WvW roaming build critique needed
It isn’t necessary, but I don’t know how people roam without +25% movement speed! (Signet or Runes.)
This actually looks pretty solid. You’ve got a lot of anti-condition lined up, which is nice, you’re not going full glass, which is even better, because rangers suck at that. I predict you’ll do pretty well in 1v1 situations but I don’t feel like this is gonna have the staying power to ward off (or even escape from) two or three opponents.
I’d consider using one of our vigor traits. Vigor = dodges, dodges = protection. I personally don’t like Sigil of Rage, ‘cause the cooldown is just kinda long, but I can’t say that it’s a bad idea. Even with little investment into condition damage, I would consider a Sigil of Earth on your shortbow.
dodge gives you nearly 3 seconds of protection, and the high vigor uptime allows for permanent protection, unless ur afraid of being ganked by thieves, u don’t need that trait, which they will probably strip anyways… but yeah, this should work better for u

I believe that you need to make a decision, you either go for critical damage or for condition damage. It is very difficult to finally decide to go for one since there are a lot of good things in the ranger [if used right], for the most part I’ve gone with a build like this:
http://gw2skills.net/editor/?fNUQJATRjUqUwaFL+rw1ag9AZdgCRYfZUIXbLZFPB-T1CBABYcIAyR9nGuAATp8DgHAgHHBAV0E8g5Pu3fIDlg6pDIAACwO3ZAApAqSYE-w
It had amazing attack but little evasion and condition removal so when I met thieves, eles or necros they would shred me to pieces. In the end this build only worked in a full party where I can position myself at the back to take full advantage of the superior projectile distance. 1 v 1 – definite no.
Going back to your build, I noticed you have the Signet of Renewal. However your pet needs to be practically beside you for the signet to take effect. On your nature magic trait line you have the Strength of Spirit which increases your base attack. There is a reason why shortbow and sword have attacks that barely go further than 500. The reason is because the main utility of these weapons is to apply conditions. If you looks closely your shortbow will instantly apply a bleed if you are attacking from the back or from the side, it will apply poison, it has a daze, and also an evade. Likewise your sword has similar effects. I will definitely give you credit for the sword/dagger combo. I believe it is the best. My point is, try to exploit the condition damage of your weapons instead of trying to make them do things that they are not supposed to.
After the patch I made a new build, that is the one I run with now. In my opinion it has amazing condition removal and survivability. It focuses on condition damage [not duration] since I want to make the most condi-damage possible within the normal time frames set for the weapons and it has a LOT of evasion. If you get used to it you will feel that you fight like a thief because you will be moving all around the place, lol:
if you notice there a lot of ways for you to have regeneration so your health will stay up. A lot of dodge since your nourishment and trait amount to 65% endurance regeneration rate, plus you gain protection and might [increase in power and condi damage] when you doge. If you time if right you will be have at least 3 stacks of might when swapping pets since the effect lasts 19 sects and pet swap is about the same amount. The lightning reflexes is a life-saver plus every time you use it you remove two conditions from yourself. Additionally you are removing 3 conditions every 10 secs. And when activating your Elite Skill you will apply Torment Poison and Bleeding for 8 seconds.
I do not recommend the quickening zephyr since it cuts your healing to half and you will be regenerating health almost all the time. If you are cool with the normal moving speed then you may replace it with the muddy terrain to immobilize and then the Elite the muddy terrain will ensure that the Elite hits the mark.
I do understand that you build is in progress [hence the reason you need to hear other opinions] so I hope that after hearing our opinions you can update us with your revised build.
For me i was ranger full crit but now full condi i like it
Bearbow roaming alone?
For me i was ranger full crit but now full condi i like it
What’s your build? I am condi but I still die way too much…
I wouldn’t invest traits/sigils into bleeding with such low condition damage. Also, if you use sigil of strength on your shortbow, you could use Pet’s prowess and Companion’s might for some nice pet damage. I pair it with sigil of purity, and I use healing spring instead of TU. As a ranger you cannot have too much condi cleanse.
Here’s the build I run:

hah, not bad, I actually ran a very similar build
0/20/10/30/10
100% crit chance with full stacks
open with spider f2 immobilize, and cast muddy terrain right before it hits to make sure they can’t dodge the immobilize, swap pets, owl f2, (as its running over, this is the next part of the rotation), warhorn 5, warhorn 4, swap weapons, quickening zephyr, and 1111111111111111
