WHERE ARE THE DEVS FOR THIS FORUM?
You wont get a reply on debates about anything. Most of the real issue have been comented on by devs in the past. When they do talk to the players they act like what was said is a binding contract and when it doesnt come to pass the players act like they were lied to. With treatmeant like this it’s no wonder why the dont make comments unless it’s a must.
Honestly what do you want them to say. If something is a bug they can confirm it. They can also let you know when the next big update is. As far as what is in the update you will see when it comes out. So what else do you want.
They dont owe us any explainations of why x was done. In short it’s in the best interest of the game as they see it.
everyone should fear becoming mentally clouded and obsessed with one small section of truth.

You are dead wrong. I am a customer and if they want me to spend real world dollars in their store, they sure as heck do owe me answers. If they don’t expect another dime from me, then you’re right…they can do whatever they want.
I can’t speak for everyone on this forum, but as far as this situation concerns me, I didn’t start where I currently find myself on this issue, I was led here.
I’d just like to know what was reverted back because of “risk factor”, which caused the Rangers to be left out of an update completely. I’d also like to know what details he kept quiet and called a “spoiler”.

Did you read your EULA. I didnt see anywhere in there that they owe you answers.
I’m sure you got your $80 dollars worth of play time and then some. The have a policy not to reveal things before they are ready to be implemented.
So I asked what do you want them to say. They can tell you when x will be fixed they don’t know and if its ready it would be in the game.
They have the whole game to worry about not just one class. They have added new content and they are trying to make Gw2 an E-sport. To do that classes need to be balance. When is that on thier time line.
Honestly I rather Dev spend the time working rather than answering the same question a million times. Its a better use of man hours.
everyone should fear becoming mentally clouded and obsessed with one small section of truth.
to be fair, there is some difference beetween answering a question a million times/ reading the forums so much that your work is slowed down and not posting in 4 months.
Personally, i dont expect dev interaction, where community ideas or future balance changes are openly discussed with their community… thats just not going to happen.
What i would like, is a simple, honest, blunt one-liner, taking 10 seconds of their time, even a “ranger is fine, there are no reworks scheduled in the next month” would be great.
Working on equipping a char with full ascended, utility infusions , legendaries, raising fractal rank etc is a long term investment, and ‘d like to know if i’m wasting my time. That feeling , every month, waiting with excitement for the patch notes, speculating, and then finally scrolling down to the ranger section just to discover things only got worse – thats what kills me

^ This.
Though I don’t wait with excitment anymore :|

The EULA. The last bastion of fans with an agenda but without an argument.
Reading are fundamental. Read what I wrote. If my original expenditure to buy the game is ALL that ArenaNet wants, then you’re right, they don’t have to answer questions. But, if they want my dollars in a continuing way in their store (long term sustainment) then they most definitely better give us some answers.
How long do you think this game will last if the ONLY income to ArenaNet is the original purchase?

@OP, I can tell you where they’re not.
But hey, on the bright side we’re jaded now, it doesn’t sting as much to find them apathetic, incompetent and deaf to our cries of injustice.
let me give you a good example WHY ArenaNET won’t give out details. I have been working in a modding team (doing some minor modwork, like infocards) for an old game.
Whenever the developers go post some changes that is going to happen, a 3 way battle starts brewing. The ones fighting is the one who want it, the indifferent trolls and haters… and it ends in a inferno every kitten time, regardless if the update is exactly what the players has asked for or not.
Because if ArenaNET went public saying “We are gonna buff ranger bow damage by 50%, increase bow max range by 200, give pets 50% more survivability in WvW, rework the trait lines and give them a shiny new armor set to use”, all other classes then ranger would go "Y U NO BUFF US? YOU STUPID “#=)”=¤#“?=¤)” “NERF RANGERS, TOO OP” “OP RANGER INSTAKILL FORM MILES AWAY”
and then we got the indifferent and ungrateful trolls “U BUFF US, BUT NO BUGFIX, ANET IS KITTEN, I QUIT!!!!”
see where this is going?
If you want something to be done, you have to do it behind peoples backs. Just look at governments all over the world. We rarely get to hear what the army or police is up to before weeks/months/years/decades have passed. And even then the info we get is censored and carefully checked….
If you want ranger class fixed, you got three options;
A) Shut up and wait
B) just quit the kitten game and go back to WoW
C) get a major in computer programming and apply for a job in the devteam
If these options doesnt work out for you, then really, the only option left is option B. But ArenaNET along with 80% of the forum knows that the “I QUIT” only reroll on a new account to avoid flaming, and keep on trolling with their thiefs. “I QUIT” doesnt help, it doesnt fix, it doesnt even remotely help yourself. It simply annoys.
Also, the EULA, like most EULA’s have that one golden line “We reserve the right to do whatever the heck we want, period!” Which effectively destroys any possibility to sue and or threaten the company without solid proof that their actions has had an irreversible and unavoidable detrimental effect on your life.

