Hey everyone,
So I posted a thread almost 2 wks ago in the pvp forum asking for people to pick my class for me to stream when I return here in a couple days. It will be hotjoin/soloQ/teamQ only, so racial skills won’t matter here. Overwhelmingly (not surprised though) ranger dominated the vote. So here I am looking at my options for which class looks the best – that is my only requirement. Being a guardian/ele main I know nothing of medium armor skins and race combinations to go with or avoid. Looking for some insight or screenshots to sway me. I’ll be taking this ranger to the top of the pvp boards (former rank 3 team, rank 8 solo) so it has to be snazzy and eye catching haha. My one stipulation is it CAN’T BE ASURA! If I want to play in the weeklies with it, asura is banned from that setting. Show me what you’ve got!

Charr obviously. Have you seen T3 medium? The only leather chestpiece which isn’t a trenchcoat and awesome Shooulders&gloves?

I rolled a charr ranger for hte asthetics and story mostly. However the feeling of “Beast with Beast” is REALLY strong when your fighting it offers what i find to be a unique feeling in this game. when you watch your maul hit with your drake ripping a chunk out of his side.

Looks great with kyrtan medium set too

Does the Charr tail clip through the t3? That’s my concern with going charr…

Anything but Human. I’m more sick of looking at Humans than I am of Asura.

I have a Sylvari ranger that I like. It’s a little different.
Norn are going to get you killed when you play better people. Actually it might get you killed in Solo Q because the power thieves looking for big numbers for their youtube compilation videos tend to go for the bigger opponents first.
Charr are cool too.

Imo Sylvari>Charr>not playing the game>Norn>>>>Human

I have 2 rangers atm and ranger is my pvp main. Mine are human and asura. Its a shame they have that req for asura as they have some of the best ( wackiest ) animations ( looking at you sword/dagger/gs). As with any armor class human tends to have some of the best looking armor but the problem is that everyone in their right mind plays a human ( so wont stand out much). I would recommend norn actually. It fits from a lore perspective… And they have some nice looking cultural armor as well. As a norn you can chose some body art/ tatts to spice up the look too.

A big norn ranger with the T1 cultural mask so you have a weird dog face that makes you stand out.

sylvari T3 is pretty cool. Whispers is also good as it TA armor.

A good choice is Asura for the technobabble trolling in WvW.

Sylvari all the way. They glow at night so imo they would be the nicest to watch on twitch.

I think that probably each race will have at least one cool armor combination…take a look at the show your ranger thread here, or simply try the various combinations in game by talking to the bank npc

norn, is there even competition?

If you want to have visible, fair animations, roar from time to time and at least one of below:

-a beard
-like rock music
-balls
-like to challange yourself

Then you will want a Charr. Trust me. Even Karl uses Charr for a Ranger

Sylvari Ranger is probably the most overrated and stereotypical next to human, tbh.

Think I’m going with sylvari. I don’t like charr tail clipping my armor haha. Human is too mainstream (and my mains are human ele/guard) so I’ll switch it up from that.

You made the right decision.

A shame. Would take a look, but I yawn at sylvari rangers. Good luck
