Wanted to share my build - updated build
If only you had a mining pick.
fifteen characters?
ummmm…… is this a joke?
You have only that pitiful sharpening edge and poison as condition, yet you choose condition oriented gears and rune?
Moving on… Nothing to see here.
Your build is all over the place.
You have ok condition damage but no condition application.
You have marksmanship/longbow traits but no power, precision, or ferocity.
Untraited signets. One condition removal. Undead runes with no toughness.
And so on…
Start by fixing your gear.
If you want use longbow go full zerker.
If you want conditions use dire with shortbow or axe/ dagger and sword/torch.
If you want hybrid use celestial, and the same weapons as above.

I’ll do you one better. AR and Ebay are matched up this week, I’ll meet you in obsidean sanctum and duel you.

I’ll be in Southsun farming Karka this morning for at least the next hour or so…come see if you like
I hope you are not farming karka with that semi condition build.
So your idea of a good build is being able to slowly kill open world PvE mobs? By that standard I could run a build that doesn’t even have a weapon equipped and call it effective.
You invested so much in condi damage but you are only able to apply poison and about 4 bleeds, maybe 5 if you’re lucky. For some reason you are running 2 corruption sigils. You only have 1 way to remove condi’s and it’s on a 60 sec cooldown. Your armor is crazy low for a condi build especially considering your lack of damage, and you also invested way to many resources to healing when all you have is a very mediocre heal and no access to regen.
I was being serious when I asked if you were joking because nothing about your build makes any sense.
LGN
Personally I think you should completely scrap your build and start over but here are some changes you could make that would make it a lot more effective without having to spend very much http://gw2skills.net/editor/?fNEQNAV8fjEq0xa/KusQ1aAAhaVA0OH23w29RsDjdBLOA-TRTAABxoJQhjAAoqk8kyjc0JAh5HAeAAdcQACSdDLuAA0pErn9HaTJIpAUUsF-e

