does anyone know how to catch a black widow without going into the hall of monuments? I don’t have the eye of the north expansion

Outside of PvP the blackwidow spider is only available through the hall of monuments. You can get the jungle spider in a bunch of places though, it is the same pet just with a different skin.

Unless you really want the skin, you can get the Toxic Spider Queen Mini. But yeah, it is mini. haha

Someone correct me if I’m wrong but I’m pretty sure all pets are unlocked for PvP including the HoM pets, whether you unlocked all of the GW1 rewards or not. I’ll double check on my alt account later.

But they are only unlocked while you are in PvP, you can’t take them into PvE or WvW.

Edit: I went ahead and double checked. Anyone can use them in PvP, you need EotM and a certain number of reward points to unlock them for the other game modes.

While I can see the desire to aquire it to fill out your pet collection, and the look, in functionality though, it is exactly the same as the jungle spider.

It’s actually a functional advantage, at least in PvE and WvW. The Black Widow and Jungle Spider have identical skills, but you can only bring one Jungle Spider. If you want two spiders with F2 immobilises you can bring both a Jungle Spider and a Black Widow Spider. This is the same for the other pets with HoM duplicates.

They share a cd so if you use F2 and swap it will still be on cooldown. It isn’t a P2W situation.
