Your pet can survive Morderm Dark Wing
I usually use a drake in that fight and it survives the full attack, or if I have SoS available I pop it, so I rarely have my pet dead in that fight.
I never tried the F3 thing, I may try it someday but since I’m melee, most of the time I fight Troll in the south.
(and the other 8 elite specs maxed too)
I actually encountered the same thing. I used F3 and the pet took no damage, but I was unable to reproduce it since then. I’ll try spamming it next time since I usually park at north lane. Cheers for the info, mate!
Will update once Path of Fire releases.
I don’t think I’ve ever done this fight with my Ranger, but it seems to me that if you just switched pets and put them on passive (or used a ranged pet) while you were standing on the flower, your pet would also stay up there and survive.
Then again, that’s just theory. Now I kind of want to go test it…
We shouldn’t have to be doing anything more then any other player in that map. This is exactly the sort of damage that should be tagged- by a tag recognizable by ranger and necro pets as simply not existing. It’s not in the slightest bit fair that something that is supposed to represent a % of our damage thus making our damage numbers lowers without it on average is still being damaged by this crud at all- they should be as immune to one-shot boss mechanics as the weapons held by the other classes.
In other words- if you the player have moved your toon out of harms way for these special effect kills- then the pet should be too.
Recall should at the very least stow the pet for the time that the effect is happening.

That’s the first thing I tried, and the new pet appeared on the ground under the flower. I didn’t test it extensively so maybe there’s a way to get it to appear on the flower.
Anyhow, I tried it again using a single F3 instead of spamming it. Once time the pet survived, the other time the pet died. So I dunno – maybe the F3 only protects the pet for a short while?
Next I want to see if this is some undocumented protection-like feature of F3. Maybe you can use it to reduce damage the pet takes from other big attacks.
