What ranger NEEDS
Great Idea. Already been mentioned.
Sea of Sorrows
Pets are a huge problem right now, but I think the main problem is in traits :P. Nothing works well enough if it’s not max traited. Sorry, this all has been mentioned so many times..
Gotta stay patient and wait for the update. Would be nice though if they gave us some kind of info about the date of the ranger update. Or if anyone else knows, post here please ^^.
Heres what I am expecting (minimum)-
- Sigils Improved (i.e. Sigil of the Hunt increases speed by 20%, ext.)
- Spirits Reworked (I never use these things)
- Many weapon skills buffed and reworked to not all be utility skills. (More weapons made viable for PvE/PvP
Here’s what I am hoping to see
- A viable way to minimize the importance of pets in PvP as a huge source of damage. (i.e. Trait: Damage is increased by 30% when both pets are dead.) It doesn’t even have to be that huge, just enough so that enemies in PvP can’t just take out our pet and expect to half our damage.
- Short Bow does 1/2 bleed duration when not attacking from behind. (My Engineer bleeds in an AoE around the target from and direction. Is this too much to ask for? Probably.
Welswift you mean Signet right ?
Yeah a viable source of bleed on ShortBow would be much appreciated, but I guess we’re asking for too much.
But giving us access to all of pet skills is a huge boost imho, and would make us more of a Ranger than Warriors.
Just need speed and damage on a par with that other scout class
What rangers REALLY need is for Anet to allocate MORE staff to handle class fixing/balancing issues!!! seriously 2 ppl is a joke…

The amount of changes that are made in each patch to various other classes would indicate to me that it probably isn’t as much a lack of time that they are restricted by, but rather a lack of prioritization. Apparently ANet has decided that ranger isn’t worth allocating the resources to fix, so they simply are going to ignore the issues.
I’ve suggested they give the Ranger a new Elite skill. In team fights and cqc melee zerg fests your best option is to either support your team with healing spring and try and tank some damage or go full glass cannon and hope you can burst someone down b4 they get you. I think if they gave the Ranger the Norn Elite Skill to shapeshift it would add some viability to the class. The skill would grant a large hp pool (40k)like any other shapeshifting skills and enlarge your pet(s). Furthermore, it would be on a low c/d like 60-90 seconds. Thus, throwing the Ranger into the bunker category since burst can’t compete with other classes.
If you reduced the range of longbows, made melee weapons do fewer evades, I am sure that the devs would give you some love.

Spoken like a Mesmer sir!
Pets use their skills in a pretty reliable fashion as is. Last thing I need is to rework all my key bindings to add f5-7 to an already tapped dry key board. I don’t want to buy a special mouse just to play my class.
Just because you don’t wanna change your keybinds doesnt mean we, Rangers shouldn’t get a slight buff for once.. instead of getting nerfed like with every patch out
Great Idea. Already been mentioned.
every idea pretty much has been mentioned at least a dozen times here…
I don’t know whats more sad, swarms of unanswered complaints about a class or the quite that will come when people finally stop caring…
I’d like for the damage split to be shifted to something like 80% ranger and 20% pet. It’s really sad when my polar bear hits harder than my axe even though I’ve got 3k+ attack and nothing invested in the bear.
Next, I’d like an option to set my pet to automatically attack what I’m attacking and return if I break target. That would get rid of a lot of the micromanagement for me.
Finally, I’d like something similar to the engineer’s kits. Basically, they’d be utility skills on your bar that would change out your F1-F4 skills when used. You could roll the traps into one kit, and add weapon preparations from GW1 to make another. Pets would be the default of course (no utility slot used). Then we’d have something to fall back on in areas where pets don’t perform well.
I think the first two are fairly easy to do and would help things a lot. The last one is a longshot but it would be really cool in my opinion. It’d also be nice if your heal skill would raise your pet like comfort animal did in the first game.
