[WvW] Best builds for duels?
It’s a complicated answer as you said druid, wvw and duels in the same sentence.
Roaming, druids are great
1v1, druids are great
Dueling? Many druids will happily claim to be duelers because they can stall a 1v1 forever or force the enemy to disengage or maybe even kill a noob super fast. That’s not what I would call dueling. This is the type of druid (player in general) who gets wrekt by a dueler in wvw so hard that they come crying on forums so&so is op or druids need buffs not nerfs.
So yeah sure you can duel in wvw on druid but I suspect what you actually want is a 1v1 druid to roam with. I don’t like promoting this build mostly because the person who promoted it hardest on youtube is lolworthy, but its a solid put together build.

Wait for the balance patch before you buy those 50g sigills. It should come in the next few weeks. You will also have a lot of stalemates. Especially against some warriors, but that’s probably the case with all druid builds…
Here is a different approach. A troll hybrid build that does not look that great on paper, but as I played quite some time using this, it turned out actually decent. Double knockback/stealth with LB and double staff 3 thanks to quick draw are godsend utilities in duels. Also landing ancient seeds will be far more easier. Having passive 600+ bleeding on your enemy will drive them mad as they try to figure out how they die. Don’t forget that yor pet will also cause bleeds. There are many viable food options but I like the might stacking food since it boosts my damage quite a lot.
Only problem will be reflect engineers, but they can’t kill you either. Swap LB for sword/wh and they will die soon.
Not gonna lie, this build needs some setup, but it’s really great for dueling if you learn how to use quick draw.

This more offensive variant is not bad, but the HOT powercreep hit the Troll Unguent really hard. You are pretty suspectable against burst damage even with the additional dodge. I’m curious if they will do something about it but since the shout heal is a no brainer especially in WvW.
The only things you need from HOT are the Bristleback and the Smokescale and maybe Durability runes & Concetration sigils or some of the new stats available.
That being said, you should stick to your ranger for duels. Unlike most other new specs, core ranger is by far superior to the elite spec when it comes to duels.

Only if I can duel you with my power reaper! Reaper so op at killing bunkers it’s hillarious.
And this thread is a symptom of why wvw sucks now.
Anyways be a bamf and go murder/zerk (I have a few knights armour just to get to 2.5 armour with stone) remorseless. You’ll be supseotable to good bursts, but if played right you’’ woop some kitten
Duels in wvw rofl nowadays I’m surprised if I find duelers simply cause someone always comes rageing RED dead. Or you get map called or emote spammed.
(The real duelers go to PvP lobbies) since wvw is were stats carry you

Personally, for duels, I’d probably replace Guard for Glyph of Equality. I would maybe replace CS for VE, and possibly add another glyph in there (I love glyphs, what can I say).

I can definitely see GoT being used with GoE for duels, assuming no one is being a kitten and both are in glassy gear. Edit, my “kitten” is a funnier word than it implies, not like a harsh swear. Anywho.
It’s a shame they nerfed Go for the Eyes. In the old days, with an eagle or a hawk, that would for sure be a very solid trait for duels (blind every sixth second, prefearbly in combination with traited glyphs).

You are hard but also can build really fast a lot of power damage. And also is ok for all that condi meta is around .
Dueling i don’t have much of a problem but well i do kill warriors with the dreamer just for fun…

That build probably better then that bunker garbage donee promotes on metabattle.
If I changed anything it would be swapping the commander staff and minstrel trinkets with eachother. And dump one of the bloodlust sigils for rage.
I run this in pvp and its pretty fun, though risky

Too much noise to duel in WvW. It really doesn’t belong there and that is why they nerfed Obsidian Sanctum. Otherwise you are nothing more than a speed bump by being at the wrong place at the wrong time. Aka collateral damage.
What I found interesting about HoT is that there are players who know the animations of classes and relate to their builds while the fight is going on. It is these people who clearly are above average players and do well regardless of the stat differences WvW yields. Hell, they might as well fight naked because they would still come out on top.
Hmm…that is an awkward statement or use of words. Hopefully you get the idea. Build helps but learning your class and animations of others negates flavor of the month 99% of the time. In my opinion anyway.
