Not bad… other condition builds will eat you up though. Reason is you are not using EB and instead using Poison master – the signet will not be enough.

Also you can forget about traps use a torch offhand for burning take out the points in skirmishing put them in nature magic – more health and possibly traiting for regen – but then I would build with settlers/shaman/celestial for the the healing power. This also opens up TU which is a superior heal to the spring. I hate the spring – it requires you to stay in it to reap the full benefits. Staying in a circle for 20 seconds usually leads to death

thanks!

i am new to a ranger

the main idea is to stack fast up to 20 stacks of bleeding covered with few more conditions like vulnerability, poison, chill, burning so the enemy wont have time to react

work nice 1v1 against condi engi, thief and mesmer

my main problem are d/x thieves stealth game and meditation guardian

and i cant handle 1v2

do ranger even can handle 1v2?

As Narkodx said, you should use Empathic Bond if you want to stand a chance against condi specs. Signet of Renewel is really good but not enough.

About healing spring, its the best healing the class has for tpvp since it covers a whole point by itself, helps the team alot using their blast finishers and the condi cleanse. But in wvw where you have to constantly move, I prefer Troll Unguent by alot.

By the way you should never be able to 1v2 unless your ennemies are really bad.

I too run poison master and do not run EB, or Signet of Renewal (gasp!). This is mostly due to running a beastmaster spec, and condi-bombing my pet is just ridiculous. I basically run runes of antitoxin and high vitality. Really have no issues with conditions, as antitoxin + food means -50%+ base duration on me.

Anyway, I think my build is 0/2/6/0/6. Sword + Torch and Axe + Dagger. Raven and Wolf.

I think you could get away with that build if you ran anti-condi food and/or runes and/or sigils. I don’t have much experience with that, but the high number of evades and pretty high pressure you put out should make that viable in my estimate. You have a high crit chance so generosity could come in to play.

HS and SoR are really not very far off EB, and in fact have a couple advantages over EB.

Your vitality is awfully low though.

Edit: Oh one other thing, the HS vs TU debate, you need to use sword 2 as a leap finisher in the water field or HS is not good at all. The leap and blast finishers are what bring HS back up to par with TU in terms of healing power, and then HS takes the lead due to condi removal. Unfortunately you only have 1 leap and no blast finishers. Could be very handy if you travel with a friend though.

thanks guys

as for now this build is fun and good 1v1 with the high pressure
against condi spec i didnt have much trouble so far as my pets give me the ability to even more pressure while i am AA with bleeds stacks

but i see what you saying so i switch to this build
more vitality more conditions cleanse les bleed pressure (i tried EB but didnt see much difference)

but again 1v2 is so hard. even i manage to take 1 down the other one is hard to pressure meanwhile (i used to play thief so 1vX is basic)

Messiah on the Ranger forums… I’m so happy… Hello I’d help you in game but I am on holiday at the moment, I just couldn’t resist replying to you so I logged in :P

The above posters aren’t wrong and you seem to have picked up already of the differences between a trap build and a SotF build… Clearly the latter is a more defensive setup with more condition removal and health, with traps having more AoE and condition output.

You know I like to play traps so I am somewhat biased.. I’ve tried SotF conditions builds quite a lot recently (largely out of curiosity about how such a build with Lyssa Runes + updated Entangle will go) and have consistently found them lacking. They lack the pressure and offensive power of a trap build, and then lack the raw survivability of a regen bunker, and I don’t find the middle ground to be particularly effective (or fun, but that probably just me).

If I were you I’d either go back to traps (perhaps with EB on Poison master, and I agree TU is better than HS), or go for a Regen Bunker. If you want to 1vX then the latter really is your best option as a ranger, but honestly since rangers can neither spike down bad players instantly like a thief, nor stealth and avoid damage from 20 people just the same as if it was 1 person like a thief, it’s never going to be the same experience.
