WvW - Power SB - Ikiro/BSW
So I guess no one uses conditions in WvW? Cause you have 0 removal.
Am I good?… I’m good.
i havent run into a condition spec that i wasnt able to burst down quicker in smaller skirmishes. and my group hasnt yet run into a good necro who knows how to epidemic well. so far, the high HP pool has provided enough buffer. we have a guard and ele in addition to my HS that i swap to if needed, and our thief and hammer guard who spam blast finishers on the water field. this is a group-oriented spec btw.
i understand the build may raise more questions than answers to some, and it’s new to me so im testing and tweaking as i go. but the next vid will include a guide and some tougher fights for sure.

im pretty sure SoH does give a movement speed advantage in combat. it’s small, but noticeable. by default, your speed drops a lot when u enter combat.
It does, everyones speed drops while in combat but that % bonus from SoH is still there, I think many think it doesn’t work in combat because they still see their speed drop.. well it will still drop, but you’re still getting that % bonus from SoH.
i would use dogs maybe if i was dueling, but i generally dont waste time dueling in wvw unless i have to.
I keep feeling like I should use dogs, simply because more of my damage is coming from my bow but then whenever I do I feel like I’m missing those burst criticals from the birds.
This is kind of hilarious. I was just playing around with an odd beastmastery build that revovled around the Shortbow, and Greatsword. I’m thinking Primary Armor (Prec/Tough/Con Dam), with Jeweltry being (Power/Prec/Tough) running either Runes of Undead to get Con Dam up, or getting it up through Consumable.
I’m also very concerned about condition removal, so will be toying with the idea until the patch comes out. I’d hate to have to give up my Omnom Pie.

To save you time I tried a hybrid cond/prec/power build. It pales in comparison. The main problem with ranger conditions is that you have to be too close to apply them. Sb bleeds are totally negligible.
No matter which way you go, power or condition, u gotta go all the way otherwise u just wont have enough damage

Totally agree, when we talked about what I was doing with my build and I said I was still leaving some condition damage in my build and slowly adding power, the more I added power the better and more viable it got.
You either need to go all out power or all out condition damage. Some of this and some of that just doesn’t cut it.

Actually I’ve found that if I drop the Sigil of Fire and slot a Sigil of Blood and Omnomberry Pie with Empathic Bond it’s actually pretty effective, the trick is to stay on the offensive to keep both the pie and the sigil proc’ing as they will run independently of each other.
Mango Pie with SoW when you have low healing is pretty good as well with only 300 in healing that’s a 80 tick heal from SoW and another 80 tick heal from the pie., but much less offensive.
Condition damage is the only thing I fear though, if EB goes off then I’m fine, if I have to wait 10 seconds I could be in trouble.
I’ll mess with it any how, out of boredom. If I don’t, I’ll spend my gold on another toon, and another build. Earning gold for me is bad because I spend it on a new set of armor, to try out new builds.

Well it’s an entertaining video.
I’ve often thought about rolling a ranger but it always seemed like high dps builds weren’t in. That build looks like fun though.

Nerva what’s your guilds name, I’ve kept eye out for you but yet to find you..

Been playing more with this build and I must now agree that it kicks kitten for group engagements (defensive/offensive siege, small group roaming, etc). It has much more survivability than it initially seems. I literally doubled the # of bags I get during these types of engagements.
I swap out a few utilities and the heal (add healing springs for group field benefits sometimes) as needed. I do use a Pow/Prec/Tough weapon, though and it feel more sturdy without the zerker weapon, and very little drop in DPS.
Surprisingly, this is a great core build for solo roaming as well. All you need to do is swap a few major traits and I add in SoR for some condition removal. Nerva is right—because of the high DPS you don’t miss the healing, even against 2v1 (if you are good using the sword for evasion/defense). Then, when you meet up with your group, put things back according the core Nerva build.
I can’t tell you how many times I in the last few days I’ve had 1 or 2 enemies come running at me, thinking the ranger must be an easy kill, and I drop them fast or send them running.
Thanks for the build, Nerva!
This is almost the same as my build.. i also run Dagger, Axe and Torch in my off hand on my build as needed..
Generally use Horn as well in WvW

You find the torch is worth it in a power build? I just stick with the horn and dagger.
I’ve been playing around a bit with sword+axe.
My current thought process on #4 is it’s simply a bit more direct damage and a combo projectile
My current thought process on #5 is that, with 2 dogs, I have a good combo I can use.
Wolf Knockdown → swap to Krytan Hound → w/ Quickness and Krytan Hound using its knockdown, use OH Axe #5 (2.5 sec channel with quickness) → Use hound immobilize if you deem it necessary.
It works pretty well. OH Axe #5 is good damage and puts 12 stacks of vulnerability on the target so landing its full duration hurts.
Try your best to not make mistakes, but, when you do make mistakes, learn from them.
Better yourself.
I have been looking into moving from my beastmaster/condition/bunker build so I will try this build, thanks for posting.
Also a tip: I noticed that in a part of your video you where fighting 2 rangers or 3, they where standing still while you tried to out shoot them. Try moving very quickly left-to-right (without triggering roll dodge) and you will see their arrows miss a lot (keeping your distance helps more), your character however will continue to shoot at them without problems. Just to show those -stand still and shoot- rangers that they better know they’re not in pve anymore.

Unless they’re incredibly dense/stubborn (or they’re bots), figuring out that moving around/zig-zagging might keep you alive for at least a few more seconds versus standing still should be pretty much the first thing you learn upon setting foot in sPvP or WvW.
Then again, going up against Nerva/BSW on your first WvW outing would probably have about the same effect as an emasculation, and would probably send you running back to Lion’s Arch faster than Logan could to Jennah.

I’m getting pretty happy with my power/crit build in sPvP. With around 900 healing it’s still a great build 1v1.
Ikiro’s next video, he seems to have been banned from forum indefinitely. lol. Here you guys go enjoy! Bermier[BSW]

Any input on this build with new patch?
I think his reaction was “are you effing kidding me?” He will be taking a break from the ranger indefinitely.

I’ve been playing a variation of this build recently, and yeah… the nerf to quickness burns. This build still hits hard and all, but quickness was what gave it an edge when you needed to put a lot of pressure on someone/something fast, to either cause them to back off if not outright kill them. Now, though… I don’t even know what I’m going to do now.
Any more on this build from any one?
I’ll give it a try, I want to compare with my condition/BM build especially in WvW and dungeons

Any feedback?
Iv’e run this exact spec/nourishment combo for the past 4-5 months, except I am double bow, and use heal as one, since I’m not using sword for the spring.
I use a mix of cavaliers/soldier/knight and zerk. With food bufs I have just under 20k health, 45% crit, 75% crit dmg, 3000 armor and just above 3k attack.

hi,
do you mean LB/SB as your weapon set? If so, care to share a build link with your gears and traits info?
Thanks.
