alpha Strike
This was the only elite skill rangers had during Alpha, but it was removed, along with choosing which 4 skills each pet can use, pet evolutions, and a few other things I wish they kept =(

just found out that we had feral signet too that improved pet dmg, was wondering where our dmg signet went since every other class has a signet that contributes to dmg somehow
We had pet evolutions and a customisable pet bar? Why did they take that away!? Reading stuff like that is utterly infuriating. Pull your finger out Anet and give this class some love already.

I understand the customizable pet bar because you’d get A LOT of bars that flat out wouldn’t work, or be really OP etc, but the evolutions being removed was baseless from what I could see, it’d allow more diversity like allowing DPS bears/moas, tank cats etc. I still wish we had customizable pet bars to -some- degree, maybe even just a 4 option per slot thing (condi dmg, direct dmg, support, control) they could easily balance that, or just tie it into an evolution system, because I know I’d like to be able to my Moa for my DPS like in GW1, but that won’t happen anytime soon!!

We also had Comfort Animal which was a 45s CD, 1/4s cast time and would reset pet swap CD, Rez pet/heal to full, and remove all condis on your pet.

simply infuriating, at this point i think its only fair we infiltrate Anet hq an steal their omnomberry bars

I vote we release all the zoo animals in Washington into their HQ to show how viable Alpha Strike really is xD.

It would have been to challenging for your “average consumer”, same as with any complexity/depth in this game…

Honestly? They removed all that? All of it sounds incredible.

Honestly? They removed all that? All of it sounds incredible.
I’m beginning to lose what little faith I still have in Anet.
No kidding. I was hoping they would put in some pet customization eventually (within a year or 2 at their rate), but to know that’s already in the past is hard to believe.
It’s probably removed for the same reason why we can’t name our pets properly: data size. Not a good enough reason for me. I need to be able to disable pet skills and set them at different priorities, but it sounds like I can completely forget about that if it didn’t even get through alpha.

Well, I doubt it’s data size in guessin it’s due to balancing, the previous system was each family (wolf, cat, bear, boar etc) had a huge list of skills to choose from, and then each species (snow wolf, normal wolf, fern wolf etc) had a few skills only they could use, you could then pick any combo of those for your pets skills.
I’m hoping that they’ll get evolutions in eventually seeing as it was pretty big in GW1 and hope that the evolutions provide skill changes to give us more variety, I can’t remember all the details on the evolution system, it had to do with stat alterations (IE you could have a tank or DPS or condi bear etc).

The evolutions were hearty, elder, and dire. These titles related to tank, balanced, and glass respectively.

You forgot playful and aggressive, I personally used an aggressive pet in GW1 because he actually had a healthbar and still did a lot of damage xD.
