What do you do best ranger?
>What stands out for Ranger?
Pets. They have their own issues, but its something, I guess.
We’re more of a middle line of being capable of doing lots of things, but not being amazing at any one particular aspect of gameplay. The next thing that comes to mind is traiting for 1500 range on a Longbow for the longest attack range ever, but there’s not many situations where one would do that now.
Pets increase survivability a great deal. If the mob is beating on the pet, it ain’t beating on you. And yes, I hear a lot of noise about how such-and-such class is better at something else. But, at the end of the day, my ranger/druid tends to be the last man standing.
So what is ranger best at? Surviving . . . if you know what you’re doing.

That’s very true, quite often the last man standing, as all the others lay dead watching you kite around, quite funny sometimes, all these “tough” warriors.
Burst heal… lol jk :/

There’s a strange disconnect between being a group’s Burst Healer when things are beginning to go south and being “the last one standing” after the fact.

Lol @ some of these responses.
Summary, camp longbow/staff and pewpew with bear pet tanking. Then marvel at how you outlived everyone else with your superior skills.
But yeah truely, when it comes to attacking from relative safety, lb ranger is king.
As always, the other classes may do more amazing damage, but they ain’t doing any amazing damage when they’re dead.
Ranger tends toward ranged damage . . . it’s kind of in the name. And the smarter ones also tend toward letting the pet tank, bear or otherwise, since the pet often takes a beating better than the class itself.
I never understood why this is a point to be mocked, but I’m okay with that. And so are the people I rez who wanted to marvel me with their superior skills.
Sadly, that tends to turn ugly in PvP when I use my less than superior skills on them. That scenario also gives a hint as to why those players scream nerf against rangers and druids … and ANet listens.
But that’s another topic.

yeah we survive , survive and survive again , i even mock my friends coz they all soloing their Hot story line quests while i finished the whole thing solo
it tends to get boring thou coz we survive but we dont have their fun to be honest
Rangers are pretty good group buffers :< for condis: 15% condition dmg with a proper rotatiton + sun spirit, for power builds: 15% dmg with a proper rotation + frost spirit (helping to keep up scholar buff also somehow)
Not to mention the spotter, that allows ppl to run bufffood with ferocity buffs instead of precision ones, and classes like eles can replace there fury signet with other actually damaging skills
In theory ranger actually can buff group more than ps warrior (considering your group has 25 might anyways (which isnt the case in every situation sadly)), but, while wars buffs are constant, ranger buffs will run out sometimes and you need some time to stack em up :( #frostandsunspiritendlesspls