Ok, I’ve seen his action..
He killed like half or slower than my killing speed, and does minimal condition damage either. (In LB he rarely has any bleed because he has rly low crit chance). Oh, and survivability is a none issue in open world, so you really don’t need to mention it at all.
I kind of understand why sometimes Breach or Vine or many group events in Season 1 will fail… Probably because of those self proclaim people.
(edited by Toxsa.2701)
I wasn’t self proclaiming anything. All I came here to do was share a build that I enjoy and all I do is get flamed for it. You don’t have to like it and I’m not trying to prove anything. I don’t really do PvP or WWW…I wanted something different for myself that I found fun, not trying to be a ‘one hit wonder’. ..I have 7 other 80’s that are meta for that.
…And I’m a ‘she’ not a ‘he’.
(edited by GussJr.1643)
Well, you cannot expect to post a build for people to see and them not comment on it when it is clearly lacking (to them). If you like to play bleeds on LB, fine, just have actual gear designed for the job. Salvage out all your exotics and replace them with Sinister, replace the runes with Mad King. You will be doing TONS more damage then and you will learn survivability so will not need the stats for defense. You already have S/D on, so that has great defense and mobility.
(edited by Heimskarl Ashfiend.9582)
Swapped to my alt account because of flood control…
You aren’t being flamed, we are just pointing out the problems with your build.
Pet’s don’t scale off of your condi damage, your birds bleeds are based off of 350 condi damage. Your only access to bleeds is the 3 ticks from your dagger and the 1 bleed stack you might keep up from sharpened edges with such a low crit chance.
So you have to figure between your few bleed stacks and poison you are putting out maybe 500 condi damage per sec if you are lucky. That’s also assuming you don’t have another player that is running full condi overwriting your conditions. The direct damage you are missing out on to bring these few bleeds is way more than the few hundred damage that they give you.
Do you understand why your build has problems now?
I wasn’t self proclaiming anything. All I came here to do was share a build that I enjoy and all I do is get flamed for it. You don’t have to like it and I’m not trying to prove anything. Ok, the reason why I use the word self-proclaim is because you’re like “I make this build, you have to believe me it’s a good build, but I’m not going to tell you why!” (because you can’t find any either) When people point out there’s a flaw in logic of the post, you start saying subjective view of “No joke and nothing needs fixing. If you don’t believe me, your welcome to group up with me in game to see how it works.. when I can kill stuff faster than you and stay standing, then come back and tell me what you think.” And then people see you in action and outperform you easily…
Seriously, you need to start taking advice of other people from now on. No offense really.
Yep, back in the 1st couple of weeks of the game, I was running Rampager bleed crits with LB and traps… Yep. But, then I saw a mate in his Berserker gear and immediately salvaged all my condition gear and went zerk, never looked back, its just vastly better. PvP and WvW are a different story though where conditions work, but in PvE its not exactly efficient use of time.
Might as well change in HoT.
But the build has no place whatsoever. It doesn’t have a purpose, a strength nor it is unique in anything.
I’ll expect more “situational fights” in HoT according to the NPC system they went by in DryTop / SW. NPC’s vulnerable to conditions, ones vulnerable from behind, ones that require stacking and ones that need to be CCed.
So the higher organized runs might just end up needing Sinister bombing groups, some might need the celestials. Who knows, we might need tanks as well (we were introduced to Nomad’s in one of the season’s after all, weren’t we?)
I’’ve said it hundreds of times already and I’ll say it again.
If you want to play for fun – you can, I don’t know, play naked calling yourself the true beastmaster. If that’s what you enjoy – who cares, right?
But you can’t expect that knowledgeable people will approve the term “true beastmaster” when it’s clear that your performance will be terribad.
Those reacting to your post, ma’am, are the people who care for you as well as your reputation. If you were lost to them – they would tell you that your build indeed is cool and admirable. And it is sad that those kind of nice people we usually call friends, while I find it the other way round.
The person who yells at me trying to make me understand is the one who cares.
Hear hear! We just want all Rangers to be all they can be No offence intended.
if you still wish to use LB with a bleeds set up the real only way to make it effective is by increasing durations and buffing the pet so it replaces the lost damage .
the version of the build i posted above acts around kiting using signets and weapon swaps /heals to gain might for you and your pet actively through out the combat .
increased bleed stacks/ pet damage Might + the sigil of corruption will improve your damage 4 fold , with the cover of cripples and Vun from the Longbow those bleeds will not be going anywhere .
though the kicker here Is the F2 lighting drake combined with your Bleeds/CC from LB and poison/evades while it is possible to kit the drake to 25 might quickly with Rampage as one makes it a perm 25might for the Rampage duration the lighting breath will quickly burst down any group of targets infront of it , though it will only do this you must prepair the targets with Bleeds+vun> cover with cripples from LB barrage.
with your eagle it’ll grant you the swiftness you’ll need while signet of the hunt is on cool down so just swap to your bird before Activating Signet of the hunt for a Speed boost and a Bird damage boost while at range hitting with the LB you’ll generate might from crits and the signet boosting the bird again with your bleeds+ the bird bleeds increasing the stacks and damage intensity.
give it a try i promise you won;t be disappointed.
you’ll have
Pros@
high might damage pets
Burst bleeds
Cripples
Crits generate might for pet
Signets generate might for you and pet
weapon swaps to melee for might boost Sword AA with pre stacked condis quickly kills
Hard CCs pbs and spike trap make kiting easy.
good condi clears from EB and heal as one makes it easy to maintain pet hp while (roaming in Pvp or WvW)
Not sustained condi works in bursts and does its damage quickly over 4secs rather than the typical over 20-30secs.
still has decent personal hitting power to great hitting power when all buffed up due to two high damage sources.
Cons:
Pve might be a issue for your pet but there is always other people to give you some regen) but its easy to recover a pets hp with Heal as one just make sure to recall it or keep track of its condis and swap if you need a clean pet rather than heal it.
Stun breakers none relys on kiting / evades and signet of the hunt to keep distance
Signet of the wild , though it grants you Stability and 25% damage try not to use it alone / only use it when using the Drakes f2 with full stacks situational.
requires pet management do not forget about it.
with the 82hps a second you’ll need that to maintain health while kiting and remember the pet heals while running between targets so recall it as much as you like you’ll still be adding bleeds and stacking might.

