WvW - SB + S/W - Crit/Bleed
Looks quite good! It’s not dissimilar to my sPvP build. I do have a few suggestions, though I like your “it’s just what works for me” attitude.
My healing power is much lower than yours; I don’t know how useful Signet of the Wild is with that much HP. Even so, I think you might be better off with replacing it with either Sharpening Stones or Spike Trap. You have high condition damage — either of these would allow you to capitalize on it. I personally swap out Muddy Terrain for Spike Trap for the same reason — you would miss out on MT’s immobilize, but the bleed damage is killer. It’s also much quicker to drop than Muddy Terrain — that 3/4 of a second is a lifetime when you’re under fire. Spike Trap can also be dropped preemptively, either when defending a specific point or waiting for a stealthed thief to reveal itself.
Ever consider Rune of the Undead instead of Dwayna if you switch away from Perplexity? Toughness is your highest stat, and your Condition Damage is very high as well. Dwayna does offer more survivability, but Undead does offer a little in its own right, and a lot more damage. It depends on if you feel like you need a little more aggressive oomph.
looks good, grats
You have huge survivability so I would suggest changing S / W to A / D for more bleeds & control.
Excellent. You would be a pain in the kitten to fight. Great job kiting. The only thing that I would have trouble with is no speed for roaming.
Very nice builds. Your LB + S/W – Condi/Crit build is identical to my bleeding hearts build in my signature.
I will be trying out your Power Tank build for sure.
The Never Ending Repertoire of Ranger Builds
Salt of the Earth {SALT} Crystal Desert© ~~Dragon Rank~~
interesting.. might try dagger instead of warhorn (for me)
Dude, I love you. I absolutely suck at ranger. I saw this thread and grabbed the first build, though I used different runes and rabid armor, cause I’m poor and can’t afford new armor. I just really wanted to not suck. Grabbed a party of like, 7 people and went around. It was absolutely incredible.
For once in my ranger career I felt as though I was contributing at least something. Also, you say this isn’t a great 1v1 build, but with this, I won most of my 1v1 fights. Only a tricky mesmer or theif could really get me down. It was unbelievable to me that I was actually getting kills, when all prior builds I tried landed me with a dirt nap. Thank you, thank you for this. I never got into huge zerg fights, but smaller, 4-10 man groups and 1v1s, this is pretty nice.

For those who don’t know all the acronyms in the game, it would be nice for everyone to spell out what S/W or A/D means…
Not everyone speaks acronym in the game – or in life.

I run builds just like these. Warhorn 5, Sword 2 and “about face” get you around pretty fast.
Muddy Terrain is the closest thing to talented Frost Trap with which I have more years of practice than I should.

Sword/Warhorn, Axe/Dagger. I looked them up in the secret book of Ranger acronyms.

Good stuff, I run a more pet focused variant if that build (0/30/20/0/20) so here’s my thoughts.
1) I can’t play without signet of the hunt. It makes kiting people SO much easier and it makes your pet much more threatening as he can actually catch your target.
2) Thought about rabid gear? It gives cond and crit so you’ll get even more sharpened edges/sigil bleeds. You are a little more glassy but it still gives toughness and synergises well with undead runes.
3) Sharpening stone, while annoyingly CD gated, gives you monster burst potential. Stacking 4 bleeds with one shot is frightening.
Other than that, i like.

Sword / Warhorn – Axe / Dagger.

Thank you everyone for the nice words. I’m glad to see people are either using similar builds or that this post has helped. =]

My Longbow + Sword/WH build that uses a variation of Carrion & Dire… very fun, very fragile. Stay in stealth alot of time.
