how many armor sets do you guys have on your ranger and what are you using them for? I had 3… but I recently salvaged 2 of them to start over lol

main set is ascended celestial and all my weapons are ascended celestial. I use this for the most of my wvw roaming builds.

I have a zerker set for pve and glassbow wvw (currently making an ascended set)
I have a cleric set for power bunker and support build (mostly use my celestial set for this now)
I have a apothecary set for condi bunker (mostly use my celestial set for this now)
I have a rabid set for bleed burst builds
I have a PVT set for zerging

A lot now since I can’t transmute runes out!

What kind of build do you run with all the celestial?

Only 2 right now, but I’ll have 4 eventually.

My “main” Ascended set (still working on it), which will be a balanced stat spread, but leaning a bit more towards Zerker.
My Zerker set.
My “tank” PVT set, which I use for situations where I need some more health and toughness, like against Tequatl or in WvW.
A Rabid set for niche situations where I need condi damage.

I chop and change alot, any of the more common builds that people run i just do it in celestial gear. I favor the short bow a lot and i usually have some point in bm, I’ve recently traded travelers runes for pirate runes.

I’ve got 3, I’ve got a zerker set that was gifted to me by someone so i could kill Liadri last year due to time limit being the only issue, it’s rarely used tbh. I’ve got a Magi set, and a Cleric set which are used fairly interchangeably, i favor one over the other depending on whether i face condis or direct damage more/ i want to proc on crit things or say “kitten crit!”, and then i have a mostly finished celestial set which i plan to use for 99% of my needs because i’m too indecisive and i prefer jack of all trades styles anyway.

This, same reason i made one, that and i use to may different builds to rely on one set.

Soldier for zerging
Berserk for almost everything in PvE
settler for shout ranger in WvW for the dolyak escort Service
Carrion for Spirit for Group Support
Dire/Rabid for Trap bunker in zerg
Valkyry/Cavalier for a crit bunker

Celestial – I use this 99% of the time in a trap setup. More accurately this set is only aout 30% celestial, the rest is a mish mash of PVT, Knights, Rabid and Rampagers. I did this because it lets me put the focus on the stats I want. While overall I have fewer stats because of this, the loss is not a problem since it all comes out of Healing Power, which makes no real difference to a trap build which has no regen or healing other than TU, which doesnt scale much with HP.

Knights – I use this rarely, mostly for dueling. I bought it to try a might stacking BM-ish build I theory crafted, and while it works actually pretty darn well, it just doesnt match my playstyle all that well. But still, like I said, I use it for dueling sometimes and it can be great fun there.

Berserker – Almost never use, and when I do it’s just to go in a trolly LB build, but after 15 minutes of playing I remember how bad it is compared to a GS mesmer so I give up on it. I’d salvage it, but it’s bought with badges.

Apothecary – Until recently I had Dire (which I never used), but I salved that and bought Apothecary to trying the Shout build people run these days. I thought it might be fun since Faux RRR build was the first build that really got me into roaming and dueling, but after playing With the Shouts for 30 mins I remember why I moved away from those types of bunker / regen builds.

So yeah… pretty much I just use Celestial and sometimes Knights. If I get bored of that I swap classes and play Mesmer where I can happily troll around in full zerker.

At one time I had 11 separate sets, but I needed the money so I salvaged a few of them, I only have 6 full exotic sets of armor right now (with ascended thrown in all over the place).

Magi with Exuberance runes.
Rabid with Undead runes.
Soldier (I use different cheap Runes almost every time I use it).
Rampager with Pirate Runes.
I used to also have a set of Apothecary, Shaman, Settlers, and Dire, and I am still working on getting a full set of Zealot’s and Celestial, as well as Nomad. Not in too much of a rush for any of those though.

I have a pve set with ranger rune, a pve set with scholar rune, a celestial wvw set, an exotic set for skins only for pvp and another skin only set for when i kindly ask male players if i might could have some gold or free items

I have 2 Rangers, each with 1 gear set.