She seems to be fairly serious about her build. Don’t be too mean to her.
Just give her advice would be good enough.

Your post is far more trollish. It is obviously not a troll build or post.
(edited by Heimskarl Ashfiend.9582)
Thanks Heimskarl…it was definitely not a troll build…I was actually kind of proud of it because it was working for me.
I try to stay away from meta builds so I still feel like I am unique…but I get it and I have spent the weekend swapping around gear et al, to try to accommodate some suggestions made here.
I enjoy my LB/SD combination, so I don’t really want to give that up, but I have swapped for the Sinister set and will probably work towards the Verata’s set…only cruddy thing is, is the amount of gold I already spent on two pieces of Occam’s and I’m not sure which infusions to get…but currently not equipping any Ascended right now.
I swapped for the Mad King runes, and switched out the two sigils on my LB for ones that effected the vulnerability cond on skill 2 – which in the first 2 seconds of a fight I can now stack 25.
Switched my tuning crystals and my food as well. I do deal way more damage now, but have lost 10K in HP…but when I’m PvE roaming, mobs die before they even come close to me, so that’s good.
S/D still keep me alive, unless it’s a Legendary.
If I get hit with bleeds, though, like in Breech, I’m dead within about 20 seconds….so I’m not sure what to do about that.

Try running healing spring instead of heal as one. That and SoR are plenty of condi removal for the majority of PvE. Plus you can leap through it for an extra little burst heal.
I’ll try switching that up when I get home after work…I’ll try to post a screen of where my numbers are now, too.
So, from the changes I made this weekend, this is where I currently sit:
Should I change out the pets for a Cave Spider and Lashtale Devourer for even more conditions? Or stick with the birds for the swiftness?
(edited by GussJr.1643)
That looks a lot better. You should definitely try out entangle instead of rampage as one, you’ll be able to proc your rune bonus way more often and really bump up those bleeds.
Devourers are terrible, stick to birds, cats, dogs, spiders and drakes.

I will definitely try that out.
Maybe Ice Drake and Cave Spider? For the chilling, poison etc?
Also, for the Verata’s (when I get it), should I use the healing, toughness, or vitality infusions? Since the slots are defensive…

Hey, don’t get rid of the Occam’s gear, there are some very nice 1v1 builds that use that and it is sure to be useful when HotM expansion goes live. You can trash PvE mobs with carrion style builds. You can melt them in seconds (especially in silverwastes):
Notice how Carrion vitality feeds into rune set, and might stacking through signets boosts both power and condition. Sigil’s of ice and weapon sets proc predator’s instinct, while pets are non-condition (so they don’t compete with you).
Try to get your stats to line up and synergize with the weapons and runes you choose.

Yeah, the gears are fine, but only the build does not synergize with the gears. Condition ranger is viable, but the OP’s build does not utilize its potential.
Looks very nice now tbh, good power and condi damage.
You know the Super Veggie Pizza and Quality Tuning Crystal are only 1.5s each and only a very minor amount less effective than the rare veggie pizza (at 20s) and toxic crystals (at 39s). Unless you have bulk cash (and even then) no real need to splash out for PvE, save the expensive ones for WVW.
Also, there is a couple of ascended Sinister accessories as rewards for the last LS isn’t there?
Unless you have already made the Sinister ascended armor pieces, just stick with the carrion ones you have already made, crit chance will be slightly lower, but not by much.
(edited by Heimskarl Ashfiend.9582)
I’m not short on gold, but I hear what your saying. As for the Sinister accessories, I have enough crests and gold to buy the three from the SW vendor…its finding the Verata’s recipe books that’s proving difficult.
The Sinister recipes for exotic are on the TP very cheap, just use those to start with imo, get a feel for it, then upgrade. Plate of Fire Flank Steak is another cheap one, 100 power and 70 condi damage for 4s and that will do more damage than the pizza, duration is not strictly needed except for WvW imo.
I had all the recipes for the Sinister exotics already, so that’s what I made this weekend. So just a step down from the Verata’s Ascended. I will check out the Fire Flank Steak too.
Someone smarter than me should do the math on this but I’m pretty sure pizza is better than flank steak. Extra ticks is better than a little extra damage upfront that falls off immediately.
LGN
The pizza has been working out for me, and I really don’t mind the price…but if ya’ll think there is something better, I don’t mind checking into it…
Someone smarter than me should do the math on this but I’m pretty sure pizza is better than flank steak. Extra ticks is better than a little extra damage upfront that falls off immediately.
When mobs die in a couple of seconds, there isn’t not much point adding more duration to the conditions so they tick for a few seconds after the mob is dead already, may as well add more power.
So this is the End Goal
Vitality infusions on the armor and condition damage infusions on the weapons…or would power be better for the weapons and healing on the armor…
(edited by GussJr.1643)
I would advice against making ascended armor, just stick to exotics. Since you mostly do open world PvE and don’t care for min/maxing/meta you are most definitely not going to notice the upgrade from exotic to ascended. The weapons fair enough, but not the armor. Rather spend those resources on fluff and shinies.

