Hello all,

I just recently started a Ranger and am going for with a 0/0/30/10/30 build with a focus on condition damage. I usually run SB + Axe. My question is which offhand is best for this type of play style in terms of dps. Is the 15s of fury and might for you and your pet better than the extra bleed and poison you get on dagger? Is it more of a wash?

I’d appreciate any help with this.

Agreed. If you’re talking PvE and you’re running conditions use a torch. If you’re making a power build (which wouldn’t really utilize a SB) then horn is best.

Dagger is more useful in PvP. Incredibly useful in fact, especially when paired with 1h sword.

yup torch for optimal condi damage,

sword+ dagger + shortbow = best for evasive trap style (lay down traps, 4 times evade, rinse and repeat)

if you’re talking about general/roaming pve, torch is pretty good for AoE

if you’re talking about dungeons, Warhorn is a must have. You will do less damage, but team-wide fury+might+swift will more than make up for it.

Really its one of the best buffs in the game, and something i’d expect ANY ranger i group to have, regardless of their build (unless your team is stacked with wars with 100% fury uptime already ).

all are valid options in pvp, depends on your playstyle.

I can’t see playing the game without the speed buff of the horn. Pve or PvP or w3. Suppose you could play with the trait that grants speed, but it still isn’t as fast as the horn. That horn has gotten me out of sticky situations in both pve and pvp, especially with a pet, who’s AI takes it all over the place to gather mobs you’re not intending to attack. You look up and instead of having 2 in front of you, there is now 5.

I would recomend the warhorn if you are doing wvw, the speed buff is great. I have not done much with the dagger so could be absolutely wrong although I do like the speed buff alot.
