Now that Allie Murdock, the only person who had an in depth understanding of what was said in the Ranger CDI is leaving. Sure, she may have passed on ideas to the devs but they didn’t get half as involved as she did. Ah well, I have no problems sticking with my condi bunker for at least the next year.
Since she wasn’t a balance dev she really was just a PR person… and how much can they get done? Uh, not much. She was a filter and the only filters I like are used in making coffee.

As nice as she seems, her knowledge of Rangers was next to nil. She was a PR gatekeeper for that thread. That’s it.

She completely mishandled the Ranger thread in the first place. How much actual value the whole process served will take months or even a year to figure out. I’m not expecting much considering the overwhelming majority of time spent discussing anything in that thread was spent on ways to trivialize/remove the pet as opposed to focusing on actual areas that needed improvement.
Yeah, as much as I liked the lass, I think she did a pretty shotty job on the Ranger CDI.
And she is most certainly not the only ranger dev at Arenanet, nor the only one that actually understands the issue.
Just because you don’t see them on the forums doesn’t mean they don’t exist.
I believe she did a good job but could have done better though.
But i don’t blame her for it, brcause she is powerless beyond her job.
Only if she was in charge of the Balance team, than and only than, we would see more interaction and contribution from her.
I just wish the balance team leader would interact with us and contribute his/her ideas, thoughts and knowledge of were our class stands and what could be done to improve it.
Well, the results speak volumes. We got literally nothing to improve the ranger’s desirability in WvW or GvG. The Ranger is(and will remain) shunned in WvW and GvG. I can’t be part of my guilds GvG because I play a ranger. I can do WvW with them because I’m very good with my ranger and use my healing spring in the middle of the battle on the commander when called for.
Anything the ranger can do there’s a class that can do it better and more often. Elemetalists have loads of AOEs, can heal at a distance and their cool downs are fast. Even with the pet heal AOE upcoming, your pet will be dead in seconds so it won’t matter.
Improvements should have included massive damage boosts on all arrow attacks, faster Barrage cool down, and maybe adding some way to have arrows explode on contact for AOE.(other than a crit sigil.)
I’ve posted many ideas in other ranger improvement threads, but ANeT will continue to just let the ranger die a slow death. I’ll continue to await the day when ANeT does an all ranger update and leaves the other classes whining because the ranger suddenly became a feared class.
