Personally, I have rerolled a guardian and have not regretted it since. Unlike a ranger, you can be anything you want. DPS, tank, you can even become a pseudo-dedicated healer if you want to! It’s absolutely amazing.

It’s just too bad that I’ve only just begun a guardian. When I bought the game I was initially torn between guardian and ranger, and much to my misfortune, a flip of the coin had decided for me to start out with ranger. Oh, ye cruel fate!

So, what about you? Any fellow guardian rerollers here? Or perhaps you have rerolled a thief or a warrior so that you can actually be decent at doing ranged damage? Let’s hear your stories!

Started a Warrior, but now I’m thinking about going Ele instead. I play mostly WvW, do a ton of supply running, and sometimes scouting/watching certain areas, so the ability to cover ground quickly is really important to me. Also, I’m the type of player that can be happy with one class for a long long time, if it fits my play style; it sounds like the Ele is really versatile, and I think it will be an effective class for years to come.

Warrior. Signet warriors are ridiculous dps glass cannons, and at lvl 60 I’m doing more damage than my exotic geared “glass cannon” power/prec ranger. Unfortunately the survivability is only slightly better. Whatever, I wanted a glass cannon and ranger was not it.

83% complete map.. maybe after I get 100 I’ll consider another class.

I made a Engi after Ranger, its awesome i can finally play a support healer and DPS as well its so much more fun.

Poor Ranger needs so much love from Anet to be Viable, maybe one day it’ll get that love, until then i’m support Engi

I re-rolled to guardian as well, and it is a really fun class with a lot of options. I’m not a super leet or competitive pvp player so the bugs with the ranger pretty much go by unnoticed for me but still hoping for changes.

Funny thing is i actually rerolled to a ranger. I have an 80 engi, 80 warrior, and my old main is an 80 necro (250 hours played with him alone). I enjoy the ranger a lot though. I can understand some of the QQ in these threads but overall ranger is not bad.

Yeah, I posted a thread a while back on how to change your Guardian into the best Ranger, but they deleted it because “Please refrain from making frivolous threads. Thank you.” when in reality I was being dead serious.

Basically, you put on runes of ogre for Rock Dog and use Spirit Hammer, so now you have two pets that activate when you need them and will cause a hell of a lot of chaos. I like to use Hammer and Staff for extra knockdown power and 12 stacks of might is a bit ridiculous.

Thief. I wanted a medium armor class that can be played melee and doesn’t have to deal with bad AI companions – Thief was the only answer. I play it kitten P or S/D and Shortbow on a beefier build rather than the typical burst build, though.

I actually rerolled to a ranger, started with a thief, and I really found the thief dissappointing, so after I hit 100% explored with it I rerolled Mes, still not satisfied after hit lvl 80, then rolled war, same thing, then guardian, same thing there, and now as I have played 200+ hours on my ranger I have to say that it is the most fun class to play out of the 5 listed ones. Only thing is I would like to have the option to play w/o a pet and still do the same amount of damage, or at least just let that pet sit somewhere else and not pulling every single mob around me!

Warrior. Shout build actually has good group support and I’m still very effective dps.

Two things rangers lack. Group support and good dps.

I haven’t because I only take the time to level one character. 12/14 is do or die time for me and GW2.

I have one of every class, but 2 rangers. One uses bows the other will be a sword/axe and greatsword ranger I think.

Always have and always will play a ranger; I win the vast, vast majority of duels and mostly only duel people over 35 as well.
Canines are just insanely good….

I went 50-50~ with an obnoxious d/d ele that could self heal out the kitten , then had only a few scrapes with death in the next few dozen duels against other solid players.

As a WvW player i rerolled to rifle warrior.

Couldn’t be happier, although wishing i rolled warrior from the beginning.

I rerolled from thief to guardian and then to ranger. Call me masochistic but i love my range guy

Haven’t rerolled, still have my ranger but I’m leveling my thief now. She’s 50 atm.

I still have my Ranger but it is reduced to collecting lodestones and the occasional dungeon run (non-speed runs.) I did re-roll as an Engineer. The sheer variety, potential and less-bugged state of the class is enjoyable.

Still deciding on whether to level up my Elementalist or Guardian to have a third option of play.

i rerolled to necro for a less painful experience. then i tried bunker ranger for a day or two. went back to my necro for a less painful bunker experience. waiting for 14th.

I have an 80 warrior and elementalist, but I’m still levelling up the other classes.(eventually I will level them all up, since levelling in this game is so easy)

I find warrior to be fairly boring and stiff compared to the fluid, agile-evasive style of ranger. I definitely wouldn’t switch to it as my main. Although, with boon duration food and traited signet cooldown reduction, warrior has pretty much permanent swiftness from signet of rage, which is crazy good for running around.

