All I ever really find is things like this sucks, buff that, ect. Make it hard to decide on an range class to play with so much negative posts. So lets leave all that behind and post things that are GOOD about rangers.

In before haters…

Anyway, I’ve been playing a ranger ever since BWE2 and not in a million years would I consider using any other profession as my main. Every mmo/game that I’ve played I have hallways picked the ranged/petmaster class. I like the idea of having my own personal tank/bodyguard while I sit back and pewpew the enemy.

There’s already topic like that. Don’t double it.

Its the whole concept that many ppl cant get it.Everyone wants their pets to be a passive constant dmg like a condition.Imo every Ranger has to put skill to maximize his pet dmg so theres a difference to dmg due to skill.The Ranger who can use his pet more effective can make more dmg.
The other think is weapons,most ppl want to stay at 1500 dmg and do like 5k dmg with every autohit..Anet said it before release that ranged dmg would be less than meele cause meele is more risky.Still Shortbow Ranger is doing the most dps in range..
And eventually skills and traits..Ppl dont understan the unbalance things that can occur sometimes..I was running a signet-power-crit dmg build in pvp and i picked singet of wild,signet of the hunt and signet of the stone with signet of Beastmastery trait and Rampage as one for elite.If signet of the wild didnt had so much cd i could have too much stability and its kinda op

I love the Ranger class. I admit, I don’t take mine in Dungeons for the reasons everyone else has gone over a thousand times, but in open world PVE Ranger is nearly unstoppable. They are also really strong in PvP and WvW when skillfully played. Yes, they require a little more practice in these areas then others, but SB Rangers can bleed people for big damage and be quite effective.

Honestly, with the one exception of PVE Dungeons, I think Rangers are a very strong class. Could they use some tweaks? Of course, but if you just read this forum you would think they were completely useless and they absolutely are not. I have an 80 Warrior, Guardian, Ele and Ranger and the Ranger is my favorite by far. I love the variation in pets, and the overall survivability that the class has when played well. And I’m not even that good, some of the best Ranger players are probably dang near invincible. I would by no means consider myself an expert.

There aren’t very many of them. I rarely have a ranger in my party. Never two.

What part of the game are you looking forward to playing? From what I’ve heard Rangers are ok in pve (apart from the toughest dungeons), they do well in sPvP, and if you’re in a small group or just roaming by yourself in wvw you will do ok as well… granted you have the gear, build and the skills. Ranger can be a frustrating profession to play sometimes. People say it lacks buid diversity, because they mean rangers cannot compete with other professions at a certain level. But if you like going about with your pet in open world pve, the ranger can be fun.

To be fair its now buried under 4 pages of hate. I’ll reiterate my sentiments from that one though…

The best part of being a Ranger is knowing you arent doing it the easy way. Sure the other classes mock us, people openly claim we can do nothing and contribute nothing but when you are out there in the dungeons picking those same people off the floor or putting them there in the arenas it feels great.

Let them lord it up with their face roll easy classes, guardians im looking at you, they will never be as good as you fellow Rangers. They don’t have to squeeze everything they can out of their class and always be on top of their game just to keep up. Ranger class is hard mode, be proud of that, the rest of them are too scared or too bad to even attempt what you’re doing. They all deleted their Rangers and abandoned the class because they can’t cope, they aren’t up to the challenge and need their training wheels.
