Recognition of Your Support
Participation for events is getting an update! Supporting your allies will contribute toward event participation in most events across Guild Wars 2. You must still actively attack a target to receive rewards from them, but as long as you land a few attacks you’ll also get additional contribution from applying boons, removing conditions, reviving allies, and healing allies. These will all generate bonus contribution on top of your attacks, so players who mostly heal/support can earn the same credit as players who do large amounts of DPS.

This is aimed to us Druids, i don’t think the reven have any problem tagging the target… I’m sure it will need work and won’t be all perfectly fine at the beginning but this is a good step towards the healbot theme we have.
It’s still there the problem in WvW where you won’t get rewards for healing your allies but i’m not sure what can be done, except powering up the druid.

What do you think? No more bronce medals?

This changes everything. My last big hope is that with the new fractal levels they make bringing a druid or some other healing type helpful, not mandatory but a bit less of the max dps mentality in fractals would be nice.

similar to raid mechanics.

I’m sorry, Dave. I’m afraid I can’t do that.

I never had issues getting gold for events, I had to spam damage to build AF anyway.

I don’t say this often at all, but if you were having issues before, you’re doing it wrong. sorry.

This changes everything.

I’ve gotten gold in every single meta event I’ve ever been in since Druid dropped just from auto attack spam on staff while healing allies. Heals which, by the way, are largely unnecessary in the first place. Either events are easy enough that your heals don’t matter or the damage is so much that you can’t heal through it on enough people (Tequatal).

You can’t even heal spam without attacking on a regular basis and pet damage counts toward event participation. You would have had to basically sit around spamming WHaO regen and kept the pet on passive to not get gold before.

Why anyone would choose to play that way in the first place is beyond me though.

Hey hey i agree that the heal is the staff is the most disappointing effect i’ve seen in the ranger yet.. And this eyes has seen a lot.
I don’t use the staff anymore, i build AF with cultivated sinergy + verdant etching + a lot abuse of the glyphs, in wvw with troll unguent. Simply it feels much more rewarding pewpew power ranger (everytime i write this i can not stop thinking the music from the 90’s tv show) than star wars laser druid with sonar beams that hit targets with it’s annoying buzzing .

But they somehow addressing the problem that we do not do enough damage with the staff to tag anything (in WvW i went from 10-20 bags in condi/zerker laser druid to +50 bags with pewpew power ranger) is a good step.

That opens to the point that maybe the staff should become our condition utility weapon the same as the greatsword is our power utility weapon (and yes, somehow this weapon needs some love to make it less clunky).

I always thought that if the healing would be applied to any hit the druid do everything would be so much simpler to balance, use and define. You all know, waves of healing everywhere

My cynicism thought earlier today ‘’great, you’ll see lazy full clerics/nomad ele/druid that think they help the event by healing when it’s not needed ’’

I can see it beneficial for WvW and instances (raid, fracs, dungeons), but not needed in PvE. Otherwise, good change anyway.

I am glad this happens.

Wanted to write much more, but in the end, this is my opinion and it doesn’t need any further explonations or justifications.
