hello there guys
im about to capp my 1st ranger and i have no clue which set i should make first
i have enough gold for one set
i need to work in open world and fractals
should i just make a zerk set? anything else?
once ill complete the 1st set ill start working on a raiding set,what should it be?

I would recommend getting full zerkers (exotic). Then start working towards ascended gear (full zerkers or full vipers). These 2 sets are what people are running in dungeons and fractals.

I believe most raid groups prefer full magi druids.

i can make one ascended set

Condipower→ vipers
Condi→ full condi gear with precision

Viper should come out ahead of something like rabid due to condi duration.

Anyway, zerker is the default armor for everyone in any profession. Good to always start with that in exotic and then customize your character with whatever other sets you want.

If you’re getting Zerker, consider getting the Grenth Temple armour (costs 252k karma and cannot be salvaged), and save your gold for other things.

magi for raiding, zerker for open world, condi for high-level fractal imo especially if you are in party with necro, You can do zerker just fine also.

Just exotic is enough. Not sure about the karma armor coz you cant get the runes back coz no salvage.

If you just running PvE then (soldiers) Power ,Vitality,Toughness is a good general purpose armor set to get you started.You can off set for extra damage with berserk-er trinkets and weapons .Remember you can take advantage of the toughness and vitality with sharpening stones .maintenance oils,or tuning crystals.Berserker armor is fine but sometimes if your getting started with a ranger its nice to have a little more protection,especially if you inadvertently aggro a bit more than you’d like.

In terms of zerks or vipers, its up to your preference of playstyle.

Both are for DPS builds. Both are viable builds.

If you like to see condition ticks, go vipers. Condition builds do a bit more DPS.
If you like doing power damage, go berserkers. Power builds do slightly less DPS but gives you access to extra dodges.

For bosses/ fractals i have to agree but for openworld the stronger condition dmg kills faster and condi duration would not be important.

I would go with Vipers or Celestial. Zerker just seems kinda weak after last update. I think I might change all my zerker gear to something more useful.
