I’m not sure the spirit build would be quite as much fun for pve roaming/world completion/DE, etc. Anyone have any success/thoughts on these builds?

I read a lot of things that make me worry about trying to get into dungeons/fractals in a serious way with my ranger, which I’m about to do for the first time since I dinged 80 last week. The problem is I love ranger sword (yeah, I’m that guy) and dropping back with the LB and becoming a turret too much to play any other class.

I’ve considered and dabbled with a GS/LB or Rifle warrior as well as a variety of Thief setups trying to emulate a similar, but perhaps more functional, playstyle to the Ranger, but it’s just not very fun. I’d appreciate some feedback or criticism from anyone of a similar bent.

Sword rangers are actually preferred for dungeons. Sword is the highest DPS weapon on ranger.

I took a quick look at both builds and they both look generally fine. The staples of effective dungeon ranger builds these days are Mainhand Sword, Spotter, and Frost Spirit, which you have all of. Dungeons and PvE in general are pretty easy, so you can really do whatever makes you happy as long as your build isn’t too awful.

Essentially, any deviation from that will be suboptimal damage, but again, given that PvE isn’t particularly difficult, moderate deviations will be okay. If you were planning to do speed runs though, you’d have to run the meta.

Not quite optimal but it allowed me to learn how to effectively DPS as Sword/WH when I was first starting out. You can swap the traits and utilities as needed and swap the Scholar Runes for Ruby orbs if you’re tight on funds.
