If it was offered, would you give Druid and the CAF mechanics to Guardians in trade for the Dragonhunter specialization?
I kinda think I would if Dragonhunter traps were “Glyphs” and could be ground targeted. Just a thought.

Its kind of a sideways move in some ways. Really as someone who also plays guard the DH was a disappointment to some because its this ranged dps control spec that originally made the class abilities clunky to use. Much in the way the druid was a disappointment to some because it is this weird healing support spec that doesn’t really synergize with the rest of the base class abilities all that great right now. (I’m looking at you dps ranger)
Ultimately some guards were disappointed because they wanted great support and boons, that was how they saw there role amongst the classes. Some rangers wanted more control and dps as that’s how they envisioned their role in the grand scheme of things. Truth is dragon hunter is fun to play, offers a lot of mobility and is starting to feel pretty fluid with the rest of the traits and virtues. I’m sure druid will work its way there as well. Just may take a bit.
No. Some rangers may not like the avenue which druid has taken ranger’s this time round, which is fair enough. But DH is one of the worst elite spec’s while druid is half decent but has it’s issues.
If Druid were to be traded for an elite spec, it should be half decent. Just my thoughts.
I’d swap with reaper :P
DH no thanks.

So you would trade if their mechanics where totally different … even Dragonhunters would want to trade with your version of dragonhunter lol
Anyway, my answer is no. DH is one of the lackluster elite specs, Druid seems like a great Raid and WvW class and can find a spot in PvP, but in PvE (read dungeon and open world) druids are terrible, luckily you can still play as ranger and use the new pets that are amazing.
I wouldn’t trade for a minute.
I actually like my pets. And I like Ranger Bow a lot better. and DH traits are kinda. . . not so good imo. Prefer Ranger’s traps also. I mean the list goes on forever. xD
But I am 100% that Guard would trade DH for Druid though.
No. Heck, they even said they were going to save tomes for something else in the future. Guardians next elite spec: Tome Reader. Enjoy.

HAA! that’s great!
I am very interested in how they bring Tomes back. And what weapon will be attached to the spec it comes with. But now I’m off topic…. dang it.
Of course. I kick my pet and get some cool moves instead. More traps are always welcome in my trapper build. A third bow would be strange, but better than to be a forced monk. But I already get my new druid armor
How would this even work? We get access to the new virtues and a longbow? No, thanks.
Would I swap? Every day and night.
Druid is nothing ranger needed, and nothing in ranger lore.
It makes no sense, and it’s poor designed.
I hope developer leaders of classes swap a bit, because i feel that the same people cannot stay on one role to long if they make poor mechanics. Ranger is very static mechanics wise, same as druid, very clunky, slow, nothing to impressive.
Who ever was working on HoT Ranger pets, props to this guy.
People are only happy because they can heal, thats it, other then that, it’s very poorly made, if ranger wouldn’t get new pets, i would swap to Revenant, because Druid is simply something that ranger should never get.
I’ve expected one of next points:
- empowered pets specialization with staff
- high CC, condition damage oriented staff
- High mobility ( dodgy movement basically what DD got).
Sorry to say, but team that was working on Druid, i’m sorry, I like the idea of having healers for people that did desire this kind of support. BUT you guys clearly made mechanics very clunky, and i hope from deep of my heart that there will be a lot more mechanic heavy specializations in the future. One would expect classes to become more fresh with new specs, would you?

If you want to be an OP class, you need to be in favor of Roy.
Roy is in charge of Revenant, so currently they get buffed to heaven, got the best heal, best utilities, high damage, universal roles outperforming most classes.
Roy hates ranger, so he will most happily destroy it.
(The fact that they do not allow ranger to has self boons through We Heal as One, while Revenant granted all boons to the whole party easily pretty much sums it all)
Also Revenant’s one-hand sword becomes stupidly powerful, while ranger’s one-hand sword stay clunky for 3 yrs sums up everything too.
Roy will most happily nerf all the Druid’s good things and compensate us with nothing.
I know Iren is in charge of ranger, but apparently Roy has the right to interfere the balance of ranger.
No why?
Guardians have begged for a true ranged weapon other than scepter, and now they finally have one, even if DH could use more tweaks.
As for us, we finally have something that we can do just as well, if not better than other classes, instead of the other way around.
thematically?
yes, in a heart beat. Celestial Avatar is so far away from anything Ranger its awful to behold and would fit far better on guardians. likewise, dragonhunting is something that rangers would have said “hell yes” too if it was announced for us (and presumably wasnt awful).
in reality? No.
Guardian mobility, virtue utility and ranged effectiveness is improved with DH. Traps absolutely are an abomination but maybe one day theyll get fixed (you are guardians after all, not the unforgotten stepchilds of GW2 like some of the leather classes). guardians complain about DH today, but it addresses many of their weaknesses. the traps you were given are pointless on ranger.
Druid daze is OP. The healing is probably OP. it addresses the rangers problems in that now people finally have a reason to want us around, but it creates more problems than it solves by making people demand we heal them in a class that was never advertised as being everyone elses waterboy. Druid is a class largely for non-rangers who’ve always wanted to heal.
Would I trade a completely new weapon and set of utilities in exchange for a weapon and set of utilities we already have? Uh… no?

As much as i LIKE ROY A LOT, i don’t forgive him for simply destroying heal as one, in 1 day. I’d rather have nothing then this kind of useless thing, before i had reason to pop my heal and invest risky play to power spike, now i Don’t and i simply don’t use it.
One thing is funny, i like all devs, i respect them a lot, but there is one thing in gaming industry, you should listen to community, make things awesome for every one, and not what you enjoy the most in general. As a game developer myself, I can say that there is nothing better then seeing people swapping between classes and see how much can one player do with his main class even thought they are equally balanced.
And i hate nothing more then developers that don’t care about any of things connected with balancing, making cheap solutions and leaving it this way for example, making a class +70% win rate, and simply when people get wrecked they swap to OP class with very mobile abilities and simply tear apart people, not because they are that good, but simply playing a class that is out of control.
Like current revenant and mesmer.
