Warhorn 4 and line of sight
YET! Many characters can “shoot” or whatever they are doing over the wall in the Forest of Niflhel when I am standing on the landings above the keep and kill me without being near me.
Yeah right anet.
I’d wager the skill, at its core, is the exact same as longbow’s #2, only with different duration, damage, and animation. Hence why it can be obstructed.
It’s lazy programming, basically.

Reusing code for multiple scenarios if often a function of efficiency, not laziness. If you do that, however, you have to be sure there are no unforeseen issues and adjust accordingly.

I believe that Warhorn #4 should be a set it and forget it skill with no LoS issues. Once the pets are On Target, then they should stay On Target as long as the original LoS was good. That includes running through those blue walls at keeps. But that’s my 2c.

Being efficient and being lazy are sometimes the same thing.
It should ignore LoS, I agree. It makes no sense that it doesn’t considering the nature of the attack, and its not like its insanely powerful to the point where that sort of thing would be broken.
All they’d really need to do in order to let it ignore LoS is make it a custom debuff that damages over time. Guardian’s Binding Blades attack is the exact same thing. Enemies hit by the initial attack are given a special debuff which periodically inflicts damage. Its not a standard debuff like Poison or anything, so its not boosted by CD, or duration, or anything, it just inflicts exactly the damage its meant to, and does so regardless of LoS.
Yes I’ve had this happen a lot, mainly in PvP. It’s quite amusing and frustrating.
The thing is if you are running power/precision/crit damage then you could just hit them with 4 and hide while they take like 4k damage. Meanwhile, you are safe behind a wall.
Am I good?… I’m good.
dont see how someone came up with the idea that they used the same code for those skills, longbow #2 is a channeled attack that shoots projectiles, each one calculated individually and each one seperately can miss/be dodged/get reflected, and the channeling can be stopped by a enemy cc or if you dodge/cancel it yourself.
warhorn #4 is a single cast that leaves a sort of debuff on the enemy, it is not channeled and therefore cant be interrupted and they arent projectiles that can be reflected.
these are two completely separated mechanics and i say they just “nerfed” the skill with the LoS because of exactly these reasons, if this is necessary or not is debatable. They just have to do the same thing with mesmer GS autoattack …
i doubt they nerfed it to this state, because it just doesn’t seem that powerful. The damage is medicore, and while it can’t be reflected like a projectile or removed like a condition or interrupted it can still be dodged (two dodges = practically 0 damage) and you can still use invulnerability. Most importantly, as others have stated, the guardian has a similar skill that functions the same way but requires no maintained LoS, and nobody has found it to be particularly OP as far as i know.
As for speccing for power and crit so you can do 4k dmg then hide behind a wall in WvW, many classes can already do one-shot attacks that do that much damage or more, where there’s no opportunity to evade most of the damage etc….
