Well it seems like a not so great one, i mean you dodge the dmg but instead you reflect it. I prefer the reflect on block.

They already have Warden’s Feedback (both focus skills), Masterful Reflection (on distortion), Mirror (on heal), Feedback, probly more right now, I cannot remember.

If someone does not want to adapt their build to counter other builds, they should uninstall as they shouldn’t be PvPing.

OK, I’ll bite. “How should a Mesmer deal with a longbow ranger?” Bear in mind that none of my closure skills will reach them before I get killed by the rf burst. My feedback won’t reach that far. In many situations a ranger can shoot right over my temporal curtain. I have no good means of escaping entangle nor an effective counter to stealth.

That trait is new and not in operation. and rangers can normally shoot OVER my curtain reflect. that leaves one reflect on a very long cool down and a phantasm. It sounds like rangers like the fact they have an OP edge and want to keep it,

Not to mention the fact that the pet alone (which is being buffed ) is capable of killing me. Fire and forget guided missle. How is that not OP.

Somestimes training really helps a lot. I had problems with long bow rangers too, but if you practice to dodge the pushing arrow, you will be able to close the gap between them and you, especially if you have access to stealth. And the elite entangle you said before isn’t such a big thing, the vines break very fast and you can keep moving.

also, there is the matter of pressure. if you don’t apply any you will loose regardless of how many blocks or evades you have. the fight is about killing them before they kill you when you both run zerk.

As long as you think rangers hold an unfair advantage, they will.

Yeah! Why aren’t there skills to block, destroy, or reflect projectiles?! Ranger is so OP. And then that pet! That crazy fuzzball! Always hitting people reliably and so very hard.

And you can’t even kill them and effectively neuter the rangers damage, because they’re just so OP.

Yup. That’s why everyone hates us. Definitely because of our OP pets and our unstoppable rapid fire attack.

Mesmer complaining about hiding that’s pure comedy. I won’t tell you to l2p I think at this point ‘u bad’ might be the only why to describe this if the pet alone can kill you. Here’s a tip for free the pet has a leash range so you can just escape from Fluffy-eater-of-face.

Not even, just melee DPS. Then an 11k maul will happen and we’ll get complaints greatsword is OP.

Looking forward to the bear-spammage that will happen with maul on swap going into a 2s cooldown. Friend of mine plays an all-melee power ranger with intelligence sigils. The double maul under QZ will be quite silly.

The Ranger pet is already OP vs a light armor class. Like thieves, you rangers pick on people and you troll from a distance.

If you want respect, don’t insta burst from 1500 out then laugh and say “L2P.” because in truth.. you’re simply taking advantage of a broken class.

In more than one match I’ve had a ranger or pair of rangers actually follow me and enjoy slamming me repeatedly. Same stupid sequence. PBS-> Pet CC or Entangle -> rapid fire.. which manages to ignore my temporal curtain reflect about half the time.

Rangers, as a class, seem to be the type that like to troll and then laugh and say “L2P.” You’ve made a real enemy of me and I’d like to see the class out of the game.

The Longbow is already OP as is Entangle and the pet. Whenever I see a ranger in pvp the word that comes to my mind is “cheat.”

I’d like to see y’all quit whining for more upgrades. Your class is too easy to play already with massive CC, stealth and a guided missle pet with it’s own CC.

I’m about 95% certain that this is a trollpost but just incase it’s not… Mesmers are much more trolly by nature than Rangers. You turn people in to birds… You’re based around playing mind games with your opponent and for those of us that aren’t skill clickers you destroy our tab key.

Funnily enough, Rangers that burst you down from 1,500 and say L2P are usually right. That doesn’t mean they’re any better… But it does mean that you should maybe learn to keep an eye on your peripherals and learn how to kite, LOS, etc.

Sometimes Rangers will catch you off guard at the worst possible times. So do Thieves… So do Mesmers… So does every profession. That’s what happens when you tunnel vision. I get shatter bursted FROM STEALTH by Mesmers more often than I get spiked down from 1,500 range by a Ranger because at least I can see the Ranger coming…

So… tldr; it really truly is L2P…

Well,
- Mirror to reflect almost all of RF every 15s.
- Blink or Phase Retreat either out of range or behind the Ranger.
- Dodge the RF, PBS or Entangle.
- Trait Warden’s Feedback and use either focus skill.
- Trait Masterful Reflection and use a skill or shatter that gives Distortion.
- use LoS.
- Gap close and stay close to the Ranger, there are a lot that cannot fight melee effectively.
- Use Blurred Frenzy, it is on a 12s CD.
- Use Illusionary Riposte, is on a 15s CD.
- Use Illusionary Counter to block PBS.
- Feedback/Medic’s Feedback
- Use Mantra of Distraction, Counter blade, Magic Bullet, Illusionary Wave, or Diversion to interrupt the RF channel. Use Power Block to give RF a +10s CD.
- Use stealth before the RF channel begins or just constantly like Mesmers can.
- Trait Mirror of Anguish to punish for using PBS as a KB.
- Trait Blurred Inscriptions if you use signets.
- Weaken the Ranger.
- Use Retaliation.
- Moa Morph.
- Make lots of clones etc to make targeting you more difficult.

You have a pretty comprehensive amount of skills and traits at your disposal that can utterly destroy a Glassbow, so learn how to play your chosen class, adapt and up your game.

If you’re struggling now you’re gonna hate it next week!

OP, you need to make yourself a ranger and try glass-bowing someone actually proficient with his class (even another mesmer), and then repeat what you’ve said. The only true claim of your is the range on the longbow, Entangle is telegraphed, pet is kitteny in it’s controls and reaction.

P.S. You can mitigate, like, 75% of Rapid Fire with 1 dodge.

More than that if you’re a Mesmer with dodge clones traited.

Not sure if troll post but I usually hop on my mesmer to counter LB rangers. I’m more fearful of condi rangers because they seem less “entry-level”. There are good LB rangers but there’s just so many new and average ones.

Not sure if this is a troll post, either, but the best advice I can give you is to create a PvP glassbow ranger and run several matches with it. You’ll learn how to counter it by how others are dealing with you. The meta double ranged shatter Mesmer can make quick work of LB ranger, but requires a bit of setup.

A couple things to consider:

1. Rapid fire is suicide if you have confusion on you.
2. Longbow Rangers are laughably (sadly) weak to control effects.

I personally think the celestial variety are a greater threat, but it sounds like the power ones are what you are having problems with.
