Was Liadri hard(er)(/impossible) for Rangers?
Actually many said the exact opposite, ranger being among the easiest class to beat Liadri.
What people complain is that our pet is useless there, both pets will die no matter or what, but the same ones that complain doesn’t see the skills we bring.
You can use axe #4 to pull the shadows into the light and grab the orb faster/easier, both bows are great against Liadri phase 2, sword can destroy the warp things easy and offer extra dodges for the huge AoE, SB #3 and LB #4 can be used to make distance from Liadri at phase 2, or you can cond bomb with traps and pray for the best
(and the other 8 elite specs maxed too)
I guess the vocal minority were those who weren’t succeeding at it. When I was thinking about it I couldn’t see any reason rangers would struggle (outside of useless pet AI).
@OP, are you sure you aren’t thinking of the whole Deadeye and farming issues? All classes were able to farm him except Rangers(efficiently). Lots of threads were popping up about that. Here is a link to my post which includes information regarding Deadeye farming for Ranger: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/professions/ranger/Gauntlet-farming/2635615
As for Liadri, it was hardly a challenge. But, there was an achievement that required not getting hit by her AOE’s, and the Rangers pet made it near impossible even on passive.

Rangers were the hardest prof to fight liadri on, and it’s purely because we have to complete it at a 40% damage loss, however if you’re a zerker ranger using a SB, then you should have little to no issue taking her out.
If you’re not in zerker gear you ask? Whelp, good luck…. you’ll need it.

Liadri was kind of difficult because ranged weapons didn’t work on something you had to destroy in the battle, so you had to use melee for at least part of the fight, pets died instantly, and you had to spend more time fighting the camera than you did the boss itself..
Deadeye was freaking easy with a Ranger though. I would use a Rabid build and pull him with Axe #4 to start the fight, use Rampage as One, then use Axe #5, He would port behind me, and I would just keep hitting him, stacking on the bleeds through critical hits, and reflecting any attack he tried to hit me with. Even after he ported away he died pretty quickly because he still had stacks of bleeds on.
Made at least 200 gold in about 3 days before I got bored and went to something else. I did hear of some people playing for a week straight and made 1000’s of gold, (which was mostly warriors playing on Anet’s favorite easy mode class.)
Unless Anet randomizes all the enemy actions instead of having a set routine (like they did when they updated Deadeye), any new boss (if they add new bosses) they add should be as easy as the old ones. You have to use the right skill rotation. After that, it should be easy.
I just shortbow condi spammed her to death. 40% food etc.
It wasn’t hard to deal with Lidari as a ranger, well that depends on the build cause glass cannon with no sustain and no condition removal = dead. The hard thing to deal with is Lidari’s rotation (that goes for any profession) and how fast you can put her down before time ends.

Just beat Liadri with:
-Shortbow only
-Full zerker
-30/30/0/10/0 Signets (Hunt, Stone, Wild)
Took me a while, but its doable \o/ wooohooo!
Edit: I’ll have to agree with Durzulla on this one. SB + Zerker.

2/6/6/0/0 full rabid trapper with sigil of earth on SB, take the food for dodging. Easy. Same goes for necro, you just kite her around. Make sure u take down the rifts.
I have forgot the mecanics of her… could someone plz explain them to me. I have encountered her now for the first time since I had a hard time beating the norn/dog…
How to fight: Liadri has clones. Draw them into the swirly circles and they become crystals. Pick up crystals and throw it at Liadri. Repeat 3 times then start dpsing.
Watch out for: Dodge aoe circles, don’t touch Liadri clones, kill orbs that will spawn and pull you. When red circles appear, wait for ~2.5s then dodge. Crystals despawn if you don’t pick them up or don’t use them for too long.
My sugggestion (optional and don’t have to follow):
Take full zerker gear – toughness, vitality, healing power is a waste and will not help you in this fight.
Take shortbow – easy to destroy orbs with and easy for dps phase. When traited, you can easily abuse #3 skill to dodge. If you find you need more dodges, take sword dagger, but shortbow should be enough.
Take wolf – and another pet. Let the other pet die first, and only swap to wolf with immediate fear when you reach dps phase.
Liadri should be theoretically easier for rangers just coz we have soooooo many dodges. That being said, I found the fight a quite difficult, but thats probably coz I suck. Though, I think I make up for it through theorycrafting xD
Liadri I found to be a little challenging. I ended up using SB and GS for her with celestial Armor and weapons, traveller’s runes, and full zerker trinkets. Seemed to be the right mix of damage and sustainability.
Use GS exclusively to block her ranged attack as you run around in phase 1. You can throw sword at orb or just swipe at it when close.
In phase 2, switch to SB and riddle her as you walk backwards in a circle, close to the center. I found piercing arrows and traited signets to help a lot. Pop stone signet if you mess up it will save you from clones or her 1 shot AoE. Swap dead pet from phase 1 out if you see her separated from her spawns. I used Lynx for phase 2. You don’t need full zerker for this (or any) fight. Use RaO and SoW for stability in phase 2.

Full zerker
Axe/warhorn – Greatsword
First phase use Gs, and try to keep your pets alive. Second phase switch to axe/wh and stack might with rampage as one and devourer.

dont rly care about the pets you can let the first one die and swap to the second for the f2 if you need, but just pull the illus in first phase with axe 4
reflect the autohits and second phase pop up rampage as one, swap to shortbow, throw your traps and gg
I used a rabid trapper to beat everything but Liadri on my first try. Liadri took a few more but I got her eventually with relative ease. It did annoy me though that our pet gets 1 shot in just about every fight. Watching some of the guardians and mesmers run through it at the same time I was happy to be a ranger

Wicked! I managed to beat her with condi-regen build, condition-survival build, beast master build, mid glass using shortbow. I don’t have zerker gear so it must have been fun to work with that

Congratz! I haven’t tried other builds and don’t think I will xD. Which builds did you think was easiest and hardest? BM build sounds kinda odd since pets usually die instantly :O

BM was one hell of a challenge, you need to remember where the blasts of black death will come from and 1. keep yourself alive, 2. keep your pet alive/attacking/retreating on time. You’re always shooting arrows with shortbow just to help whenever lidari decides to stand where the black diarrhea is coming from, cause you want your pet not to get bathed in it and die on you. For me personally, a hybrid build works best. Strong condition removal options, 1 strong source of damage and 1 supporting source of damage (either condi or power up to you). I like conditions more personally to kill Lidari.

Sounds like you can down Liadri consistently :O Jelly lol
Yea, I tried keeping my pets alive, but sometimes they just kind of waddle and refuse to get out of aoe circles. Speaking of aoe circles, I can’t see them sometimes coz the camera angle occasionally becomes weird and I can’t compare the color to the floor color (colorblind ).
I pulled it off wearing knight’s armor, full zerker accessories, and used a short bow. Pet died, but I did it myself.
I asked for help on what to do and this video was very helpful:
