Zephyr’s Speed nerf :(
Same procedure as always.
This wasn’t even a bug, it never had an intended icd unlike Clarion Bond. It’s a straight up nerf.
This change breaks the trait. While it’s fine for “business as usual” pet swaps (16 second CD, 15 second ICD) the change now makes it VERY easy for your Zephyr’s Speed to be wasted when you didn’t want it to be used. Anything that forces a state change on you will automatically stow your pet and force the trait into an ICD whether you wanted to use it or not.
The VERY lengthy list of things that will do this include ANY transformation (moa signet, tonics, any event based transform, etc), entering/leaving water (will activate your aquatic/terrestrial pet), boss mechanics like the Legendary Archdiviner’s stun (cliffside fractal) or the Mordrem Mangler’s captivate ability (Vinewrath Assault 2nd boss.)
It’s a terrible change and completely misses the point of including an ICD. a mere 5 second ICD would have fixed the issue of people quickness stacking with no CD transform tonics without messing with the functionality of the trait.
Once again, Anet proves they need to probably triple the size of their balance team so stupid mistakes like this don’t continue to happen.
Valderius Rex, true, and I didn’t even think about that. The devs really got to step up their game. Like, really, they have to.

Yea, this trait has been this way since launch. Well, zephyr’s speed used to be the minor adept trait in BM before it was moved to grandmaster and it’s quickness was increased to 3 seconds instead of 2. That was a big nerf back when it first happened and really shut down zerk ranger for awhile, as they only needed to trait five points into BM to get on demand quickness. But now that the trait is seeing play again, of course it gets nerfed once more.

It’s seeing use again because it’s a good trait (it always has been). I highly doubt the trait is going to no longer be used because you can no longer use it for the gimmicky quickness opener, it’s not like you can’t just swap your pet at the start of the fight if you wanted to have it right then for bursting someone down.
As their mother, I have to grant them their wish. – Forever Fyonna
Sooo…. Why not prevent in-combat tonic use?
Or better yet, differentiate STOW and SWAP so the game won’t think that I swapped a pet because someone shot me in the back and then cause ALL of my on-swap trait to go on cooldown and get them wasted.
Wow lol guys. I’ve had a lot of fun with the no ICD gimmicks, but a bug fix is a bug fix. As much as I hate how rangers balanced sometimes, this bug fix won’t break your builds unless you’re planning to exploit 24/7.
Anet logic:
Anything that benefit rangers got fixed in light speed.
Anything that hurt rangers is working as intended.
They do but they will not. We all know the vast amount of bugs on the ranger and none have been fixed.
So, here comes the defenders of a “bug”-fix that wasn’t even a bug until just now. Classic.
Anet is gonna be Anet.
Don’t know what’s more sad. A"bug" that’s being fixed after almost 3 years since launch.
Or the fact that they’re still not playing their own game and trying to balance by looking at some algo.
People exploit a trait with no ICD then complain it’s broken when the devs put an ICD to stop the exploiting….craziness.

LOL, funny thing is:
1. It’s there since launch. 3 years later suddenly claimed it’s an exploit?
2. It cannot really use in PVP anyway aside from the initial encounter in which you stow your pet.
Another ignorant ranger hater..
This is not that ANet does not want stow to be able to proc on-swap mechanics, because it will still be able to, you just will not be able to swap immediately after entering combat to get twice the benefit immediately. I see nothing wrong with this.
The real issue is;

I think, though, that even kitten ICD can be abused by un-stowing/swap on entering combat, because of boon duration, you can still do the same thing if you wanted to.
The issue is that ANet just threw an ICD on a trait that did not warrant it, rather than differentiate between activation from stowing and swapping pets while in combat. It is a LearnTo Code issue I’m afraid and it has added yet another disadvantageous bug to Ranger.
Other than exiting / entering water, I do not see the issue here. So people wanted to start fights with their pet stowed and then swap right away for double benefit? That seems more laborious than effective.
It is true that Anet focuses on the niche stuff though. We have pets doing half damage and OH weapons going half distance, but nope…let’s go after this one.
They nerf rangers when as most it could be trigger twice. While warrior can use bundles to stack 25 might in seconds. This is f-up. Guess they only care about pvp where bundles can’t be use. Oh wait they still have banner which count as a bundle.
everyone should fear becoming mentally clouded and obsessed with one small section of truth.

No, you’re right. I am a hater of ignorant rangers. As a ranger main I know the only thing this affects is people abusing how pet stow stupidly acts like swap. While I’m sure changing pet stow mechanic would be nice, but more time consuming…this ICD accomplishes the same goal of stopping people from doing it and gets 2x the quickness. If you think the trait can’t be used in PVP you’re just not doing it right. Quickness 1/5 of a fight is good no matter what you’re doing. The trait is still ridiculously powerful as it has been in the past. The only difference is now we can get 3 GM and Beastmastery was reworked to be more viable in builds.
