Q:
What is your opinions on axe ?

The nerf to the third bounce was uncalled for. They should have buff Splitaxe and Winter’s Bite too.
Path of Scar need to be bigger, imo.
I find Axes weird, but I guess they do the job.
I use GS/Axes on my Ranger and I preferred the 3rd bounce over the extra damage but that’s just me… I want Axe main hand to become a power weapon because I don’t like the condis on #2 and #3 but I guess that’s not gonna happen…
axe off hand is pretty good. I wish path of scars had a slightly larger radius. (its super easy to miss if you have to lead your target even slightly and he flinches in one direction for a second). But all in all its good.
I don’t find myself using axe Main* hand pretty much ever. Though if it did a bit more power damage I probably would. Its status as a hybrid weapon makes me really leery of it in both power and condition builds.

First of all, the trait is crap and the aoe Winter’s Bite thing should just be baseline. Aftercast on the mainhand axe is annoying, and so is the path of scar radius against other players. The bounce nerf they did on the autoattack to “compensate” for the damage buff was uncalled for.
I never really liked the mainhand axe. Throwing axes like that as an autoattack just looks awkward. Nitpicking on that last one, but still.
It’s okay (to me). Split Blade and Winter’s Bite could use the shortbow treatment so the direct damages are not equal to less than the auto-attack.
I really wish they implemented a bleed on Ricochet and have it function like the DH Longbow auto-attack where it applies the bleed if the 2nd bounce hits.
Path of Scars could also use a radius increase as 90-radius is far too small. Other than that, it could be better with some minor tweaks.

Offhand is ok but mainhand axe should be a melee weapon with a proper cleave abilities. This version is just another crappy mid range weapon, which ranger already had (shortbow) in my opinion. The curent single target bad bouncing style is unnecessary.
It can work kinda OK in PvP if you run a condi build (sage amulet) and focus on landing AoE winters bite every 8s. AoE 4s chill is rather unique.
The direct damage components of the weapon are still very low and the after-cast make you feel like you are in a pool of molasses.

I take a lot of people out with it on WvW. I say MH is pretty solid (bounce nerf was terrible though). OH is…not great.
Main hand.
Agree that the extra bounce was great as I use it in Zerg fights where tagging is more important to get the loot.
Goes well with traps and a more condi build type, again good for tagging mobs.
