Guild Wars 2

I have just gotten Guild wars 2 and I’m very excited.But there’s been a few things that I’ve been wondering about. Here’s the one that irks me the most:

Which pet should I take? (Golly it’s like Pokemon all over again)

I plan on starting off playing as a female Asura ranger. So I need something with at least good moves and stats. If you have an answer,please reply back.

You can get all of the pets in the wild (excluding Hall of Monument pets, but those are basically reskins of pets you CAN get)

so get whichever one you would like, and if not, your starter choices are usually on the 1-15 map you start on, so it won’t take long to get another one

It really doesn’t matter

Take whatever pets you want, now the AI is updated they are all good choices (except maybe scorpions)

Nah, Devourers are still good, they’re very good at self survival and have pretty kittening good DPS (it always surprises me how well they kill things).

@OP: I started with the Flamingo I believe because I thought the idea of a midget and a giant pink bird killing things was hysterical.

Pigs are still pretty bad. They have this dumb 3s wind up that charges where the enemy was 3s ago.

Devourer comes second lowest after bear in DPS though. The DPS can drop even lower if given the chance to use Devourer Retreat. But yeah, they have good self survival.

1 Feline
2 Bird
3 Canine = Drake
4 Spider = Porcine = Moa
5 Devourer
6 Bear

Tier 3 and 4 pets actually have very similar DPS so you could group them together.

Bear: 91.6s

F2 not included in test, so unless Devourers have some massive spike on F2, I’m afraid its at the very bottom with the bears

Would you mind testing it with BM? I doubt that’s going to do them any justice, just curious… I remember Devourers used to be “tier 3” with the canines and drakes.

PS: bears in a real scenario actually kill a lot faster than they do vs the golems because they use their heal attack only when they’re missing HP, I’ve seen the heal crit for 1.5k (a little short of it) with it with 0 BM. This puts them above Devourers last I checked, barely granted… But there. (Last I checked it was an average of 74s kill)

Thats interesting. I just realised my drake tests doesn’t cover their heal attack as well. However, I don’t think the heal attack from bears/drakes is gonna affect overall DPS much since its on a 20s cooldown. It will shave roughly1s to kill a heavy golem.

I’ve been testing to see how BM points affect DPS of pets for a while, and am still in the process of testing. Its gonna take a while… the tests are boring as fk and time consuming.

EDIT: My bad, if heal attack is included, it’ll shave roughly 5-7s off for time to kill in 0BM scenario for drakes and roughly 3-5s for bear.

Yeah the heal attack can hit really hard, and I just realized the numbers I gave for the bear was in a full on “kill em Beary!” Build where he had +30% crit damage, perma fury, and 30bm.
