As the title says^ my favorite 2 weapons on ranger. Really hate playing any melee as ranger, it just doesn’t feel right to me nor does it feel like in playing a ranger. Anyways I’m not looking into raiding but fractals, WvW, World Bosses, events, etc. I found out today that zealot’s stats carry Power, Precision, and healing power and thought this would be perfect since I’m more on the side of power LB ranger but still want the staff to be there for mobility and average healing/support. Would making Zealot’s armor be worth it?

For open world and low level fractals, sure, anything (and even nothing) can work in open world. For high level fractals, it’s more about how familiar you are with the mechanics than your build. For wvw, unless you’re very skilled, you will get eaten alive with zealots.

I have a full set of Zealots for my Ranger and you REALLY notice the damage difference when you swap to it from Zerker, but I also really notice the damage increase when I use the Zealots over Magi and not necessarily notice better healing, because generally the Magi over-heals, when druid healing.

Compared to Zerk/scholar, if you just make the armor with healing power runes, you will lose; 175 power, 27% crit damage and 10% damage while above 90% health. You will gain 490 healing power and whatever other rune effects you choose. Significant damage loss and also sustain increase. 490 Healing is probably as much as you need for WvW unless you want to be very bunker, but your trinkets and weapons will need to be other stats, having no additional vitality or toughness will make it quite difficult.

You can pretty much run Zerker for all PvE, unless you want to druid heal, but I like to use my Zealots set for events because the additional damage is tiny when you have 20 people in zerker gear attacking something but the heals do keep peoples scholar rune bonus up, plus heals keep them alive to do damage and you are buffing them significantly.

For WvW, I use either a full Nomad bunker for frontline healing, LB-Sw/WH roaming Druid or my fav, Dual Melee Remorseless, but that’s kinda out of favor now due to the amount of condi around and the nerf(s) to SotP, but it’s very fun and tanky.

I do use my zealots for LS chapters and new content, to err on the side of caution with stuff like this because it’s got awesome sustain and damage for anything semi challenging solo wise, well it’s just easy to play.

If you decide to go with some zealots, make sure you take advantage of the healing power. SotW generates AF (+90hp/s) and the active will help compensate for your damage loss, the water runes give 20% boons + with 490 healing power the (6) bonus is an additional 1000 heal on heal skill use, which turns WHaO into a 10.4k heal, plus the regen is 200/s instead of 130/s so have regen sources which also help with AF generation, life steal food is also good for that.

All said, personally I really like Zealots, and I think you will too, judging by your stated play style and desire for average healing/support. Just don’t bother with exotic if you are crafting it. You could always go for some Zealots HoT trinkets too, that would be the cheapest option to add some Healing Power without sacrificing too much damage.
