I main engi, warrior and necro and have played a little bearbow here and there but deleted a few weeks ago to make room for my necro but now I’m getting a little bored with how stiff my necro and warrior are.
Now I solo queue 99% of the time, is there any point me trying ranger? I’m getting a bit bored of not being able to escape on necro or not being able to stick to anyone on warrior.
So I’m stuck over trying mesmer, learning ele or trying ranger. Any thoughts from you ranger pro’s?

I love playing ranger, it is without a doubt my favorite class and a ton of fun….. but if you are really into PvP and that’s all you plan on doing you should go with mesmer or ele. Both are OP in PvP and since anet takes 6-12 months to balance anything they will be OP for a long time.
Of course the best thing to do is get a couple more character slots so you can play every class. It’s a lot easier to kill a profession when you are familiar with all of it’s mechanics.
THAT is a kitten good idea. I need 1 of each class…!!! All I lack is ranger Mesmer and thief. Just expensive buying slots zzzz…
Well I’m casual but I hate losing hahaha. I love my ebgi, enjoy necro and warr but those 2 are becoming a pain in the kitten at times. Don’t like my Ele at all, so I’ll try ranger and Mesmer agaon, see how I get on.
Is bearbow still the best option? And what is the best wvw or pve build?? Any tips for combo fields etc?
Thanks for that I see a lot of rangers chilling in PvP lobby and they look kitten also get the occasional ranger in solo queue that just wrecks everyone. Definitely something I need to play… So by bearbow I meant gs/lb. Is that still the go to build? The power ranger?
Rangers are a in a solid spot if you like to 1v1 in sPvP on nodes.
But they are weak in team fights unless specc’d properly.. support/utility is kinda meh from the ranger…
Good thing is there a lot of variety in builds for Rangers in sPvP atm..

Condi/Burning is also dangerous… That’s my prefered way to run ranger… Its just so fun.. You have SO MANY applications for condis and burning can be stacked really nice with bonfire on quickdraw cooldown + flame trap…
overall, I like the position ranger is in right now for casual pvp play… its not a top tier class by anymeans but practice enough, get skilled with it, and you can make some noise
I’m a PvE player, although I aslo main engi and have ranger as my sub ( 2nd ) class. I find the differance between the two classes refreshing and really enjoyable. When I get bored of engi and want something different I feel ranger covers it for me.

It can by all means beat a cele ele on point, you just won’t have the advantage.
Running nature magic with Protective Ward which is huge against celes + the condi removal from the survival skills gives the power ranger a fair chance if you manage the pet well. If it all goes shouth, you have the tools to disengage aswell.
As far as cele necros go, I rarely find myself 1v1 with them on side point. Can’t say I find them impossible to beat in a power spec, though.
Nice to see you guys are liking it still! I was going to rock a tiny little asura ranger tomorrow when I log in, definitely miss playing it and the build variety looks so much fun. Kinda stuck on my other classes with 1 or 2 builds but seen at least 4 I wanna run here…
Lol I was dueling this morning and threw together almost the exact same build, decided to take it into unranked for Lol’s after I was done and was easily 2v1’ing on point.
Biggest difference was I didn’t have traveler’s runes unlocked since I was on my alt account so I ran rage runes instead. Made rotating kind of crappy but that extra crit damage plus the 5% damage buff was pretty nice.
Just did 6 games this morning with that hiro build, was awesome! Never lost a 1v1, beat every Ele, thief,Mesmer etc I only really struggled vs necro but still won. Easy wins was top on every game, love doing stealth shot then gs leap into signet maul for a huge damage spike. Quick set of tomes anyway, gonna have to grind them to get these toons to 80 lol
Quick question guys how effective are rangers in dungeons and solo content? Is sa lb spotter still the top spec to use? Debating whether it’s worth lvling the ranger to 80 or keeping it at lvl 1 for spvp.

They are fine. yes spotter frost spirit is their best support/utility spec for dungs/fracs
They aren’t top tier in terms of DPS but eh, they can get the job done.
Unless you are trying to hardcore minmax speed run dungs/fracs, ranger will do just fine in PvE
