there could be at least a 4 second delay, that would be slower.

That’s a work-around. If my pet swap is on CD I shouldn’t have to just live with my pet eating a spike. Especially since a lot of Rangers use pet swap almost on cooldown to keep up Quickness trait.
I do agree that F2 responsiveness needs to be addressed. F2 should interupt the pet’s current action and immediately cast.

For the fight wil LT. Kolher if you just simply swap pets his pull will just pull your new pet and it will die.
The tactics I use are as followed.
1. Dodge roll to save yourself. In my case this provide protection for 2 second for my pet (if you have bark skin this also helps I dont) and I. Your pet should be very low on life. You then swap your pet immediatly after the dogde to avoid his follow-up combo.
2. stay near one of the pillars, hallways or one of the stairs leading down (you can simply fight on the steps leading down to the water). When he does the warning animation step behind wall, into hallway or further down the steps. Then swap your pet. The pull will be blocked by the walls or the ground. Note he can pull through some of the colums if enough of you isn’t behind it. If not far enough down the step his pull will grab you but the ground will stop part of the pull you will take some damage but you but you and your pet should remain alive.
Signet of stone can help if swap it on cooldown. Its only really worth it your traited to share signet effects with your pet. It has save some groups from a complete wipe.
On a side note just a bit down the step is a great place to but spirits. Its close to the combat and not as likely to die from attacks. Ya I know almost no one uses spirits. But placement is key.

i’m trying different tactics, but i still feel like i’m fighting a broken mechanic. coming from a MMO where it wasn’t worth killing the pet to this game, where pets die when farted at is a huge change.

i should also mention that even if the pet comes back in time, it often still gets hit because it strays so far from you. this is especially noticeable in cramped areas.
All I do with Kholer is let him pull then swap my pet after his pull. Though if you are half paying attention both you and your pet will end up pulled.
I’ve been thinking of the solution to the pet dying problem.
It is to give pets endurance just like players and make them evade attacks for about 1.5 sec when getting recalled. This would burn half the endurance just like normal dodging. Also making them unable to attack during the evasion will balance out the fact of invincible pets.
