When is the next balance patch?
AGREED! (just so its 15 characters long)
ANet really need to get their priorities right. Putting 2 dev’s on active balancing is a stupid idea. The customers don’t give a crap about “New content” if you aren’t fixing the game.
Dont wait for a Patch
Jon said, that Rangers are with GS and LB Fine!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
He said nothing about that Projectiles from Shortbow and Longbow are bugged, because they dont!!! hit moving Targets…..
Im Done with Anet
+1 here…
but then… “Weaponskills are not the problem longbow is good as it is…”
I dont have any faith in the changes to come, truth to be told….
But I’m sure I’m not alone when I say that it should really not take you over a month to come out with the amount of fixes and balance changes that you inevitably did.
“It shouldn’t take you over a month?” You know this how?
Sorry, I’m as annoyed as the lack of changes as many people are here, but this statement…this “it shouldn’t take you that long to make changes!” attitude annoys me even more.
I’m a programmer. Often, when I talk to my boss who isn’t as familiar with programs, he mentions things like “Hey, can you implement this new feature? It’s pretty simple. Shouldn’t take too long right?” And the answer is almost always no. He doesn’t know the process that goes into the design, creation, implementation, and testing of code. So what he thinks is very simple, in reality can be very difficult to implement.
Same thing with these developers. These developers don’t simply go “Oh, rangers are underpowered, lets give shortbows a 10% damage increase.” I am pretty certain they have to debate the merits of the buff, its impact on various aspect of gameplay, discuss with programmers the possibility of implementing these changes, testing while fine-tuning the changes, etc…But the thing is, no one here knows what this process is exactly.
Since you don’t know what this process entails, please don’t make silly assumptions like “oh only 15 changes? That shouldn’t take a month to implement!”
Complain about the changes? Or the lack of? Get frustrated that the changes promised weren’t implemented? Perfectly fine. But to expect certain amount of things to be done in a certain period of time WITHOUT knowing the process behind it is…very silly.

I too am a programmer, and as you’ll know, if their programmers were worth their salt they would have set the environment up so that it can be easily tweaked for balance changes later on.
You make a valid point. Management have a habit of expecting things to be done very quickly, when in reality it takes a lot longer.
I’m just confused about why they haven’t addressed problems that have been consistently expressed by multiple players. It also can be difficult to “Balance” changes, but surely after the statement, and after all the threads from unhappy players you would have thought they would have rather over compensated then under compensated.

When was the first balance patch?
When was the first balance patch?
I’m trying to figure that out too. Can’t have a next if you haven’t had a first…. owait, the first balance patch was during one of the BWE. :p
When they completely gutted the ranger.
Dragonbrand – Level 80 – Human Ranger

You mean the one where they made the Ranger unable to beat the warrior 1v1 without the pet, like they could before, thereby undermining the Warrior as a class? Yeah, that would have been the after the first beta.
The first beta. The first thing. That got changed. The very first thing.
So to all you guys saying/demanding/expecting the Ranger somehow match a warrior with the longbow? Not gonna happen.
First. Thing. Nerfed.
Meh dont wait for “balance” cuz Anet doesnt know what that means, they only care about warriors and thieves since their employees are playing only those two classes.
After first BWE they turned ranger to garbage, they could remove it from the game no1 would notice, but they kept it so ppl have “variety” of classes to “enjoy” playing.
what “next” balance patch? there has never been a balance patch.
And with 2 “designer” as dev for pvp there will never be a patch like this.
More new PvE content is more importent than fixing bux and balance classes.
We have to accept.

To buff weapon damage would take less than ten minutes unless this is some kind of freakishly over complicated process. It is changing a number value. And to determine balance all you have to do is develop a baseline of survivability, damage, healing, and utility to create balance. I worked on a private RO server helping to balance the pvp and while I know there is a huge difference between RO and GW2, I also know it doesn’t take two months to fix something that is broken.
I wouldn’t expect anything until January. The team will be busy working on testing/implementing Christmas holiday stuff next month. After that, who knows.

They’ll be working on that at the moment. I would much much much rather they prioritize bug and balancing, rather then bringing out new content. Fix the kitten you already have. I know they’ll have different teams working on balance and new content, but have a shake up and move more people in to balancing.
So Jon has admittedly said that they wanted to add more to rangers in general and possibly more classes but ran out of time. He also mentioned having limited resources citing that only 2 people work on actively balancing the game. That said, it is understandable that the amount of work they have limited this patch.
But I’m sure I’m not alone when I say that it should really not take you over a month to come out with the amount of fixes and balance changes that you inevitably did.
So… When is the next balance patch coming? Is it in a few days? A week? 3 weeks? Waiting until Christmas until we can get a BALANCE UPDATE?!
A response would be appreciated.
I love this game and I love my ranger (well that love is cooling off a bit XD). That said balance is a very very important part of the game. It is a big part of how muhc people enjoy the game and feel good about their characters, and so it really seems like it would be in arenanet’s best interests to have a team of people constantly working on balence instead of just two people no matter how brilliant they may be.
But I’m sure I’m not alone when I say that it should really not take you over a month to come out with the amount of fixes and balance changes that you inevitably did.

The silence from ANet is what has a lot of people frustrated. If they just told us what they planned to do, or gave us some kind of an idea of WHEN or HOW this will be done, it would help. But all we had from them were vague promises that our class wasn’t forgotten in the Halloween patch, and if this latest patch is all they have done in the time, why is it that all other classes have had multiple times the amount of changes?

Wait. They (or he) had already told us what they are gonna do. Shouts, spirits being lackluster blah blah blah. And it was supposed to be delivered at the “next patch”, which is 2 days ago. The only problem is that it didn’t get delivered. Just because they only got 2 people working on it and there are over 500 skills blah blah blah.
TL;DR The only problem is their staff lied to us.
I smell the usual “Thank you for your feedback this post will be closed” response coming soon… As that seems to be the most amount of feedback were gonna get. Some kind of legit response would be nice though but im not gonna hold my breath, I’m off this game for now and if nothing gets fixed by next month then a nice quick uninstall will be in the works!
Sorry, but they’ve had plenty of time to fix all of this. If they are complaining about only having two people on staff to balance this game, then they should hire more people, or they will lose players. It’s REALLY that simple.
If Peters continues to do these fixes then there is no hope in fixing this class any time soon. Sorry rangers
it should be up in the next 40ms

I get what you are saying, and I agree. But a month passed and all they gave us were very minor unimportant buffs. Sure spirits are legit now and GS got a a good deal better, but wtf is with the harpoon buff? They coulda used that time on another weapon, or fixing the obstruction bug.
If Peters continues to do these fixes then there is no hope in fixing this class any time soon. Sorry rangers
Rangers are the Mages of Everquest, only the foolish will remain with their ranger hoping for fixes. Everyone else already knows this is a kitten class that will remain at the bottom of the food chain and is moving on.
I don’t call them “Balance Patches” I call them “Warrior Buff patches” so we’ll never get a balance patch.
ok fine whatever dont care

the “crismas” event is comming,, that event is more important that this class,,, and hire more devs and testers seems to impact the millons of dolars of profits.. so until February or March dont wait nothing… you are losing you comunity ANet..

Well, Xmas wasn’t as big of a deal as Halloween in GW, that being said we’re still going to get a fairly huge event with it… that being said though, idk why that would mean we wouldn’t be getting balance a lot of the event stuff is probably done by a different group of people than the ones who do the balancing…