Go look at the Dev Tracker, they’re not responding to any threads other than board moderators saying… thread closed, or someone needing help with a bug or something mundane. Could be they’ve finally learned the lesson of promising something then having mud on the face for having to retract what was promised.
Would we like interaction? Sure, but the person most likely to be interacted with isn’t the person who makes the final decision. If they get out voted after making promises, well that’s bad… Real bad. I have zero trust in what Jon say’s now, he’s mis lead all of us.
The sad thing… They rarly come here and talk to us AFTER they’ve made a change to say why or say what… This I WOULD like to see more of. The promise of what is coming, unless it is a game break issue, is of little consequence.

Prysin, we’re not asking for hints. We just want a simple “We’re working on it” and maybe some comments on issues we present, or a simple “We don’t give a Farrk”. Responses keep us refreshed, like they aren’t just ignoring us outright and sweeping us under the rug.
Well, ANets dungeon designer asked what is wrong with rangers and dungeons. So obviously ANet believes rangers are fine and needs no attention ;-)
Rangers have their highs and lows like every other class. They have really good DPS, but they have to work at it a bit more than other classes like warrior or mesmer. It’s possible just not as easy.
As for ranger balance, we have frequent meetings about balance where we discuss that sort of stuff – I go to those meetings on behalf of dungeon content and to lend my experience with ranger knowledge.
I personally accept the tradeoff of damage for survivability (Can’t do damage if you’re dead). I tend to run a condition build using shortbow and sword\dagger, and focus on being supportive and holding aggro while keeping a steady output of DPS through conditions. Rangers have an incredible amount of evasion and damage mitigation if you are very focused and know when to use your skills and heals (prot on dodge roll, vigor on heals) means you can keep prot for when you mess up, and always have evasions ready. There are some very successful dungeon builds, but most of them aren’t DPS focused.
We’re working on ideas for making pets better in dungeons. There’s a list of reasons we can’t just tweak a number and call it good (it wouldn’t actually solve the problem), but it is something we are aware of and working on.
One of the things you have to think about, is how the game is played. If we buff rangers just for dungeons, than they are too strong for the open world. Considering I can solo most content in the open world by letting my pet tank, I feel ranger is very powerful outside of dungeons. We can’t have rangers that change based on PvP, open world, and dungeons because that gets too confusing for players and puts us on a slippery slope. Whatever we do to the ranger, it has to happen in both the open world and dungeons, so it requires more than just number tweaks. You see a lot of bots as rangers for that very reason – they are really strong open world classes, and buffing them for the sake of dungeons doesn’t work out to being a good fix.
Wow this is getting long. I should go to the class balance forums some time, lol. Sorry for the text wall!

Here you go.
Funny thing is, while beeing the worst class in the game, we still expect every patch to be a nerf, which is true all so often.
Well, dungeon dev said Rangers have a few very viable dungeon builds, just not DPS ones. So, supposedly Rangers are fine. And they can supposedly do dps like mesmers and warriors.
Do you seriously believe Anet devs know what they’re talking about when it comes to balance?
