hey guys, title. i run full asc condidruid (viper + sinister). it’s a lot of fun for me and i can prevail a lot of fights, but there are three professions i am quite helpless against:

1. chronomancers – they just bring me down really fast or escape the fight in a manner i cant follow them up. i got one down yesterday but he magically came up somehow and was back in the fight like nothing ever happened.

2. dragonhunters: i got smashed with “true shot” for about 10k. isn’t this supposed to be an elite skill or something? not available every 4 seconds?

3. scrapper engineer: i met one today, he got a very tanky hard hitting pet- which btw when dead was brought up in a very short time again- and which stomped me? really? he stood far away, his strange pet stomped me and i could not do nothing against it.

is it a l2p issue here? or are those 3 a bit op in relation to condidruid?
if it is a l2p issue i would be very thankful for some help as in tipps how i could do better.

edit: and reapers i met two which like hit me so fast and so hard, that i could not even press a skill.

Sinister and viper aren’t that great in WvW. You get all of the downsides of full glass, but condi rangers don’t get much of their damage from power and condi duration is often cut short by the opponents. If you used exotic dire or apothecary with your ascended trinkets, you’ll notice a massive uptick in your survivabilty and yet you’ll be able to spike just as hard as viper’s.

Fluffy option is a good choice, also you can try using Celestial Trinkets as with you vipers armor.

It kind of depends on the build that you are running. I run Vipers/Sinister shortbow/staff and it works for me.

Some of you problems with scrapper might require some practices, i got reket by them a few times untill i got used to fighting them, dragon hunters also require practice but then they are quite easy I was luckly enough that a guildy dueled me for about 2 hrs straight so i got a good chance to understand them.

Rabid plus accessory stats to meet your comfort requirements. I’ve used celestial, healing, and also condition, healing, and toughness. I’ve since switched to ascended celestial across the board and use accessories as needed.

Just depends on the build and who you run with.

Main – Laaz Rocket – Guardian (Ehmry Bay)
Johnny Johnny – Ranger (Ehmry Bay)
Hárvey Wallbanger – Alt Warrior (Ehmry Bay)

The reason you are dying is not limited to your glass stats, you have to skirmish. Many people are built to get into the face of other people and cc them to death + high burst. The reason this is, there are a lot of baddies in wvw and its “economical” to overwhelm with an opener winning 90% of the time and losing only 10% of the time to solid players. Arbitrary numbers on my part but its probably not far off from accurate.

TBH, you’re at a disadvantage in melee against DH, Scrapper, and Reaper. Reaper is King Condi at the moment so any condi you apply will only hurt you since they’ll just send it back and Chrono has best burst/condi application in the game in my opinion. It isn’t necessarily a L2P issue but like Fluffy suggested, mix your gear to ensure that you have the best chances of winning. Most roaming builds rely on consistent damage with good defense to win unless you’re playing a full 1-2 shot burst that can get away quickly if you burn your CDs.

Against DH, if they are burst, their self condi clear will depend on a few skills only and you can reapply faster than they can clear. You just need to kite well enough and watch for True Shot. I’ve also noticed that playing BM with the taunt skill will annoy them to no end and you’ll interrupt a lot.

Reaper is all about immob. Poor mobility so just kite them to hell and back.

Scrapper, very tough fight because they’ve got a lot of tankiness with lots of raw DPS and stuns. Hard to kite because they have swiftness up-time and stealth application up the kitten . keep in mind this is only for engi mains that solo or duo roam only though. Most non mains and zerglings are learning the class and are relatively easy to take down.

I don’t play condi much anymore but when i do I usually still get on apothecary gear with dire/rabid ascended trinkets and s/d and a/t combo.

I Cha Cha I – Mediocre Ranger at best
Mao Xiong – Worst Warrior GW2
