thieves like the one you were fighting, that did practically nothing the entire fight. Can you loan them to me? <grins evily>

Nice trap choice, and it was painful to see Lightning Reflexes not work for you, when you were downed once, which is painful to me only beause the stun breakers I’ve used with other classes work so much better, for instance on my Thief the “2” sword attack will teleport you no matter what is on you, including roots, and the Shortbow “5” will teleport you with roots on you as well, but our Lightning Reflexes will trigger without much, if at all happening.

I’ve always wondered how well Citadel Runes would work, but didn’t want to replace my current runes. Wish you could slot multiple runes in an armor, and choose the one you want, and such.

nice vid. you make the build seem quite effective, but to be honest, i wouldnt be so sure it works against decent opponents.

you have next to no survivability, and zero mobility. and you never get trained by a good opponent in your video. i guess im saying three things: 1) you make the build look good when it’s actually quite average, 2) you dont fight good opponents, and 3) i guess traps just arent my preference so i wouldnt roll with this build.

Hi, Glad everyone enjoyed the video, and yes I do understand the players I faced aren’t highly skilled but the point was to show what I’m doing.

I play differently to most rangers I like using aggressive skills as my survivability. But each to there own. I might go into detail at some point about how I’m meant to run my build, but that will have to wait till I’m less busy.

So I will give you guys little run down, the current build I run is 0/20/30/5/15.

Reason I use traps, spike trap does cripples/immobilize/bleed, flame trap does burning and works as combo field.

Now to explain the madness behind the traps.

Flame Trap: I use flame trap for its combo field giving me 3 seconds of burning every 12 seconds with a tick of 403, with a pulse damage of 163. Now your pulse damage is based off your power/precision so with 70% critical chance (based off my stat’s) it can hit around 300-400 damage per pulse and on avg, you will almost critical all 3 pulses. Now I use food which has 66% chance to gain 325 health so each pulse also gives me chance gaining health.

Now I trait where each critical has chance to bleed for 1 second with 56 damage each time. So you can see why with only 300 in condition damage my flame trap does massive amounts of damage while giving me survivability.

Spike Trap, I use spike to give me map control and hold my target in my flame trap it works the same as flame trap, the pulses are based off my power/precision. Now allot of players are not aware when you throw spike trap at someone it will immobilize this helps me interrupt there movement and any skills they might be trying to use on me.

So now lets talk about the survivability these 2 traps offer, so I throw my trap at my target he gets immobilize in my flame trap, so I’m getting all the damage from both traps hitting my target.

So now my pet can hit my target chances are he will knock-down my target in my traps disabling there movement ability to counter, now add in the damage from my bow. A short bow will hit around 3 times a second and I run high Power/Precision so I always have 70% chance to critical. In the time frame of 3-5 seconds I have put the target on the complete back foot they rushing to save themselves.

Now you pet-swap and they get knocked down again or AoE Fear/Immobilize so I’ve disabled fear amount of targets that might be attacking me. Now sure you won’t always get the perfect combo. So do the maths you have just railed your targets with insane amount of damage. Your getting stupid amounts of heals from your food thanks to all the different skills criting at the same time.

So this is just one part of my build, the healing off that combo is more then any ranger bunker build can even come close to.

This build murders d/d eles, it stops mesmers from being able to get on top of you, it stops burst thief’s (vs burst thief’s they land in your traps and disable themselves while you lightning reflex away) they the easiest class for me to beat. Also lightning reflex is based off your power/precision as well so if a thief lands on you just lightning reflex away good chance it will hit 1000-1200 damage + the bleed stack, and thanks to runes I rune seems to proc the bomb allot which also is based off my power/precision giving me extra 1000+ damage which can stack bleeds and offer me 325 heal from my food.

This just one part to my build. I’ve yet to get some footage of some hardcore fights keep forgetting to turn fraps on.

Also I attend Fight Night, in WvW this build is extremely effective. I have countless player’s I’ve faced and they all agree with how effective it is in 1v1. I’ve lost once to to friend who plays guardian, battle went for 20 mins and it was matter who made the first mistake would lose.

what gear do you use if you dont mind me asking? u can get heals from crits using food ??
thats crazy. how does that work? my bunker ranger i run in wvw has close to 500HPS when regen is up, which is almost always, and about 1k HPS when SoN is up, if it’s not killed (that’s all in addition to near-perma vigor and 2 energy sigils).

glad to hear your build is effective in duels. i imagined it getting shredded by good thieves and shatter mesmers.

Now lets talk about my Shortbow, I use Sigil of Air its more effective for single target damage, it also based off your power/precision now in my video its hard to see the damage at times but for e.g say I hit a target for 800 critical damage I have 30% chance of my Air to proc, most of the time its every 5-10 seconds due to how offen I critical. It normally hits for same as my bow sometimes more.

So I just hit my target for 800+800, now lets say they both critical I have 66% chance to gain 325 life off this one attack so if both gain life that’s a nice heal.

Now add in chance of adding bleeding to that as well and add on factor that I’m most likely flanking my target, so I’ve just hit them with 3 stacks of bleed + sigil of air and my normal bow attack.

The shortbow attacks so fast you can stack up great deal of damage in very short amount of time. Make the shortbow the most viable weapon we have it will out damage. People seem to forget the down time in sword combat and the LB is only really good for zerg fighting.

Now I run runes where I have 5% chance to drop a bomb and well it seems to drop allot. It also is based off my power/precision so it always seems to hit over 1k damage and if it critical I have chance adding a bleed and gaining life.

This is why I don’t run bunker skills (signets) or any real defencive skills, lightning reflex is just extra damage skill with stun breaker and dodge and vigor regen can’t ask for much more.

As for gear I use, Knight’s armor set, I use Knights accessories with Berserker jewels and Assassins backpack. I use Berserker Weapons with Sigil of Air I’m yet to buy my Bloodlust sigil for my horn.

I use 2 different foods one that ups my power and other one does precision and gains life on critical, I have around 2100 Power 50% critical chance without fury up.

Runes of Citadel are best suited for my build, the Power/Bombs/Fury for 30 seconds.

Thief’s and Mesmers aren’t much of a problem 1v1, I do run different armor setup and change our lightning reflexes vs P/D thief’s and I use offhand Axe over the horn, same trait line same pets I change one major trait for more regen as P/D thief won’t proc the effect.

Vs Mesmers my traps keep there clones at range and if they get on top of me they take allot of damage and I always save my wolf on pet swap so I can fear them.

He uses 0/20/30/5/15 the build is Power/Precision focused and his traps are for CC and combo filed, Flame ticks for 400 with his 300 condi damage so its huge. (Bump for a cool vid and build)