Pizza is better for only 1 extra second Trash mobs will Die regardless if you have food or not , vs those Creatures in a PvE roaming situation duration is better in larger Zerg scaled events Food and Stones are not needed for it , onther reason why i don;t even bother with food , only Maintance stones and then i use the food for boosting magic find.
though yes Pizza is better than 70+ condi damage , in keen edges case its 1 extra tick 405 over 4secs(with pizza) rather than 335 (3secs with food) your doing 17.5 more damage per second per stack.
17.5 x (average bleeds from his build 8-12 maybe 14 depending on crits and pet) im going to use the average amount of bleeds this being 10.
17.5 × 10 = 175 damage per second based on 10 stacks (food duration food used)
according to the Condi damage Calculator 70+ condi damage only gives your bleeds 4 more damage per second.
based on 1.230k condi damage 104 per bleed.
1.300k condi damage = 108 per bleed
if you could add the 70+ condi damage and the duration of 40% will look like this
108×4(secs)= 432 per stack per 4 secs (this is with 40% duration food and a extra 70 condi damage)
so if you could quickly stack up 10bleeds you’ll do 4.320k damage over 4secs which obvously scales as its a maintained 10secs it will always do 4.320k damage every 4secs .
or 1.08k damage per second (then add your typical average direct damage from pet and you)
if you take away the 70+ condi damage you’ll only loose 16 damage per stack over the 4secs.
(edited by Zenos Osgorma.2936)
If you want to make ascended armor, make ascended armor. I hate having exotics because its not BiS.
If I could make one suggestion, it would be to put Air/Fire sigils on your LB, since you have over 2k power now, they will do excellent damage with 50% crit chance. A LOT more damage added than vulnerability.
Also, why not get the WvW infusions? Cheap and +5, not +4.
(edited by Heimskarl Ashfiend.9582)
Oh, I didn’t even think of those for my LB, i’ll check them out. And definitely will go check out the www infusions
I would switch Spider for Drakehound or another canine.
The poison from the spider will overwrite your own, more powerful poison, so you will be losing damage there.
You don’t want your pets to overwrite any conditions you apply yourself. So you should aim for pets that apply conditions that you can’t, or use non-condition applying pets.
Space Marine Z [GLTY]
The River drake is also quite good for PvE because of the F2 which is nice with RaO because it is 10 hits, giving you 10 might.
If I can make a suggestion, I wouldn’t say “no” to making an ascended… But I’d suggest waiting a bit till we learn more about the expansion.
A nice bunch of things may change and you might end up regretting your stat choice since the Ascended stuff is expansive. But if you don’t mind – ascended stuff definitely brings the nerd joy into our worlds.
So if that’s the case, do not hesitate.

I did not realize they could overwrite my own, I always assumed they stacked. Good to know.
@ Tragic, even though I really want to make the ascended, between finding the recipe drops and HoT coming out, waiting might be what i am forced to do.
My crit hits are definitely higher now…

This might or might not be true. I know that we had this bug going on for quite some time… But when I used my poison-hitting pets in PvP in combination with Poison Master – my (harder hitting) posion was always given top priority, regardless of who applied the poison as 1st.
I haven’t tested it outside of that particular environment (I didn’t need it), but I suggest you trying it out before swapping your favorite pets. You might as well stick to your current choices.
