Was poking around in EB last night with my thief buddy, we killed a small enemy group few times. Every single time they tried to pin me down and ignored my friend, so I kited and he killed them. Soon after the guardian (I’m only assuming it’s him, could be the warrior too but the guardian died more) started to whisper me and accuse me of speedhacking. At first he either blocked me or he dc’d as I couldn’t reply to him at all (He however reported me for abusive language, which makes me wonder how can I do that if I wasn’t able to even reply to him in the first place?), but then after he said he had me reported 5 times he either unblocked me or was sticking around for long enough for me to be able to reply few lines. So! As I am not a speedhacker and I have nothing to hide.. Here it is. Me running in circles without speedhacks. I’m using all my cooldowns defensively since these guys were trying to focus me down while my sidekick blinds and backstabs them. I have high endurance regen due one trait plus I get vigor from my stunbreaker, both weapon and survival skill cooldowns are relatively short due the CD traits I had picked. No black magic there.

So the point of this post is merely to reach the dude who accused me and prove him wrong. I found this quite amusing but at the same time a bit upsetting that someone who claims to know the class ends up throwing accusations like that. I also posted this over at http://www.gw2wvw.net since the match up topics are there. So if you know the dude, could you forward the link to him? I truly hope the dude watches the video, feels bad and stops being so trigger happy with reporting & accusations. That is all, thanksu!

It happened to me in my first week of playing my ranger in WvW. People are so used to rangers being free bags that we must be cheating when we win. Just laugh at him and take it as a compliment.

I have been accused using hacks when i use Protect me/ Longbow stealth/ Pet hack with Guard etc. Just because i owned them as a ranger lol.

Get it a lot….they don’t get we can bunker with the best of em, they see Ranger and assume easy kill but dont have the sense to break off when it isnt happening…they focus me all the time when with guild and typically gets the enemy killed as I just don’t drop easily.

They assume ranger is glass dps build and high priority take down. Its not a bad asumption since there are so many, just sometimes it is :p

Not going to happen. Anet doesn’t mind griefing/trolling. I could make a long list that supports that statement but it’s a waste of time.

While I find this hysterical, I hope you only put so much effort in to this just to make us all laugh at how ignorant he is, and not because you’re genuinely worried about anything.

It would have been someone with a skill like Whirling Wrath, when they use it and you’re within your Sword dodge, it comes up as Dodgedodgeodgedodge. To the untrained eye, it ‘looks’ like you’re dodging non-stop.

Also thanks for posting, this made me laugh. Nice dodging in your video too, I can’t seem to get my Sword leaps to flow so smoothly lol. (also gave your vid a like)

The screenshot made me giggle. Someone doesn’t know the profession he is fighting against at all. The video, man you are awesome at using this profession defensively. So many of the skills can be using beyond just hitting others with them…nice to see them used outside the box.

Just watched the video. Very very nice ! Good for a laugh Question. Most of your damage is cleave? I know it is far easier to use Sword to it’s full ability when you don’t have anyone targeted ….but you didn’t have anyone target most of the fights ? …other than when you call out a target.

Thanksu! I didn’t have a target because I’m bouncing around with the 1h sword and GS swoop, the damage I did while doing so was pretty much accidental as I tried to kite and stay alive rather than do damage. If I had a target during that, I’d just end up getting myself into more trouble. I regularly get myself killed while I try to swoop away but forget to drop a target and then get insta splatted. I hope I’m not the only doing that! It’s a bit embarrassing when it happens :< I usually have someone targetted when I’m using swords offensively tho, but sometimes when I’m doing hit and run-style of things it’s just much easier to do it without a target as you can get away pretty easily.

I Run something similar and people always seem to target me because i am a ranger. the amounts of evade i have on my build is amazing since i run martial and also offhand training. around 30~40% of the time im evading, the other i am under protection and vigor for more evades and damage.

Sometimes I think that my character has some kind of magnet attached because in small fights (WvW), no matter what, as soon as they see me everyone focuses on me and I have to spend the rest of the fight just dodging.

I run tanky with a LB and a bear while roaming with my friends who run a zerker thief, zerker guardian (or maybe it’s knights?) and zerker warrior and it’s effectively a global taunt lol. I just keep them distracted as my friends tear the attackers to shreds.

I have been trying to balance out the damage and tankyness and I think I’m slowly getting to the sweet spot where I can stay alive and still do o-kay damage. I’m usually running duo or trio with a thief and a mesmer, so with me being the only non stealthclass I get focused a lot and that’s why I have relatively high toughness and HP. People are more comfortable with going after a person who can’t disappear all the time so being a squishy is a no go for me.

But even if I’m tank-ish, I don’t want to hit like a wet noodle! Sadly with the stealth nerf to the sigil stacking my damage went down a bit. I used to have the power stacking sigil on my torch (Aoe firefield for faster tagging in camps and so on), then swap it out for dagger/warhorn when I had full stacks. Mainly using warhorn outside of combat but sometimes I get stuck with it if I’m too slow with swapping. That’s why I have my inventory open all the time so I can swap quickly and reapply my foodbuffs without a hassle :> I had the sigil in my underwater weapons too so I could swap weapons out without losing the stacks but now that is not possible anymore, I have to figure out what to do with my weapon sigils. Not sure if I should replace a force sigil @GS with the stacking one or just roll with what I have.

Either way, I think I do decent damage? I suppose LB would be superior damage-wise but it doesn’t fit my playstyle. Besides, if you have an awesomesaw, would you really play with a silly bow instead of a thing that goes vrumvrum? Yeah but still no official word on whether this was a stealth nerf or just a bug. You can keep your stacks by swimming on top of the water though

LOL. More and more like Master’s Bond.

The whole point of running a bunker/skirmisher build is to go out there and pretend you have a big bullzeye on your back, pretend it’s day 1 with your ranger and you don’t know why you happen to be running towards a bunch of enemies, pretend that you should be running away instead and destroy every single misconception anyone has about rangers by dancing into all of your victims as you destroy them in battle, especially thieves.

similar build that has a huge vigor uptime and evades using fire and air sigils on sword/dagger/axe. Evade for days and damage is good with leech, air, and fire.

It works great for me and i can burst some people down pretty fast. On occasion i use sickem and it just does wonders.

best part about being a target is when people cant kill you and your team mates just get free passes to lay damage down.
