Where did all the hunters go?
There are still plenty of us around. However, plenty of people have joined the various bandwagons that are not Ranger. Perhaps you’ve noticed it’s easy to accidentally have a group where all your party members are Warriors/Guardians.

Rangers were known as the most OP class during the beta’s, lots of people rolled rangers at launch not knowing they were nerfed. so, they got mad and rolled thieves.
Most people discovered how ranger is bad in pve and made an alt who has less problems grouping for arah/fotm/speedruns.
I know because i did, and everyone i knew who mained ranger (and was not even involved in beta) did as well. Personally, i still use it for DE/open world pve because i like the “feeling” of the class more than my guardian, war and mesmer, but always switch (or am forced to switch by the group) for anything else.
They all have rerolled, i am probably one of the only ones left that use one, not because is good just because rerolling another class meeeh, too much time and money.
Please call it “Ranger.”
I know they are similar in many ways, it just irks me somehow.
I troll because I care

Most people got used to ‘hunter’ after playing WoW for a few years.
Anyways, I came back recently as well and noticed a distinct lack of rangers. Started a dungeon and immediately noticed why. My pet dies in 2 hits on every boss so is completely useless and therefore a big chunk of my dps is missing. Spirits get 1-hit killed by even the most simplest of trash mobs, and my dps is not really something to write home about.
Rerolled guardian myself, what class will you reroll too?
PS: Not being able to play without your pet is really annoying, just give us a dps boost if we play without our pet or something.
What dungeon did you play in?
What pet(s) were you using?
What spec?
My pets and I were all up in melee range of several bosses last night and did very well … and I had 0 points in beastmastery.
You can also use ranged pets that have their own benefits that are quite nice.

This ranger is still here and I’m glad they are not the “popular” class. Maybe that satisfies the rebel in me, but too many player who do not know how to play a class will give that class a bad rep. Remember huntards from WoW? Thank goodness DKs came along.
In full disclosure I didn’t discover the ranger until this past December after trying out every class since I started playing in beta. I do have two alts, a low level mesmer and a mid level engineer, but my ranger is my main.
See you in Tyria.
Yep, there was an abundance of huntards in WoW … but which class was so cool, unique, and powerful in skilled hands that they had their own weapon that required kiting powerful demons across hostile high level zones? :-)

yea until a rogue stun lock you to death, Hunters as rangers in gw2 were easy on PvE because the pet tanking. On PvP it was other story. at least during the burning crusade. There was just a selected few rangers with arena rating of 2k or more.
They were called huntards because easy mode on pve and people said the ones rolled hunters sucked that’s why they were bad at pvp but the true was the class was garbage. Seem like that is coming to GW2, now rangers are hard to master and like noobs roll it that’s why everyone is whining on forums but in “fact rangers are OP” and “good” according to some “leet players”. lol

I never got to do that, I could have but I wasn’t even aware of it’s existance back then, I miss the good old days in WoW before and during BC, after that it just wasn’t the same anymore and ended up as a very expensive chat function for me.
Rogues (the Wow Thief) were just ridiculous in Burning Crusade … made my warlock hate life … how many times could they be immune to magic (oh it’s only 90% immune! lol) and shed all my dots or reset the fight. Ugh.
They got theirs later on after BC though
Honestly though, I have more fond memories of DAoC and EQ1 than I do Shadowbane, Lineage II, EQ2, and WoW.

Only played WoW out of those, also mages were stupid strong and the priest was totally unbeatable back then if I recall correctly.
I only played hunter though, a dwarf, I miss dwarves.
The hunters are in WoW. Go look for them there.
Oohh, you meant Rangers. We’re under the rug, where Anet has left us for some time.
You players that are nothing but negative could save time by just posting this image in all your posts.
