Q:
What skills and pet should a CD ranger(WvW)
A:
Malicious Training (T1 Marks) increases your pets condition duration, and Expertise Training (T1 WS) increases your pets condition damage. Both are decent to have.
The stun-break you are referring to is Lightning Reflexes.
Thanks for your reply. But what pet I should use? I won’t prefer that make pet do condition for me but I rather want them to do some direct damage, protection or control enemy for me.
Hmm, well I use the Owl/Winter Wolf combo myself in W3. They have long chills (@4secs each) which work well vs Ele’s and Thieves. The owl has a good swiftness aoe for party support, and the wolf has a kd which comes in very handy.
The spider mentioned is a great idea, immobilize is king when it comes to CC’s as far as I’m concerned. Also, I hear the Drakes can be brutal if they land their tail-swipe.

Wolf is a must for any ranger. It deals nice consistent damage with a leap, knockdown, cripple, and fear giving it excellent control. It is the most versatile pet we have and can be beneficial for any build. Your second pet can be what you choose, be it a dps pet (feline or bird) or more control (canine). Obviously, this is assuming you are talking strictly pvp (wvw). Just don’t make the biggest mistake rangers can make and bring a bear. They deal almost no damage but are decent tanks. The issue with that is in how gw2 pvp is played, mass aoe. Nobody will give 2 kittens about your tanky bear since it doesn’t do anything and just mass aoe spam you.
Good advice from Indoles. In addition to what (s)he said, consider the Jungle Spider as well since it brings two immobilizes (one on F2 use) and is a ranged pet.
As for talents, I’m usually not a big fan of the bleed on crit since it’s only a 1 second bleed, but for a heavy condition build, it may still be worth bringing. You could consider going a heavy emphasis on traps if you’re using a condition build, but they don’t tend to shine as well as in sPvP. However, condition builds in better are tougher to pull off in WvW since they tend to inherently require more close range combat than something like a longbow direct damage build.
If you do stick with conditions though, consider an axe + torch weapon set since a close splitblade along with throw torch can put up some heavy dots on an enemy quickly.
Fan of the snow leopard and the owl. Using lightning reflexes, frost and spike trap on my trapper 1 on 1 build. And then i hold my thumbs hoping i dont meet someone who out-conditions my emphatic bond…
