Guild Wars 2

I am looking at creating a ranger and I was wondering what race would provide me with the best racial utilities/elites for the ranger.

sylvari as well, you get what is basically an extra entangle

If ur into Fashion Wars 2 then factor in the different racial t3 armor sets, or even the lore behind the race compared to the ranger.
I went with Sylvari since i felt the skills (like entangle) sort of fits the nature theme of the race, though most of all due to its t3 armor:

Asura, Sylvari and Norn have some nice racial skills, imo none are better than ranger skills, it depends of your play style.
As a norn you can: (with opening strike) pop SotH → pop SotW → Bear Form → Charge = fun times

Aesthetically I think Sylvari take the cake here.

Asura have Technobabble, and on a Moment of Clarity build that’s probably the best trait/racial synergy in the game.

Well, Asuran Mesmer have the same thing, albeit +25% duration rather than 100%, but they also get stun…. Confounding Suggestions.

Like the others said, Asura. But that will only be useful in one game mode.
But Charr have Battle Roar which is pretty much “For Great Justice” lite. Which is nice.
And Norn racial elites have some decent utility like stealth unless they nerfed them.

Honestly besides Asura in WwW you’ll probably prefer your class skills and elites. Better to roll a race you just like looking at. And that should be Charr.
If it isn’t Charr, well, you’re wrong.

Thematically, I went with Human with the “Common Folk” backstory. Also, I think that armor sets just generally look better on Human models—in my humble opinion—which gives me more flexibility in making my dude look nifty and such.

I never really thought of using racials on my Ranger, since I have a lot of strong utilities as it is. I’ve heard Hounds of Balthazar is solid, though.

If I rerolled I would pick Asura. If you like power ranger, technobabble is just too good.