One has full Berserker gear and is used for dungeons, world bosses, and open world farming.

The other has a power/condition hybrid gear set.

Currently a near-full soldiers set and some pieces from my old knight’s set

Yes, we use it on par with eles for the most part, a large amount of our weapons have hybrid damage, and most our condi damage can come via utilities too which allows us to really use any weapon if we want.

Also, rangers benefit more than most profs (I’d argue any) to have survivability stats on their gear since our damage is done as DPS with little to no burst, which means the longer we stay up the better chance we’ve got at winning since our damage builds aren’t just “run in, burst, die.”

Berserker’s for PvE, Celestial for WvW and when I need to adapt a build for something in particular on the fly (e.g. Crown Pavilion). I also have Settler’s, Sentinel’s, and Temple sets in my bank, but I rarely (if ever) use them.

I have differents sets of armor and accessories. Some for PvE but most for different WvW builds.
Armor:

• berserker with ranger runes
• soldier with resistance runes
• cavalier with Lyssa runes
• rabid with undead runes
• clerics with trooper runes

Accessories:

• ascended berserker with agony resistance infusions
• exotic knight with emerald jewels
• exotic dire with coral jewels
• ascended cleric with wvw infusions

I’m planning some more sets, but didn’t choose yet which one might be next. Most probably celestial or settler.

I made builds with those armor sets just to se if they could work, and they do in the right situations just like everything else. Just to warn you, I got mixed results at best.

The Shaman set was always a work in progress. I started with a build that used Apothecary gear and worked from there, just replacing toughness with Vitality. I also used spiders and the Intimidation Training trait, especially the Forest Spider. There wasn’t actually a whole lot of damage coming from this build which was why it was always a work in progress. It had insane amounts of poison and cripple, and I never actually had that much trouble killing things in WvW. The never ending cripple caused many players to panic and try to run away (not really sure why). The non-existent armor meant that some builds could drop you pretty quickly though.

This armor set was another experiment, and I only use it for PvE (the lack of condition removal and stun breakers should be an immediate clue to that). It had 3 major concepts. First was to not invest in any toughness, and rely on the pet and their high damage to pull all enemy aggro to themselves. The second concept was to use Fortifying Bond and Companion’s Might to keep the pet essentially at 25 might forever (in reality, it was usually between 15-20, and I do also have a sword/warhorn weapon set I sometimes use with the build in place of the longbow that guarantees 25 might). The third concept was to use Guard to give the pet perma-protection, and signet of the Wild with the 1100 healing power to give them a constant 400 or so per second health regen, which combined with the perma regen equaled to about 670 health per second.

It actually worked, and until the Mega server rolled out, I used it to solo pretty much any champion that ever existed. It is still way slower than other armor sets like Zerker, but the pet was essentially un-killable, and did decent enough damage so I wasn’t standing there for 10-15+ minutes waiting for the boss to die.

If you were looking for something for a game mode other than PvE…sorry, can’t help. The one time I did use Magi gear in WvW, I switched a cat for a River Drake, used Quickening Zephyr, Signet of the Wild, and Sick ’em all at once with a well timed Lightning Breath while I was using Barrage to stack might on the pet. I used it on players that were taking a tower. They had dropped the Champion and already healed. I downed all 3 level 80 players before they even knew what was happening. (this works with any precision build but the timing has to be immaculate. If only drakes could track their targets…..).

Still working on Zealot.

And no, the 2nd effect two life steals do not stack. Those two runes 2nd and 4th effect all give you the same effect when triggered. The 2nd and 4th effects do not share the same cooldowns with each other, but because they share the same effect, they cannot stack. Its also the same effect that triggers on weapon swap with Sigil of Leeching, and therefore, cannot stack with that either.

I’m not sure if its an oversight, a bug, or if Anet is trying to prevent people from getting too much healing.