If I were going to switch to another, my mainstay would most likely be elementalist. They are quite a blast. It’s like a grand mix of an EQ bard, some type of wizard, and a WoW warrior(stance dancing). So much utility and so many fun abilities. Ride the Lightning may be the coolest ability in the game, also.

That said, I still enjoy my ranger the most. I originally started off as warrior, then switched over to my ranger full-time, later on.

rerolled to thief, with a small warrior also leveling.

gotta admit i love thief, pistol/pistol is the best way to kite while doing dmg, dagger/dagger for melee dmg. or if i feel like trolling my opponent, sword/dagger to continually evade around them till they scream thier heads off.

loving thief cause i can stealth and get away from combat(with speed and shadowstep)
without pet dragging me into combat again cause it wont stay stowed.

i do miss ranger’s sword animations and the longbow’s barrage. but giving them up to get rid of pet and to get actual dps(instead of the laughable ammount ranger has) is nice.

as for thief’s elite skills. i wish i could get entangle, as dagger storm, while being good, isnt really me. but thief’s guild works.

and finally i wish thief could use a rifle(liek a sniper) or a greatsword(….yeah i dont really know why i want to use it but ranger’s GS animations and that block were amazing)

so yeah…i miss ranger but i don’t regret leaving it because Anet is never going to give a crap about fixing it.

I’m thinking of rolling a Guardian next. While my pet and COTW alone can kill off many lower level beasts, the number of hits I have to land to kill off just about ANYTHING is rather insane! Granted, I’m not expecting 1-2 shot kills but less than 6 would be MUCH BETTER than 3-4 dozen on each target!

I have an 80 warrior and 80 guardian now. I still like my ranger but I wanted to try some other classes while they worked on ranger buffs. Warrior is very efficient in PvE, but I find guardian is better for WvW, which is where I spend most of my time. The self healing/tankyness of the guardian is borderline op, although the lack of mobility is somewhat annoying.

I’ll probably pick up my ranger for a while after the patch.

As a pet lover I re-rolled a necro, minions are fun but not as reliable, so after she’s 80 I came back to my ranger main. After only a few times in FotM while not even completing any level (kill easy mobs, suicide, quit level, rinse and repeat) I was able to get him a quiver(love it btw) and now I’m aiming to get 100% map completion with him before the end of the world.

Necro. A dagger/dagger CC tank. It’s brilliant.

I’ve had something of a Ranger Renaissance over the past week though. Rediscovered the longbow and marksman/skirmish builds after opening strikes was fixed.

I cant reroll, ranger is too much fun for me and I dont have many problems with it. Everytime I start a new character I get to lvl 5 or so and I delete and go back to ranger. Im in love. Hehe.

Yes the class is weak right now, but they’ll eventually buff it, and any class you roll that’s Overpowered will be nerfed…That’s the nature of MMO’s

My Valkyrie in DAOC was far worse then the ranger in this game when that class was first released, It was so bad that I came back to the game 6 month’s after the class was released, and rolled it, and proceeded to hit RR5 before everyone else in the game on the Valk, despite everyone having a 6 month head start (also was first RR10 and RR11 on valk in the game as well)

It was absolutely an awful class in every way, and guess what…It got buffed to be massively overpowered and pretty much unkillable 1v1.

I don’t see the point in not rerolling. There’s 5 character slots per account by default; and the lack of a rat race means that there’s really no harm in experiencing more than one flavour of profession, race and backstory options. I mean, it’s not like you have to delete any progress.

I haven’t rerolled at all. I’ve made a few alts to play around with so I can see how things are for other classes, but the Ranger will ALWAYS be my main. Its playstyle just fits me like a glove.

about this, but i have issues deciding between mesmer and ranger… god both the play styles are so awesome if only i could combine them…

However, in the end out of all the alts i’ve made i’ve always returned to ranger, so i doubt i’m going to be rerolling anytime soon…

Rifle warrior. Way more survival, way more dmg, way more fun. Need more?

Started off with a Warrior. Rolled a Guardian and got that to level 80 and got bored with the play style. Rolled an Ele, got to level 24 can’t stand the lack of dps and survival so I quit it and rolled a Ranger. Having a blast with it so far.

Next on my list will be either a Necro or Theif. I want another MM, I had one in GW1 and it rocked but I hear the Necro MM is not up to scratch so I might go with a Thief for sneaky backstabs. Unsure though as I am focusing on my Ranger.
