It’s pretty obvious to every profession (evening those that were QQing themselves) now that rangers are in dire straits.

My question is, why are we Anet’s neglected runt child? What is it about our profession that they just can’t be bothered with? Is the pet mechanic just too much for them to handle? Or is it that every time we have something remotely good about us the other professions QQ loudly at Anet until they nerf us?

Edit: although it may look like it, this isn’t a moan thread. I genuinely would like some theories as to why this profession is so neglected. I’m personally perfectly happy playing my elementalist until the Ranger profession gets the buffs it desperately needs.

Because we have nobody to stand up for us on the PvP side, which is all Anet care about. The PvE is a just a way to sell gems and keep the game running till some esport league takes them seriously and then they can be the ejocks they never were in high school.

But yeah, Warriors are a beast of the class but it has an army of people on the PvP forums crying that it is under powered in every way, so come patch days, yet more buffs.

The only people asking for Ranger’s to be buffed on the other hand are smelly PvE players so they were ignored. They also had one good PvP build that relied on a pet to do damage and if their is one thing the PvP community of this game hates its pets because they never figured out what the V button does in this game.

@Chopps now that is interesting. If one developer can have that kind of bias or preference then perhaps the other devs have their own too? :p

@Levetty this is what riles me and it is SO true. They only nerfed Ranger pets in response to pvp QQing but didn’t stop to think that perhaps those changes weren’t needed in wvw or pve

True but the issue is Jon P is the visionary lead dev (or was dunno if he’s still with anet); his mind is likely where most class design choices originate and, being in leadership, I’m guessing he had final say over proposals.

Unfortunately,

the ranger class was never in their project until “flavor”.

I come to the conclusion that the individuals who encouraged Arenanet to bring Rangers on board were either silenced or fired because of their Beautiful Wonderful Visions tthat hey had for the class.

They had no say regarding the process of Rangers design and creation.

All of their Beautiful Visions for the Ranger classes were ’thrown under the bus".

Alongside with all of the Beautiful Wonderful Visionary deleted, closed and Infracted threads and posts, individuals had posted

Gotta say, I rolled a guardian after maxing out my ranger with stats, and tbh I just gotta say wow what a great class. Guardians are so much better mechanic wise, every weapon feels like it has its own uses and not having a pet that aggros everything is great. Shouts are instant, sigils aren’t too bad, and the weapons are great.

Guardian is my main alt class, but I still love the ranger over it. Guardian is a more balanced class with fewer issues, but I prefer the much more mobile ranger and how it plays better.
