You know, the nerf to make shortbow 900 range down from 1200 was originally because they wanted Longbow to have the 1200 niche, but that’s not even a thing anymore since Longbow is being made into 1500 range baseline.

not much. I was hoping SB would get that +10% damage and condi duration as well as LOYF being moved down from GM. this didn’t happen, so it’s likely SB is being left in the dust again.
that being said, i’ll have to do some testing on stacking poison damage. because if poison volley scales well with condition damage, it could essentially be a condi nuke. SB would also synergize very nicely with traps, which will be quite strong.
quickdraw seems very strong and im not sure how I feel about LOYF competing with it. it seems like a no-brainer to pick quickdraw.
But bearbow got buffed though…

You loose basicly all the damge output modifiers with WS-NM-BM
BM with the changes in pets traits looks new. I’m afraid the pets will still soak in AoE and die almost as soon as you send them to attack.
I think your theorycrafting is faulty because an unjustified optimism that is not realistic.
We need still to see the exact numbers but if they are like we have now, all that regen and such is going to be just testimonial.
But let’s imagine you are rigth. Does it mean i’ll have only one available build to play with? bunker-BM? no variety?
I foresee we sill be the outcast of all the professions the pariah of Gw2.

The changes to Light on your Feet is horrible. The shortbow rewards you for moving around and then they REMOVE that part of the SB trait and introduce some stupid damage buff tied to dodging.
The overall changes are okay for the most part, but kitten, some of these changes to previously proposed traits are just laughable.

Yeah, the shortbow changes went from decent to garbage. Not sure who thought 5% condition duration for 4sec after dodging would be of any use when Engineers receive a trait that allows +50% condition duration for pistol skills without needing to proc for it.
I want to say this was a “best-case scenario” oversight, but when Engineer’s (apologies to drag the class into this) auto attack on pistol can synergize with multiple explosion traits, including Shrapnel – Ranger shortbow pales far in comparison, even if we did take Sharpened Edges and Hidden Barbs (which Engineers get similar traits as minors), and use something like Krait Runes.
Will update once Path of Fire releases.

best case scenario: Poison Volley is amazing, people use SB, LOYF never sees any play
worst case scenario: Poison Volley is underwhelming, SB and LOYF never see any play.
conclusion: a bunch of GM’s flopped hard, SB may remain unused.
Poison Volley aside, I feel Hidden Barbs and Sharpened Edges should be merged. Seems like a waste of a trait slots when every other class has similar traits as minors.

He was talking about a build for 1v1, and he’s right. Bnker/BM/condi Will be super strong. And no, it wont be the only good build out there . LB power build will still be a thing, melee builds are getting some nice buffs with fury-remorslees synergie.
We’ll have to c how the new traps and spirits are working out.

Gotta agree, that ones a weird change. Even if it stacks, that’s both your dodge rolls for 10% damage for 4 seconds? Or will it include sources like Lightning Reflexes or SB3?
I mean the way the function reads is interesting, but will it really work like that?
Say I’ve applied 3s of bleeding and then dodge with this trait after the fact at some point before the 3s are up, will it add the .15% retroactively?
I don’t know what to make of that one. On paper it seems really bad.
I can understand them changing the 10% boost from just moving around, that condition is a little too easy to meet.
But conversely this new condition doesn’t reward you enough for what it costs (a dodge roll, possibly your evasive skills and utilities).
I feel the damage modifier needs to be bigger and/or the duration longer.
Light on Your Feet; Your Shortbow attacks deal 5% more damage, have 20% condition duration and recharge 20% faster.
No conditional crap tyvm.

I was really happy about all of the changes, so I can’t understand why people keep boo-hooing about “zomgrangerworstclass” but i will say I was sad SB got no love this pass. Maybe they will take another look at it in the future, but I think for this balance patch they aren’t touching it. That’s sad because I really hate being stuck with LB as the best viable ranged weapon

Yeah and the synergie with the flanking to apply bleed would be better. Or maybe a double the range of your dodge when wielding a SB haha.
should work on evade. That way you could at least get the bonus from LR, #3, and dodge rolls.
+ 10% endurance regen on top of that would be nice too
LoYF should be reverted to what was shown before, it promoted movement on a movement oriented weapon.
Adding in a second or two of super speed on evade while using SB would make it better.
It’s nowhere near GM worthy at the moment.
The SB itself could use a little love too.
LoYF; “You move 25% faster while wielding a Short Bow, Short Bow attacks restore 3 endurance.”

I think they reverted LOYF because SB was actually too strong in testing. that’s my feeling. but I still have to see how strong poison dps is.

I feel like S/D + SB is now a powerful condi set-up with lots of evade! Aka the real condi thief!
I was thinking something like that, with 2 traps, TU, LR and Entangle (with WK). Strider’s Defense is master now, so we can get the sword CD reduction, traited traps and quickdraw. other alternative is axe/dagger/sb, which would give us quite a bit more damage, but less survivability. SB BM/trapper is probably the first build i’ll play around with.
I use my Shortbow for Poison to reduce heals, Bleeds (AA) to reduce the chance that the Poison is cured, 3 to dodge attacks, and Cripple / Stun for my pet + interrupts.
If anything, the Stun Duration got increased, bleed and poison got buffed, and I continue on my merry way…

Hi, If you use poison only for the debuff and bleeds only for condi cover than you got nerfed. Poison volly now stacks in intesity, its only 4 sec poison duration up from possible 10 sec. Also, base condi dmage is much lower now so without like 600 condi damage, your bleeds doing almost nothing. Basicly condis got buffed only for condi builds, if u used to rune power build with SB it got nerfed. And stun duration is the same as before.

Actually, the Marksmanship Line is gaining Moment of Clarity as a Master which used to be a Skirmishing GM Trait. This allows you to have both synergistic GM Traits in a single trait line. Paralyzation (33% longer stun) and Impact (10% additional damage VS stunned) Sigils, you’re set.

Sounds like alot of investmnet for 2(sec) stun/daze, every 20sec(if traited) but, atleast Predator’s Onslaught working also with immob/cripple so you might make it work.
