What would you guys like to see Beyond Druid?
We already know some things, it’s gonna be a staff with support and condi playstyle.
Inb4 a million suggestions of “I want a spec that lets us get rid of our pet”.
I’d like to see more magic-based weaponry for Ranger personally. Rangers already hit on that aspect to a degree with spirits, and I’d like to see it expanded further as they already have plenty of martial weapons. I mean, Druid / staff is probably going to fill that niche to a certain degree, but honestly, I want even more than that. Give me a Scepter that has decent single-target ranged DPS (since our only ranged 1H weapon right now isn’t great for DPS unless you get multiple enemies) and a bit of support mixed in. For utilities, I actually envision a new kind of utility skill which would place a debuff on a chosen enemy, and any allies who hit that enemy receive a bonus, whether that be in the form of buffs on the allies or other more interesting effects.
In terms of possible changes to profession mechanics, perhaps one that replaces our pets current F2 attack with some kind of support aura or something would be interesting. Or perhaps something that removes your second pet, but in turn makes your pet swap button into a second special ability for your single pet (and said special ability would work with swap traits, so they wouldn’t render them useless).

I’d love to see 2h Spear. You could have almost the same skills as UW spear, but change Whirling Strike for something more like Serpent’s Strike and Dart a 900 leap on a shorter CD. Add a few boons on the skills too, like retaliation and vigor. Make the f5 a piercing ballista type spear throw or something.
I would like an Arcane Archer type of character. It could be a Longbow+Shortbow build, with Glyphs (from Ele) which change based on the active weapon type.

a swordman with use of stances every stances would act as a kit. the ranger gain different able ties . for example one stance would focus on blocking evades the other would send out cutting wave to counter kitting. an other stance focus on mobility.

You wouldn’t really need to change very much to be able to achieve this. Several trait changes, make traps into a kit and spirits have a much larger range. Cripshot toolbox Ranger with miles of mobility, pressure, interrupts and decent damage.

Predator’s Instinct – “Whenever you hit with an attack, your target is crippled for 2s. Does not apply if target was already crippled.”
With constant reapplication, we can lock people down and keep them out of the fight or from completing objectives. With all the -condi duration, teleports, movement skills not affected by cripple etc, it is not OP.
Refined Toxins and Poison Master – Delete Refined Toxins, move Poison Master to Master tier and change to “Whenever you hit with an attack, your target is poisoned for 1s. You deal 20% more damage with Poison.” Allowing perma poison as long as you continue attacking.
Soften the Fall – Remove the Muddy Terrain part and merge with Natural Vigor.
Replacement for Soften the Fall – Storm’s Embrace - “You move 25% faster.”
Replacement for Poison Master in GM – Natural Stride - “Whenever you gain a condition, you also gain Super Speed and Resistance for 2s. 5s ICD”
Nature’s Vengeance – This trait needs a lot more to make spirits viable. Boons need to be changed to be powerful, since the spirit can easily be killed. Regen=Resistance, Swiftness=Quickness, Might=Fury. Double the passive range. The proc timings need to be 50% uptime as well.
Traps – Combine these into an Elite Kit. Add an Elite Trap, Smoke Trap, smoke field, blinds and dazes, 60s CD.
Make Camp – Add a survival skill, “You lay a campfire at your location.” …the skill swaps to become… “You instantly return to your camp” 10,000 teleport. 60s CD.
Disrupting Accuracy – Signet skill, Passive: “Whenever you critically hit with an arrow, you daze your target for 1/4s. 5s ICD. Active: Stun your Target for 3s.” 60s CD.

I want a Hunter spec, with a long-range single target rifle and a proper tracking dog that would pop invisible stuff out of stealth. Also, they would have to re-release the monocle.

I would want the spec to be a Lone wolf type of Ranger. The one with no pet.

The condi bit wasn’t announced / datamined at all. I sincerely hope it’s not true.
I would personally love to see a ranger as skirmisher with off-hand shield.
The shield itself would have blocks/deflects (duh), but perhaps with a mobility angle that isn’t present in other shield-using professions (Example: if a melee attack is blocked, move behind attacker and cripple, etc), and it could gain Physical abilities from the warrior.
The idea is a physical, melee playstyle that is a middle-ground between the raw physicality of the warrior and the high-mobility style of melee Ranger/Thief.

