ZERK DRUID / RANGER BUILD PvP/WvW
Kiting and bursting is such a fun play style.
Thanks for the vid. Good stuff.
See you in Tyria.

Yea sure no problem!
Why did you include it as WvW? Just wondering.
For WvW I actually run similar Druid and Wilderness traits. However, I run Beast mastery instead for companions might, natural healing, and beastly warden.
Ascended celestial armor with superior rune of durability and berserker accessories. Seems to work with me but does limit my options for escape. So I try and initiate the fight while roaming.
Johnny Johnny – Ranger (Ehmry Bay)
Hárvey Wallbanger – Alt Warrior (Ehmry Bay)
I’m guessing the Armor is also full berserker?
I’m also curious about why you took Leeching over Blood (which can kinda replace fire when not dealing with needing to AoE I guess) or Intelligence (If you’ve got full Zerk, I guess you’ll have enough crit) /Hydromancy?

When your stealth and u swap to your gs you do damage and it breaks you out….with leaching u get some healing damage and 100% stealth burst on GS!
Refined Toxins… As a full Berserker? Instead of Shared Anguish? In this meta of massive cleanse? That makes any use only if you are above 90% (which you aren’t if you hit 3 targets with retaliation and that you will since Lead the Wind)
Without any source of stability whatsoever?
For GS combo suggesting to use Hilt Bash, autoattack and then Maul? (that was proposed… To daze/stun the target, root him in place so your #2 and #3 hits)
The demonstration used the same sequence, that was no mistake if anyone thinks he meant something else.
No no no no… There must be something wrong here. There’s nothing about common sense here.
I’ve won games with wrong pets in diamond (ice owl + ice wolf from role-playing); I also once had a wrong secondary weapon equipped. I don’t really think the build is what carried you to Legendary. That was a skill issue. The build has a huge lot of flaws.

I didn’t see Refined Toxins over Shared Anguish in his build link…(though it was in the video)
I guess he didn’t want Stability since his three utilities (link, two from vid so long as Druid’s up, anyway) are already able to stun-break (though that brings up the question of breaking stun vs preventing it).? Idk.
The build has enough Condi clear with Anguish, WK, and Clarity I guess.
I really want to run full Zerk, but I’m partial to Soldier’s additional Tough/Vit (and using Int Sigil on GS to help a little with crit bursts.) Seeing that its possible to still survive well enough while being full glass is changing my mind, though.

i ran this build last night as a test with a few slight modifications and i must say i enjoyed it.
The only thing i dont like as a Ranger is EVER having to swap to a melee weapon… its just not what i want to do on the class. If i wanted to melee GS id play another class. Now i know all classes can do similar things but still… i feel like when we resort to that we give up our greatest strength and it usually doesn’t end well.
So i wonder… how might this work particular build work with LB/Staff?
We give up the GS 5 daze but pick up immob+cleanse on the staff 4. We gain mobility with staff 3 as a heal and escape (plus blast). we can better negate ranged attacks with staff 5 to gain heath as opposed to knockback on GS4. Plus we gain faster access to CA using staff
Thoughts?
When comparing Staff to GS…
You trade a Water Field and Projectile Destroy (the heal isn’t noticeable at all and you usually miss it since the water drops are slow) for a CC, Evades and burst.
I wouldn’t think twice.
1st of all – Range is not our advantage. The abuse of the range Difference is our advantage. We can start on range – then burst someone in melee and keep switching between these two stances whenever we feel like making the enemy on their toes.
Of course it is impractical at sPvP where all you need to do is to stand in the middle of the action which Ranger cannot afford…… But hey. It can work in solo queue.
When you are glass cannon – you do not want to throw all that amazing stuff (like burst) for simple utility. That’s disgraceful.

While in terms of pure math you are correct, obviously, my observations suggest there is more to consider. In order to get off that burst you must by definition stand in the fire so to speak, and as you say, thats not where we want to be. I feel as though maybe thats time better spent getting out of the fire and setting up more burst from the bow and staying alive.
Yes, we have a CC there, but they have breakers and CC of thier own to keep us there.
I think it comes down to play style. Pure math you are dead right, no question, but if you talk the reality of actual gameplay into account im not so sure. Perhaps i just got lucky or faced people that were used to everyone just standing around and didnt know how to deal with my movement but i felt like it worked fairly well.
Just my 2 cents.. which is likely all its worth.

I’d actually call it a matter of game-style.
All of us have different ways to play that we enjoy. I – for example – have always loved the dual-target (pet) playstyle being able to counter my enemy.
I am one of those who knows better than anyone that if you enjoy playing something – you’ll do anything to make it work and push that game-play into being useful.
I’ve tried and tested this build a little over a month with slight modifications both in pvp and wvw. I’ve found Tides to just be way more useful over muddy/equality and shared anguish is a must as well. In wvw I run a straight zerk and a zerk/calv mix and its also effective. It’s a solid setup for kiting on a burst based ranger.
I Play WvW to have fun. I don’t find it fun anymore. Therefore I don’t play.
