So one of the biggest complaints of 1h sword on ranger is the root. What if it had an evade during Pounce? (The root-leap.)

Might be bad in pvp, but surely in pve it is a great bandaid fix?

I think that might be pretty OP. You’d have a weapon that gave you 3 evasions (4 if paired with dagger), one of which is spammable and part of an auto-attack chain that is 2 gap closers, a cripple, and a pet might.

Why stop at pounce? I think the kick clearly implies ninja-esque skills it would make sense if that was an evade too.

I also think that would be overpowered. Heck, I already do use it as a pseudo-evade in that it can take you out of melee range.

If we are going to go down that path though, I think Manekk has the right idea. If we are going to have an evade on 60% of our mainhand skills, why not make it 80%? And really, at that point, why not just go for the gold and have every skill evade?

If the pounce is giving you trouble in PvE, you’re just bad. You know when it’s going to happen, and most mob abilities are telegraphed so you should pay attention to what you’re doing in pve.

1 handed sword is just great as it is, my entire build is based around it, players on one of our enemy servers named me the dodgy ranger I’ve been told, if I had anymore evades I’d be insane, I already get hate tells from thieves telling me I’m exploiting in sPVP.

I do that with endurance management, wisely knowing when to evade and when to not bother, and then supplementing my high endurance gain with sword dodges, it’d just be broken and OP if I could dodge even more just by pressing 1.

Dropping the root would destroy the sword for those of us that have managed to get the point of the weapon. If you want a cripple sword attack without the root, roll a sword thief, it’s not meant not be like other sword attacks.

Thief sword gives up the leaps in exchange for applying both weakness on top of the cripple. It’s a very sexy weapon.

Each weapon has their place. Both are great for making a good player hard to escape from as well as difficult to pin down.