Future Elite Spec without the pet might make me main a PVE Ranger Spec again… But, that’s at least two years away from happening (judging by how long they’ve been working on HoT).

Its a million years away from happening unless Anet changes their stance on what elite specs can do.
They’ve specifically said that they want elite specs to work WITH existing traitlines. Getting rid of the pet would make a dozen traits completely useless including most of the Beastmastery line, not to mention the effects of various weapon skills which utilize the pet as well.
Doesn’t mean people aren’t going to ask for it constantly anyway, though.
New elite spec: Paleontologist

Another trait for spirits. I would personally like to see a trait that grants movement and causes effects when spirits are activated ie quickness on quicksand, it fits thematically and would be useful when spiking or disengaging. Or water spirit leaves behind a water field which would make sense since it freaking splashes the ground…I feel that spirits simply need more utility to be useful as utilities and simple extra effects could pick them up big time.
More pets or pets specialization: a way to trade pet skills to make the pet I want.
after they tone down other profs so that we’re actually viable in competitive spvp?

All in all, I just want some group utility. I want other members of my party to mentally say “Oh great we have a Ranger!” just the same way we feel when a Guardian joined our party in nearly every gamemode…

Thats because realistically speaking, ranger has been below avg to mediocre for 3 years.
There is not a single reason to be optimistic about this class.
EXTREMELY INTERESTING PLAY STYLE
What i want is FOCUS ranger with active power build of ranger, with range of 1000-1200. Because current environment designer in anet is obsessed with obstructed world content. But first of all i want to let you guys know that i wish to bring more active stuff in game then passive.
So my idea would be: FOCUS ARCHERY
Specialization will make ranger merge with pet.
*- pet gets removed
*- ranger gets 20% more power on all skills
SPECIAL ABILITIES:
- F1 F2 F3 become active skills. F1-2-3 have no cooldown and work with new alternative.
F1 will charge when you walk, more you walk, more you recharge, this would encourage people to move in order to perform extremely good.
F2 will recharge with using Longbow skills.
F3 will recharge on use of F1 and F2
- F1 Focus shoot. Ranger stands still and performs powerful shoot. (The longer you hold F1 more damage you make when you release F2 arrow will shoot). Focus shot can be charged from 1/2 to 1.1/2 sec. The longer you charge more power and more speed it has. Focus shot always crits, Focus shot is unblockable, can be dodged. This skill has no internal cooldown.
- F2 Quick shoot. Ranger performs an very quick 1/2 instant cast high valocity skill shot interrupt that is unblockable.
- F3 Drain magic. Ranger performs an charging 3/4 cast skill that reaches with hand and drains 15% power/condition power of people that are in range of longbow. This field has 5 player cap. This effect lasts until F3 recharge is below 50%.
When archer is specialized in FOCUS ARCHERY, longbow has new skills.
SKILL1: Light shoot, every 3rd auto attack is 100% crit. 3/4 attack speed.
SKILL2: Rapid trigger,Shoots 3 quick arrows with each delayed for 1/2. If all 3 arrows hit the target, target is stunned for 1 second, and your skill recharge is reduced for 1 second. This skill has 12 sec internal cooldown.
SKILL3: Glkittenter: Preparation has Passive empower of S1 skill, and will give arrows sharpening strike effect for each arrow landing it will reduce their Toughness and Vitality for 5, Light Shoot has 15% more damage, all arrows pierce up to 5 targets. Arrows Shatter from target to next targets behind the first one. Preparation mpowered shoots are recharged periodicity and can be applied up to 25 stacks which means ( 5×25 = 125 toughness and vitality reduction). Preperation lasts 8 seconds, if ranger misses Glkittenter goes on 10 second internal cooldown.
SKILL4: Drain shoot: shoots a light magic shoot that makes a trail path. If enemy is under Glkittenter, drain shoot leeches some health. Trail offers swiftness and slows targets. Internal cooldown 18 second cooldown.
SKILL5: Bow strike: Knocksdown for 2 seconds if target is struckt from behind else target is stunned for 1 second. This skill has 15 seconds internal cooldown.
This play style would require synergy of skill combinations and not just heedlessly spamming skills. It has also some counter play a lot of motivation for players to actually move and encourage them to play build very efficiently and high dps capitalized on CC when played correctly.
