Zerker or Condi for PVE
I won’t go into specifics. It would suck up a lot of wall-like space.
Tyria, Dungeons, Raids, Fractals up to lvl 35 → Berserker
Maguuma, Fractals higher than 35 → Viper
(Sinister is outdated)
If you want to know why, feel free to PM me or find me in-game anytime.
Long Story Short – efficiency of Condi vs. Toughness scaling.
For open world there isn’t a really good reason to craft viper or sinister. They’re expensive, and bonfire is awkward/ineffective on moving enemies. If you want a for funsies condi set, I’d go with rabid dungeon armor.
other than high level fractals I feel that zerker is more versatile, ranger condi has issues with moving targets. anything can be used in pve though.
Just stick to your ascended Berserker’s gear. As others have said, it has trouble with moving targets, which is most enemies in the new areas. Regardless, craft yourself an exotic set if you have spare coin and curiosity for it and carry both sets in your bags.
Will update once Path of Fire releases.
Ok, thanks alot for the advise. I will keep my Berserker´s gear then :-)

+1
If you want to try a condi build (and I suggest you do, they’re seriously fun to play), take fluffball’s advice above and get an exotic set. You may just be surprised.
Thanks, guess i give it a try. With exotic set, do you mean just armor and weapons or trinkets too and what Build do you recommend?

Yep, exotic for weapons and armor; if you have a surplus of laurels you could go with ascended trinkets, or otherwise exotics there, too.
I’ve been playing with a variant of this build, and it’s quite fun:

Actually, if you are short on gold – the best way is to get accessory from Season 2 achievements. It will take some time but you’ll get sinisters for free.
Condi (with condi duration!) is the superior choice, albeit more risky (condi weapons aren’t 1.5k range safe pew pew). Viper is the dps hybrid choice with risks, trailblazer’s if you want to go condi with solid defense to boot.
Here’s why condi rocks for ranger:
1. Ranger is swimming in cripples, immobilizes and a bit of chilling. These are extremely efficient for controlling majority of modrem mobs. With condi gear you can get extra duration on these – very useful!
2. Ranger has great condi burst. Forget hour long condition applications like on necro. With ranger condi burst damage can match or even outshine direct burst damage.
3. Ranger sucks for direct aoe damage. Condition damage on the other hand is much closer to home, with traps, entangle, torch’s bonfire and axe’s splitblade.
4. Getting shaman’s or settler’s gear for condi druid is a cinch. Zealot’s for power druid will be quite the climb…
@ZeftheWicked
Quite right. But don’t you forget Entangle. That’s where magic happens.
To address 4. – Zealot is not really needed. You are able to heal people up with berserker gear without problems. If they aren’t bad, of course. If they are, you might as well get Cleric. Babysitting cannot be done easier than with that set of armor. One just have to make sure he won’t get past tanks toughness.
I tried it and it is working very well. But now i dont know what to do with my Ascended Berserker Armor. Should i change it to Viper or to something else. And can i change it anyway as described in the wiki. Because its not listed on this page:

Don’t do anything with your berserker armor, it’s the better armor in 99% of the game (including WvW). Just hold on to it unless ranger isn’t your main and you only want to play condi from now on.

you would change it according to this recipe, it’s in the section titled “Ascended equipment prefix change”:
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Mystic_Forge#Equipment
Viper’s would be the best choice and sinister for trinkets. sinister trinkets can only be acquired through LS2 achievements so far. For vipers insignia you need to purchase the recipe from a HoT vendor. Sinister can still work for gear it’s just not the “best” choice although it’s a kitteneaper to craft. the only thing you must have ascended for is fractals since you must have agony resist and I would recommend switching to vipers for high level fractals as mobs have a lot of toughness the higher you go.
Never change your Berserker Armor.
… That’s a good advice.

You should keep your zerker armor and make a complete new set for condition. And a third healing set isn’t that bad of an idea.
It’s always good to keep your options open.
Actually my Ranger is my Main but ok, a new Condi Set then. Thats going to be expensive.^^
But thanks alot for all your good advice, was a huge help :-)
If you really want ascended for open world, and I don’t see any reason to do that, you can make the cheapest set of ascended armor (cleric’s or something? I don’t know, check the prices) and then convert it in the MF. And yes, the conversion does work, you asked about that earlier. Although ascended viper’s isn’t as kittenome people make it out to be if you enjoy playing the new maps. I have to delete the new ascended mats because I have too many of them, since I wanted to get all my elite specs unlocked and played a lot of the new maps. If you don’t play the new maps a lot, you’ve got a ton of work to unlock the recipes and ascended mats.
I still think some “free” rabid or carrion dungeon or karma armor would be the way to go for a fun condi set.
