somebody said to fight with fire using fire – so fight trapper bunker using similar method as him – place on him AoE and try to evade as much as You can his AoE’s (traps)

Condition removal at the right time and that trapper dude is gone.

This but you need to make sure you apply constant damage to them as trap rangers can continuously apply many different conditions to you at once while if built right, be heavily evasive. If you find yourself losing, check to see if they have signet of the hunt and if they don’t fleeing should be relatively easy unless they are using a greatsword. If they are using a greatsword, their condition damage is fairly heavily kitten though.

that is about trap bunker – never heard about trap bunker using SoH not gs!

as I said – try evade/block as much as possible of their dmg output and spam on them all Your aoe’s
also make good Use from Your condi removal.
btw. I as Beastmaster never yet met any tap bunker that would be able to take me down alone – that was some guys that have sword+dagger weapon and tried to use some traps on me….
sorry, but all my passive regens + those activated in some cases where generating higher health regeneration that their condi damage. if they had burning just slightly lesser – and yet maybe I met only noobs because They were dying pretty quickly.
actually when I face a Ranger I can be nearly sure that will be somekind easy fight.
yet waiting for a ranger enemy that would be difficult to defeat finally!

Any ranged build heavy on snares should hurt trap Ranger. Getting within trap range is bad if they manage to snare you inside traps.

If 5 guys couldn’t catch a ranger then they were really, really bad players. The ranger is probably the easiest class to catch and pin down by far.

How so, just asking? I run GS+Bow and speed signet…How exactly can you pin me down if I want to run?

I find people will try and close the gap and fight in melee against people using ranged weapons. Most trappers use shortbow so people will try and get up in your face, which is what you want for landing your traps.

Its like reverse psychology haha

@Substance E I had a friend that was soloing 5 players(sPvP) with some kind of spirit bunker – so be catious with that they are so easy to take down (personnally as for now I didn’t soloed 5 enemy full 80’s with my beastmaster bunker – 1v1 I rarely loose, 1v2 – it can be won, 1v3 last time i tried I have bad luck to have fight with ele bunker, guardian something and thief zerker…
1v4 never tried it.
1v5 – when I see 5 enemies while fighting on wvw and I’m alone i start to searching some camp or another source of NPC veterans
unless they are “green arrows” with no full 80 – in that case that is masacre

Yeah, just yesterday I was playing my longbow ranger in wvw. Killed an entire Zerg while defending Hills no problem, felt like 1 v 10000.

What conditions are the applying outside traps? Bleeds needs flanking, and if you dodge the traps they have no damage.

Trap rangers mostly perform well against melee heavy builds, while solid ranged builds outmuscle them and with a pitiful 600 range throw trap you won’t be damaging anyone who wants to kite you at 900+ range.

A good mesmer or engineer will make quick work out of you.

Flanking = 270* You don’t have to be behind, it’s enough if target is running around you and shooting at you.

lol if im fighting one with my melee Condi-Gen313 Ranger i try to do it with a little flair! If they are on the other side of the trap i run up to the edge of the trap and use S#3 and the animation takes you along the outside of the trap and stabs em in the face. then i entangle and use sword 2 to backflip over their trap. I then switch to axe/Torch and light em up…

once they see how you danced around their trap , panic sets in …then its just a matter of time hehe.

Axe torch can use 3 abilities to put conditions on you. Just not traps.
With the trap and offhand cooldown reduction here are mines:
Splitblade 6sec
throw torch 12sec
bonfire 20 sec
flame trap 12 sec
spike trap 20 sec
viper’s nest 16 sec
poison volley 9 sec (shortbow)
crippling shot 12 sec (shortbow)
Entangle (ok 150 sec here ^^)

As you can see, it’s really easy to be constantly applying conditions. You can also add in the bleeds that come from critical hits.

Trap rangers are not that good… An engy with nade kit is way better trap rangers have to focus 30 points in a tree that gives no condition damage and has nothing to do with traps.. Also you have to give up 3 utility slots for the traps as where an engy has 5 different nades in one utility slot that can be spammed a lot more and deal massive damage and putting 30 points in that engy tree gives condition duration and power both useful to nades unlike the ranger skirmish tree

that we have built our rangers differently was sure for me from the begginig – I’m always making builds in my way
but if You want disscuss differences between our ranger’s maybe PW would be better option

There is also the option of engaging the trapper from range or simply going around the traps (granted I know this isn’t always possible). When I see a trap ranger in sPVP I just remain at a distance and take him down from range.

Too much people seem to rely on the combat log.
Of course traps are good, they do great damage, you should try them.
But don’t try them in a power/crit gear set. You need high condition damage.
Anyway, the range isn’t that great on traps so keeping your distance is the best way to avoid damage. You can still get owned if you don’t take care of where the traps are put and the ranger simulates an escape. Also, you’ll most likely be crippled most of the time since you won’t be able to remove all the conditions, keep it in mind.
